I saw the Dead Boys at least 50 times back in 77 thru 79. I just tried to watch the singer trying to be Stiv, made it thru 1 minute or so and had to get out of there. Stiv was a great guy, he can't be replaced.

He does does the Stiv voice a bit, but if you take the band on their own terms they’re pretty good and Jake is a great frontman.

Young Loud & Snotty is one of the greatest punk records of all time, I’m thankful they never got to re-recorded it. It’s one of the best sounding punk albums in my opinion, along with the Ramones first record.

Ran into Cheetah at the Dead Kennedys-DOA-Kraut-SSD show @ Paramount Staten Island NY in 1981. Me and the boys knew who he was, but gave him the "You look like Cheetah Chrome, but he's dead" routine. He spent 15 minutes trying to convince us that he wasn't dead. Many drugs involved

Cheetah has always said he didn't like hardcore. But I think he's said DK and Black Flag specifically were good.

I still remember all the "real punk rockers" at school reacting with a, "Who?", when they asked me what punk bands I liked. "Real" is such a subjective term.
