"If you are in a band and u are not having fun then u better be making lots of money" Now that is a great quote.
I love that they had him do the bit as the host of Channel X in GTA 5.

Fuck your video games! This about punk rock not fucking video games!
Man he can talk!!! 😂 I love Keith, absolute legend.
Doug Moody's Mystic Records was a good indy label. His office was right across the street from the Cathay De Grande. Sometimes there would be after parties inside the office. After the shows at the CDG, the bands would bring there equipment over and play another late night set. The party would continue. Bands like ILL Repute, The Grim, Dr. Know, Adolescents, Channel 3, MIA, The Descendents, Agent Orange, Social Distortion and Shattered Faith would play there a lot. The Mentors were always there. Sin 34 was always one of my favorites. I saw all the great bands there. Incredible time!

That is very cool.I had to look up the location of CDG. When you said the Mentors were always there, i figured it was Hollywood.I lived in a scummy part of Hollywood in 1991-92 and Il Duce would always be roaming the streets.Once he wandered into our little yard, had to snap a photo of him and he responded with a little Hitler-salute...he stayed in character so to speak.
The man is punk rock Jesus as far as I’m concerned.
Keith sounds great on the Flag video at the Moose lodge reunion. I really dig the way he hands the mic to Dez as he tears into Thirsty and miserable, American waste and Six pack. I met Dez and Henry after the first Black Flag show I saw in 1981. He was a really good dude very down to earth.
Keith Morris is always the best interview.
This is so cool. I'm glad Eric brought up good topics and then just let Keith talk. This didn't even feel like almost an hour. I was so hooked, it felt like 20 min
clip-on microphone is attached to the dreds.
Keith Morris is the best and he's really nice in person
Keith Morris and Henry Rollins are two of my favorite people in Music..Punk Idols.
This probably could have been a 30 minute interview but Keith just adds so much to his stories! Great Interview Eric! Definitely time well spent
This guy could say any sentence and make it absolutely hilarious
♥Keith He is so right on about the unnecessary bulldhit of driving. He is down to earth and real about himself. I adore him even more now that im older.

You can tell Eric is a good interviewer because he lets Keith talk
I love California accents
Even California punk rockers ramble on about traffic and directions....
I could listen to Keith for literally minutes, nearly one.
How is Keith so bonkers on stage and so laid-back in interviews?!
Punk Rock Icon is a understatement.
thanks for blasting my earphones off then speaking as quiet as possible. Solid bro!
i enjoy these stories because there's excitement, thought and feeling associated with all of them
Amen to that!!! Punk is about thinking for yourself and allowing others to do so, regardless of if you agree with them or not.
this interview should be plated in gold and shot into space for all planets and lifeforms. I had no idea of your show man but that was an amazing interview. thanks for giving me that peak into Keiths mind. very cool stuff :-)

Henry would disagree with you stridently, haha! He loved Keith as Flag vocalist and always talks up most the stuff pre him big time, but especially with Keith fronting.(well singing, it was always Greg's band) Henry killed it on The My War record, he was perfect for that, but I honestly love his spoken word stuff best. Keith was my favorite Flag vocalist far and away. All unhinged manic energy, pent up rage, and that balls out fuck you motormouth delivery. Love it!

One of the most consistent artists out there. You can't name a bad band he's been in. Though he takes things from his other groups but that just proves the point

I love this guy
I love the Circle Jerks and Black Flag. Keith Morris is very eloquent. Thank you.
his manner of speech reminds me of jazz music, he even mentions jazz in the interview, Keith doesn't really answer straight, he spirals in and out of thought consciousness, it's always entertaining to watch him though, and his phrasing and recollections of the past..
Neat guy. I’ve met him once or twice. He’s more intense in person. His big thing was public education as I remember. Nice guy. Said he was working as a cook. I believe it was because it was a non corporate job. He used to, when in Detroit, have dinner at mr. Steve’s next to St. Andrews. I remember the first time I saw them. I stole a tshirt from their stand in Raleigh. Somehow, everyone at the concert found out and people were looking for me to beat me up. when I wore it to school that Monday the kids were like Goddamn, you ripped off the circlejerks! That’s punk rock!
Great interview - love the Chuck Berry story.... !

Oh, the Chuck Berry story is worth diamonds beyond belief!
RIP Chuck Berry. What a fucking story. I've been listening to Berry since I was 11. The godfather of punk.
I was flipping channels one day back when MTV actually played music and there was the circle jerks doing an acoustic slowed down version of the song wonderful. It was wonderful. On a different note one day I saw their golden shower of hits CD in a store so I showed it to a couple people I was talking to and said you know this album just doesn't live up to its cover. One of the guys laughed and said no album could live up to that cover.
Keith Morris is awesome that story about the suicidal kid really got me
Came here from a Rollins interview -- what a polar opposite. Anyone who hasn't listened to Morris's DJ schtick in GTA V -- worth a listen. Dude is something.
Love the lav mic hooked on a dread!
Back in the 80s I was at a Circle Jerks show. I got into an argument with Keith. He came down off the stage and confronted me. More words were exchanged, then he forcibly shoved me with two hands . I shoved him back. He cocked his fist back and I did the same. Then three bouncers jumped on me and threw me out. Good times!
hes a really great story teller
I love keith Morris
Keith’s cool af. Hearing his voice takes me way back. Miss seeing him around.
whoa i just noticed his turbonegro shirt fucking awesome band!
keith bro your the man!
now, thats what i call an interview.
i would love to party with keith and listent to early 80s punk
Keith is the man
Is there a second part to this??????
The Jerks played a show in Brooklyn on the second toure east that only about 40 people went to,loved the early punk shows that were sparsely attended.
36:22 “When that Record came out it allowed us to get in the van and go to other places andThat would be called touring.” Awesome quote!
On March 5, 1985, the Dickies were one of a number of California punk bands to play a very unexpected benefit show; other bands on the bill included the Circle Jerks, the Vandals, and D.I. The show's beneficiaries were the Cypress College Republicans.
I relate! I used to do that too when I was younger. Mostly, I would skank to music, but anything else in adidition like shoulder rolls or jumping off furniture etc. was fair game. I've noticed that no body skanks in the pit anymore. What happened? Did everone all of a sudden forget how to skank? I was watching a fairly recent MDC live show fron the Candy Shop? NYC, and I noticed everyone was flailing their arms and everything else, but no one was skanking. It looked weird!
Despite all of the lawsuit drama I really think Keith just wants everyone to be friends.
