There is a history I've recently found that is not circulating well, but I suspect soon will, that tells of Arab leader Husseini's alliance with Hitler. It explains a lot of the hatred against a Palestinian state that once rang with anti-Jewish propaganda, which likely still fuels the rage of Israeli's. It doesn't condone violence, of course, but I think we really need to spend more time with the history of this conflict before taking sides, as this is how conflicts get perpetuated. We need a better conversation with the people on every side who are responsible and that won't be possible without the backstory. And, of course, people need to calm tf down so we can actually have a conversation. The UN, NATO, and the US need to lock arms and force a cease-fire immediately so it can begin.

In June 1967 I was in college and had five Israeli room mates. They were in the USA under special student Visa's to attend graduate school in the Fine Arts department. The problem I pondered is that several had degrees in engineering and none of them had aptitude for any types of art. Thinking back I speculate they were just Israeli spies. None of us are allowed to question the actions of Israel or the actions of our government with Israel. Is this the United States of Israel? What happened to the rule of Law? During the month of June 1967 they were huddled around a shortwave radio in the living room speaking in Hebrew and were animated about the ongoing war between Egypt and Israel. In English they told me that the "USA news was all wrong" about what was going on in the Middle East. Why were they in the USA? Certainly it was not for "Fine Art" schooling or pleasure. I recall that all of them thought they were superior to me and other Americans. Smugness and privilege was their calling card. Obnoxious people! I moved out and am sad about the contacts I made. They were Dishonest and had sneaky attitudes.

The motive for the attack on the Liberty is primarily believed to have been an effort to prevent the US and the world from learning of Israeli war crimes which the Liberty may have uncovered during their communication surveillance. The attack on USS Liberty (Operation Cyanide) wasn't the first time Israel had attacked US personnel. They did it previously in Operation Susannah 1953 when a group of agents called sayanim in Egypt dressed up as Arabs, carrying false and inflammatory propaganda, planted phosphorus bombs in bars, clubs and cinemas used by US personnel with the aim of murdering as many as possible and blaming it on the Egyptians. In other words exactly the same mission obective as Operation Cyanide a decade later. One of them called Phillip Nathanson had his device detonate prematurely and he was burned to a crisp. From his remains he was traced to a hotel and nine of the others were arrested and subected to a humiliating show trial. Israel denied any involvement of course but the lie was untenable. Eventually the Defence Minister Pinchas Lavon was selected as a fall guy and had to pretend that he authorised the operation without the knowledge of the Israeli cabinet. Thus it became falsely known as the Lavon Affair instead of the Israeli Cabinet Affair.

This is all true because I was there. I was a Navy Corpsman on the USSMassey. MY SHIP WASONE OF THE 2destroyers that went to retrieve the Liberty and I saw almost complete destruction of our American flag ship!

Thank you Al Jazeera seeing this documentary made me understand more of what really happened, I remember my grandfather telling me the story of what they saw and found on that ship with tears coming out of his eyes every time he spoke about it. My late grandfather LELI SCICLUNA (aka Manetta at the Dry Docks) from Senglea, Malta was a dockyard worker at the Malta Dry Docks and worked on refitting the ship and make it seaworthy again. God bless his soul and the souls of those who lost their lives in that ruthless attack.

I was never allowed to speak of this nor the USS Pueblo. On board USS Oxford, AGTR-1 I served in Vietnam 1966-1967

I couldn't reenlist in this countries Navy after this incident, and it still angers me that we didn't retaliate. How could we be sent into a war with a country that never attacked us, and blow off an incessant attack on one of our ships. But it still angers me today.

The media that is presented as "free press" and not state owned are still working in coordination to present false narratives and guess who runs those. Because: A: Its an old story that has been covered dozens of times. B: Because it’s not a very interesting story, misidentification in wartime happens. C: Because there has already been a dozen congressional investigations that all concluded it was a case of misidentification?

Because this is a totally one-sided and complete fabrication of facts that have been well established a long time ago. Yes it has been cleverly been put together, like any state sponsored propaganda but any of the factual statements mentioned that related to the so called knowledge the Israelis had this was an American ships are simply non-existent or fabricated. There are mountains of evidence this was a mistake and of course it is a total lie that the Israeli ambassador to the US admitted intent; (who makes up such ridiculous propaganda - perhaps they needed to tick "they admitted it box, but, really, the Israeli ambassador in Washington?). I have to say that only half way through when it became obvious to me that this was so one-sided I noticed who made this video. Yeah, right, we believe you.

@@YoLo-nz2fo There is a split in the United States in regards to Israel. Our government supports Israel I think for a few reasons. First is that Israel spends the money on weapons and equipment from American Military companies. We give them money and they give it to powerful corporations and corporations pay our politicians to keep it coming. Second is that Israel is a strong ally in a region where we have very few strong allies. Third reason would be that many Americans are very pro-zionist. The idea that Jewish people deserve their own country is on the surface a nice idea. I think many Americans are still stuck on WWII. In WWII we fought the Nazis and saved the Jews and I think many Americans let this situation go to their heads and still see themselves as the guy who protects the Jews from bullies.
