Easily???? You wouldn't be forgetting a few things would you? Clearly you're talking about the Yom Kippur war of 73, when, yes, the Arabs attacked by surprise. But let's not forget that in 1967 it was the Israelis who attacked by surprise with unprovoked air raids against Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan, virtually wiping out all their air forces on the ground. And turnabout is still fair play isn't it? And let's also not forget that Israel actually lost the war entirely by the end of the second day in 1973, except for one thing, Uncle Sam. _"In desperate need of rearmament, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir sent multiple appeals to the United States for military aid...Nixon, after huddling with National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger, ordered ...the American military to immediately bring the Israeli military back to its pre-invasion strength... “Operation Nickel Grass” constituted a resupply campaign that surpassed anything ever seen before - or since - in American history. U.S. military transports filled to the brim with weapons and supplies immediately took off for Israeli airbases, shadowed by American fighters with orders to shoot down any plane that appeared even remotely hostile. Quickly restocked with fresh American equipment, Israeli forces rapidly regained control of the battlefield."_ from "The Hill" a publication of Raytheon Corporation (A major US weapons manufacturer) When someone fights Israel, they are actually fighting the US. Israel is a proxy. A puppet force to take the blame and to serve as cannon fodder. The weapons, intelligence, transport, logistics, strategy, and master-plan decisions all come from the US. The proxy force is expendable, and can be sacrificed entirely giving the super-power time to react strategically. The Israelis, like the Ukrainians, are allowed and even encouraged to think of themselves as chosen-race super solders. That's exactly the type of delusion one wants from their proxy armies. Fanatical willingness to sacrifice themselves rather than retreat or make peace. So let's not claim that the Israelis won anything "easily". They lost the war almost immediately and then they were rescued by the US. The arabs didn't have any way to resupply their losses. So they never really stood a chance.

Everyone who says that Israel is standing still only because of the US millitary aid (which is way smaller than it portrayed by some people) should take a look at afganistan, which also recived aid from the US and its army was even trained by the US millitary for decades. It was a matter of weeks/months from the moment the western forces left till afganistan was overraned by the taliban. Whether you love Israel or not, its clear that its force is beyond foreign aid.

Plus at the very least, casualty estimates put Egypt's toll at double the Israeli's (if you take minimum Egyptian - 2800, maximum Israeli - 1400), and at the worst over 16 times the losses (max Egyptian - 10,000, minimum Israeli - 600). Similarly, worst case for Israel was a 1.5 kill ratio for aircraft downed (40 Israeli vs 60 Egyptian) and at best a 4.75 ratio (24 Israeli vs 114 Egyptian). Likelihood somewhere in the middle, so say around 8-10 times the casualties for Egypt and a 3-3.5 kill ratio for Israel. A huge win imo, especially without any territorial losses. Then factor in another victory in the Yom Kippur War, so that makes three defeats in a row for Egypt lol

There was this time a US carrier group was called on radio by the Spanish , informing them they were on a collision course, and ordering them to change course. The americans being themselves ordered the Spanish to alter their own course. The Spanish insisted the US carrier group alter their course. The american on the radio then boasted about how many ships they had with them, what type, proclaiming they should be given space because they were bigger and more important. The Spaniard replied that he had his buddy with him, some taco's and a dog, and that they were crewing a lighthouse on an island. It’s worth to check the US involvement in this war. They conducted Operation Nickel Grass to airlift more than 22,000 tons of military equipment to Israel during the course of the war to help save the day after the heavy losses they had on the Egyptian front during the first week of the war. Also the US sent it’s top tech U2 spy plane to photograph the Egyptians front lines to help Israel with the information in order to plan for the 2nd counter attack after the first one was crushed by the Egyptian troops on the 8th of October. Also it’s work to mention that 60,000 Russian troops and military experts where ordered to leave egypt few months before the war start. So the Russian involvement mentioned in this video is not entirely true. At the end I think this was very classic Cold War conflict.... it was not about Israel and Arabs... it was about US and Russian projecting power and trying their arsenals. Worth to mention... if you want to know who’s the real winner... look at the end result, Egypt managed to get Sinai back after this war.

Israel did not have better equipment until 1980es. Most of the tanks were upgraded obsolete tanks, many of whom were WWII surplus shermans, had some pattons, and centurions, also obsolete by 1973. While Egypt and Syria had T-62 and T-72s. For example, in battle of Valley of Tears in Golan they engaged few times during the night. Syrian tanks were equiped with night vision, while Israeli tanks were not, which was a huge disadvantage. Air force used to buy airplanes from France which imposed sanctions before 6 days war, so Israel had to start its own industry culminating with their own mirages, Nesher and Kfir, some phantoms and skyhawks started arriving shortly before the war (logistic nightmare, mix of french, american and israeli copies of french aircraft). As far as infantry weapons are concerned, it was mostly UZI SMGs, suplemented by FN FAL rifles, neither was suitable for the desert. Also Soviets supplied Egypt and Syria with most advanced SAMs and AT missiles they had. Only thing that worked in Israel's favor was better tactics, and more liberal command pyramid, junior officers in the field could do stuff without waiting for approval from higher command, so they were thinking on their feet. This stil plagues arab armies until today, too rigid command structure.

Absolutely correct. This is quite complex. The Arab inability to operate on their own plus their tribal loyalties, compared to Israeli self-reliance and field autonomy, is something that most people do not realise; let alone fighting for their families and homes (as jeffrey Koh said). Equipment superiority only came later after the shock of the '73 war and realisation that their complacency and arrogance after '67 almost lost them the Yom Kippur war (or Harb Tishrin) at the beginning. Poorly maintained equipment that resulted in field failure led to a massive review and modernisation of the IDF.

Lies. According to historian Tom Segev, the instructions sent to Eban in Washington were an attempt to mislead him, and through him president Johnson, to support Israel. In a memo to the President, Rusk rejected the claim of an Egyptian and Syrian attack being imminent, plainly stating "our intelligence does not confirm [the] Israeli estimate". According to John Quigley, there is thin evidence that there was any Egyptian plan to attack Israel that would actually have been carried out. The White House ordered an intelligence assessment, which found the Israeli claims unfounded. Israeli prime minister Eshkol wrote on a copy of one of the urgent messages transmitted to the United States "All to create an alibi". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origins_of_the_Six-Day_War#Egypt's_plan_to_attack_Israel_on_27_May en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Dawn_(1967)

Nasser was a tyrant seeking to become the leader of a Pan-Arab State whose only purpose - according to Nasser - was to crush Israel. So Israel, having been attacked since its inception, struck first. The Arab states surrounding Israel are backwards, have nothing but oil - which they didn't discover or do anything to develop - while Israel is the only 21st century nation of laws in the area. @@karlostj4683 - Maybe you need to learn to stick to the subject. I'm focusing on one thing because there is only one issue, whether or not the Arab states were on the verge of attacking. Had they thought about attacking, yes! Did Nasser take certain actions that were hostile/provoking, yes! The question is whether there was an imminent threat; and there wasn't because USSR and USA (after US's threats) had made sure that Egypt wasn't going to attack and still Israel struck the morning after as a punitive act. What does the backwardness or oil riches of Arabs have anything to do with the topic (was Nasser going to attack in 1973 or not)? The epitome of the attributes you just described are countries like KSA and UAE, the ones that you supposedly have best relationships with, weren't you hugging and kissing a while back? This shows how much you hate them as well, your (Abraham Accords) amicability is obviously fake. I'm suspecting that you are Jewish, for some reason every time you/they are challenged and you're unable to give an answer to your claims your resort to this superiority complex of how technologically advanced you are, how civilized and democratic you are etc.; that doesn't make you right nor justified. Actually it makes Arabs resentment towards you more understandable, and the term settler colonialist which they use sounds quite appropriate, because that's exactly the type of attitude the European colonialists had towards the natives whose land they occupied. -

Well, while the 'Jews' (as the Israeli generals mockingly called their politicians under Eshkol) did fear the Arab alliance, the Sabras in the armed forces knew that they would wipe the floor with Arab armies (Syrian army wasn't worth calling an army, Jordanians were too small, and Egypt was numerous; but drained from Yemen, ruled over as a corrupt fief by Marshal Amer, and constantly shifting about ruining defensive plans - Amer was even responsible for the collapse after early defeats after ordering total retreat). The Generals knew that this war was a perfect opportunity to secure military dominance and strategic depth against very weak opponents. Weak - so long as Israel struck first, since much depended on air supremacy. That said; the Egyptians clearly did cross the 'red' line by closing the Eilat off. And had they survived the initial onslaught by being even slightly better prepared (say, if Amer hadnt collapsed the army), they might have defeated Israel through attrition. This isn't even controversial. And its not like Israel didn't start the war before that (1956). Its just realistic politics.

Strange video. It makes it seem like Israel started this war. It omits the fact that Egypt Jordan and Syria announced their intention to invade Israel and were mobilizing troops on Israel’s boarder.

Yes strange video especially with wrong time presented manipulated of wrong wars in wrong time. Some details were funny how both sides in this conflicts and many other had their gods. Soviets and rich American Jews were fake gods at the time. I don't claim that I know everything about right or wrong just wanted to put little bit light on the subject. Oh in my opinion if we shine light on something, there is that something. If we put light on noting there is nothing at all or empty space. Wonder if this new NASA Webb telescope will prove that.

@@TheKeithvidzumm it’s modern history you noob. I don’t have to lie, you can read the news reports yourself. And Israel did gain land after defeating Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Though, Jordan was illegally occupying the West Bank and East Jerusalem so i wouldn’t exactly call that a land grab. As for the Sinai peninsula, Israel gave it back once Egypt agreed to a peace treaty.

I'm pretty sure Israel can claim victory of the War of Attrition due to the fact that Egypt started it with the goal of pushing Israel out of Sianai and failing to do so. Also Egypt had Russian troops helping them where as Israel only had aid from the U.S. in the form of weapons.

Michael They could have had Sinai back right after the Six Day War. Hell, Dayan announced publicly he was expecting a phone call from Egypt, but they never called. Instead Nassar went to the Khartoum Conference, a few months after the 6 Day War and reaffirmed the Arab refusal to recognize Israel or have peace.
