I'm reading Miko Peled's book The General's son and my latest reflections have me thinking about just language itself and how language shapes our world. He had mentioned traveling to see a Palestinian group in Bil'in that swears to never be violent, he was and talking to a settler there (and entering his home with two Palestinians) and the settler spoke Russian and not Hebrew, when the Palestinians he was with spoke flawless Hebrew. my latest idea is that that our first crime is calling it the land of Israel when we should actually still call it the land of Palestine. We shouldn't say the "settlements" are illegal, we should say the whole state of Israel is illegal.

@Bvmary Mary Well I have been to Israel and have seen first hand how Palestinians are treated compared to Israeli citizens. I have also seen, for my entire life, how Isreal responds to terror attacks, by taking it out on the civilians. They shoot journalists and children, sanction their imports and occupy land that isn't their's. As far as I'm concerned, Israel is guilty of crimes against humanity and many war crimes. If you stand with the Israeli government on this issue you are on the wrong side. Maybe you are the sheep, or you are a heartless person with no empathy for innocent oppressed people. Sure there are some terrorists, but they aren't the civillian population. It's not like they can raise an army in their open air prison and fight them toe to toe. When they do fight it's rocks vs. machine guns, not too fair. I don't know how a person with any knowledge on the subject can blame the Palestinians at this point. A two state solution is the only one that will work since Israel obviously doesn't want them as citizens, and the only ones stopping that from happening is Israel.

A solution will will not be found in our own thinking if it were so do you not think it would have already been found? But the single biggest stumbling block here for the Arabs to them understanding is that they don't recognize the God of the Jews and Christain's our Lord is the only true God all the other gods are idols but what's impossible of man Is possible for God. And this God The God of the living gave the land of Canaan to Israel the people and their land is called by God Israel. The crossing of the Jordan river into Israel took place in 1386bc about 3400 years ago please let Israel dwell in their land in Peace

Unfortunately, it is true that UN resolutions are not binding. They are recommendations and most countries would need to follow them but under the UN chart, yhey are not binding.

Omar Ahmed The term "occupation" means that a territory belongs to some other country or state. However, in 1967 that territory was liberated from the Jordanian occupation by the IDF, and (!) Jordan since then abandoned any claims. Which means it is DISPUTED territory, but not "occupied", because there in no any country to which it formally belongs.

Wonder how Canada, US, Australia, NZ would react if native people (Indians, Aborigines, Māoris) resettle say Toronto, Manhattan, Sydney or Auckland. Would they treat them as patriots or invaders? And what if these native people were aided by outside powers who arm them to forcefully reclaim their “holy lands?” Surely the arguments they would make would be 180 degrees different from their stance about Gaza.

Then at the end of the Yom Kippur war they agreed to give the Sinai back and help make an independent Palestinian state I'm the west Bank, east Jerusalem and Gaza. The settlers are illegally moving into the west Bank, not the territory they annexed after the 48 war.
