    Excellent upload, TravisBickle1963! This album is so fuckin' old. When Ian Astbury and Co. babysat Methuselah! Great memories of the "Love" lp! I have the Omnibus collection; lots of rarities and live tracks.

    Damn, that about blew my head off! Killer show! I remember when Love came out thinking these guys were the perfect blend of Goth darkness, psychedelic reverb and new wave cool. Great moment in time.

    Hell yes!! I caught this tour in Dallas in early 86 and they were shit-hot. It was the first show I ever saw without adult supervision. I’m still excited about it almost 35 years and a few thousand shows later.

    Billy giving the crowd a good sonic beating with no accompaniment (no second guitarist or keyboard) on this heavy ass song; the punkers digging it fully. What a f'n bad ass. Never got to see them live back in the day but can only imagine smell of sweat and loss of hearing (one too many Ramones shows myself).

    Revolution, I've heard it so many times through the years that I can't hear it anymore. Numb. But Phoenix is a very different story, wow, what a track! And that extraterrestrial sound Duffy is getting out of that Gretch is just incredible, euphoric! Too bad the audio portion on this performance is so poor. Duffy's pomp, pure Rock n Roll! Sure wish I coulda been there!

    This is exactly what the band looked like when I first saw them at the Hollywood Palladium April 26th, 1986! -- Ian had sprained his ankle the night before at the show in San Diego so he basically stood almost motionless the entire set propped up by his mic stand and I'm sure plenty of opiates to kill the pain. Needless to say it was an incredible show as Ian seemed all that much more prophetic.

    I saw them in Dallas, same tour, a week or two earlier than the LA shows. I guess, and they were shit-hot. 34 years and a few thousand shows later, still one of the best I’ve *ever* seen. Anyone who thinks the 80s sucked wasn’t there, or they weren’t in the right places, because this was my 80s, and it was fabulous

    I remember this at the time and it blew me away and led to my band covering ''Phoenix". Ian Astbury's fantastic stage presence and Billy Duffy's incredible guitar sound, playing that beautiful Gretsch. They had a great look then too - dark psychedelic gothy look. Shame they went and ruined it by trying to become a third rate Guns'n'Roses...

  • @Crimeyfied

    @Crimeyfied

    7 жыл бұрын

    They were trying to be the second coming of *second rate* Led Zeppelin, seeing as the Electric album was recorded with Steve Brown (Love) and then scrapped ("The Manor Sessions"), only to be re-recorded and recooked / produced by Rick Rubin of Beastie Boys Zepp-sampling fame in late 86. Guns & Roses didn't boom until well after Electric and the creative spark demise of The Cult. They self-imploded when they decided they were purely a rock band and left their London-Soho psychedelic roots to rot for the torn jeans, tow-truck driver hair and beer by the keg loads.

    They experimented with different styles. Nothing wrong with that.. Artists grow and try different genres and if you get stuck with just one style or genre then you become stale.

    Only these two songs were broadcast but the main band would often play a few more songs for the studio audience, after the credits had rolled for the show. Sometimes these extra tracks were leaked (as with The Cults earlier performance from 1984, or The Mission from 1987) but sadly, I've never seen any further Cult tracks from this episode of The Tube. :-(
