This is the best Cult period. Ian was a fantastic singer, Billy played so well, they had beautiful songs, and their image was outstanding. In short, they've got all the elements required for a great rock band. Those years, the Cult were my favorite band I just couldn't help listening to them all day through.

Same here. Played Love over and over again. After that album the magic was gone for me. They became just a main stream hardrock band.

@@hendrikheemels8615That's fair, I mean, it's your opinion. And tbh, I know what you're talking about. Dreamtime and Love are epic. But even with the lost of Nigel and then, Jamie later, and with all the changes in their sound, they were never "just a main stream hardrock band", in my eyes. They still wrote amazing songs after Love and they still rock today! I mean, they (still) are among a very small group of rock acts from the 80's that still sound and act legit, instead of the typical pathetic fake joke that most acts from the 80's are.

I agree they were unstoppable then & a year or two after, but by the time 👁️ saw them live open up for Metallica in 1989, they were burnt out & were never able to retain that magic.

Thanks to the album "Love" , my 14-year-old son liked rock music and at the age of 18 he started learning to play the guitar. This was the music of my youth. Now I'm 54 and he's 21, we both love rock od 80's.

Ian's singing here, especially on the opener "Nirvana," is so good I was convinced it was lip synched until the very last note. But apparently it's totally live. Love - one of the best rock albums of all time and an apt stepping stone between Goth rock and the all out hard biker rock that characterised their next release 'Electric' but still representing something that had never been done before and remains unique all these years on. By far, this is them at my favourite point in their career but I gotta say 'Electric' is still the best AC/DC impression attempt I've ever heard and beats the likes of Airborne.

Love bass axeman Jamie Stewart's pony tail! Actually his hair style reminds me of another axeman; Pearl (Porl) Thompson's from The Cure in the earlier years. I found it most interesting that The Cure vocalist Robert Smith song writing didn't mesh well with Thompson and probably contributed to Thompson leaving The Cure in 1994 to play with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin during the Page and Plant tour of 1995. Pearl also played with Babacar, a band formed by Boris Williams, following his departure from the Cure. Later, Thompson formed another project called Quietly Torn. Thompson continued working with Robert Plant, joining the singer's group for the 2002 release Dreamland. Thompson joined the Cure again in June 2005. Thompson was with the band for the recording of the live DVD The Cure: Festival 2005; for the recording of the band's 13th studio album, 4:13 Dream; and for the band's 2007-2008 4Tour.
