So amazing the way Stuart's face changes when he see's what's going on speaks volumes to what heart the guy had, saw them years ago in Frankfurt and they were absolutely fantastic, so grateful I got to see them.

I saw him and Tony dragging bouncers off an over excited fan during a gig at the Liverpool Empire in 1983 . A true caring , sincere Human Being . RIP Stuart you`re sorely missed .

You don't RIP when you kill yourself. You sound thoughtful but it's a selfish act; especially when you leave a daughter behind as he did.

Stuart = the definition of a class act. I've seen too many videos of rockstars throwing temper tantrums and bullying audience members. Here's a great example of how true nobility should handle a crisis. Bring tensions to a screeching halt, then bring everyone together. Damn, the world could use him right now!

Stuart's guitar sound was the anthem to my life at the dawn of the eighties. He and his fellow Skids gave me a reason to carry on through dark times and his passing hit me hard for that reason. A hugely talented and inspiring man, sadly missed.

Stuart, Willie Simpson, and I were all in the same class at Secondary School Cowdenbeath in the early 70's. He was learning to play guitar then. He and his mates were always going on about Monty Pythons Flying Circus! RIP.

Every now and then I remember him with a tear in my eye... He was one of a kind . Musician, songwriter, guitarist and singer of the higher class. But most of all a human being so sensitive and rare... Miss you man...

I met S. Adamson in Boston, MA, USA in 1995. Without exaggeration, he was about the nicest person I've ever met. When I heard that he'd died and how, it hurt like the death of a friend or family

Seen the Skids in the late 70s i was leaning on stage looking at Stuart guitar playing he smiled winked then handed me his pick ....Great bloke and supet times .Nearly 60 now and still listen and play Skids stuff 😎🤘

the incredibly sincere way the man's face simply drops and the true concern he has, I can watch over and over. God bless and I look forward to hearing those incredible voices and guitars in heaven. God bless BIG COUNTRY

First video I've seen where the band has all stopped within one bar, once a band member wants to stop the show. No random guitar solo or drums tapping away. A band that could stop on a dime and start on a dime is a tight band.

A legend, I agree. this clip shows his humanity. I can say that I'm here today because of Stuart, Mark, Tony and Bruce. What an incredible collection of nice people, fantastic musicians and creative talent. Importantly, an intelligent talent, only previously achieved in my view by written poetry. I look back and remember hearing Over the Border and being stunned. A stupid 15-year old stunned kid from Canada listening to this new band with the funny sound. That kid survived. Thank you BC.

She never called back and didn't speak on the ride home... Lol I was SO ENAMORED with the band the girl mostly felt neglected... My bad but I still love Big Country and I don't even remember her name. RIP Stuart. My bucket list is to visit your hometown one day. Dumfermline. Didn't discover the Skids until this year, can you imagine? You can hear Big Country in them as you can hear Bachman Turner Overdrive in some of The Guess Who songs.

I kept screaming Harvest Home, not realized they have a set list they go by... Lol. His music reached into my Soul, like they were talking just to me and not millions of other Souls. They were better than U2 imho. If you run into Bruce tell him he has a big fan in Noo Yawk... Lol. As a novice dirt bike racer when the band got big watching them ride in the video just made them all the more special. SA funded a road racing team didn't he? Big country blew me away, the sound was fantastic and the chequered shirts we all loved and cherished will still hold Stuart close to our hearts. Rip Sir.

I saw Big Country in Redcar Bowl a long time ago. It was a very intimate gig, no barriers and you were within touching distance of the band. Someone spat at Stuart, mid song. he stopped the song, leapt off stage and grabbed the culprit by the scruff of the neck, dragged the idiot outside, came back in...one, two, three...back into the song...very cool. Sadly missed.

I was at that show with my friend Billy that evening and I remember it well. I can't believe it was so many years ago (31 and counting). Big Country always gave us a great show and I thank them for that.

KZread just caught me out, been on a while in background and found some Big Country. Stuart Adamson was an absolute legend, great songwriter, human being and a man whose socialism was what socialism is all about, caring for others. Saw Big Country so many times is Britain, so many amazing gigs and seeing this video I had to wipe a tear. Your legacy lives on in our hearts. As he used to say "Stay Alive"

What is incredibly remarkable is the way they just take up the song in the middle of the 'solo' ! Musicianship x 10 !

My first concert 1984 in Dublin . Fantastic

It's a huge shame "The Seer-Live in NYC" never made it to DVD but thanks to some good folks most of it is here on You Tube. Earlier in the concert there's a shot that shows a ruckus going on and the security getting too heavy so you actually see what made Stuart react the way he does. The incredible thing, besides Stuart's concern and deep humanity, is how they re-start so perfectly and finish the song.

I have followed BC since the late 80s..and continue to appreciate their music...May God Bless your soul Stuart...

I have been a fan since early 1983 - always remember Stuart jumping in to the Newcastle crowd and having a huge go at the sound technician as his mic and guitar kept cutting out, furious he was and said so on stage and said as no one can hear it properly we will do a free gig for you all.

Never heard of this , good on you, for stopping it , you were one of a kind for sure, would have like to have met him , but I wasn't lucky enough. Godspeed stuart

What a top bloke, saw him in his Skids days do the same waded in ahead of the bouncers to stop anybody getting hurt. Greatly missed

He did the exact same thing in late '83 when I saw them at University of Delaware. A couple of guys down front were slamming around, causing other fans consternation, and he shut it down and gave them a good talking to. There wasn't a whole lot of security at that gymnasium show, so it was just him and them.

Thanks for uploading this in the first place. We have no coverage back here in the UK of Big Country gigs in the USA. It's a shame they didn't get a bigger push from their label, but it does take a hell of a commitment from both band and record label to break America. I was lucky enough to meet the band on 2 occasions and can vouch for what a great bunch of down to earth, unaffected by fame guys they were. It is hard viewing though watching Stuart in his prime after what happened.

I think Inwards is their finest song - Stewarts guitar work and just the whole thing is something else, what a tune.

I met Stuart, Bruce, Mark and Tony in 1989. Peter Wolf the keyboard guy was with them too. They all had great humility. Very friendly people.

Wow. That happened at the Warfield in San Francisco in August of 1986. Stuart stopped the concert because, again a bunch of people were messing around in front and shoving each other. He told them to knock it off.

What kind of a musician would be on live tv and do what Stuart Adamson did.....my I miss him so. RIP dear one Suzanne

An absolute legend of the highest order

Stuart and Jake Burns from Stiff Little Fingers are the only two I've ever seen stop a gig because of violence in the audience. Both wonderful guys. Pity only one of them is still with us.

It took me until an SNL replay on Nickelodeon to hear them for the first time. I enjoyed it so much i bought their music.

Magnificent man and band, only saw them once alas, but what a fabulous gig it was, back in 95

What a legend of a man, anyone who met him (and there were lots of us) will testify to his completely grounded attitude to the fame-game. He is so terribly missed by a generation of people who were there from '83 and never more has there been a need for a strong anchorman prepared to stand firm against the weak tide of modern 'celebrity' culture. He would have cut them down in a short sentence and told it like it is. So sad he chose to leave us.

i'm so sad that i never saw Big Country with Stuart, he was easily the best frontman in rock music.

Pier 84 in Manhattan. I was there, along with 2 or 3 friends. I remember this incident. 8/27/86. It was an amazing performance by one of those groups that could not only muster up one great song, but one great album. The Crossing is one of the great albums of the Eighties, and I had seen the Psychedelic Furs/Blow Monkeys show a few weeks earlier, not at Pier 84, but at Jones Beach which was about 10 minutes away from where I lived- unlike the Pier, which was about an hour drive. I had a "Miami Vice" type lime green unconstructed jacket on at the time, which were quite popular. I remember attempting to pass a joint to a man in a suit without a tie, which was quickly rebuffed with an almost disgusted look and his girlfriend, dressed much more hip, quite a bit younger, laughing at him. In my memory, it lasted about 5 minutes, unlike this video which shows the whole thing was over in seconds. My absolute favorite Big Country song- Inwards. Sorry about the violence, but glad they played it longer on the one night I got to see them live.
