The first time I watched this video, I saw this comment, and I thought that Gaston was going to walk into a butter waterfall at some point in the play. So when I got to the part where he started singing the BTS song I was like “Oh, that’s what that commenter was talking about”

really disappointed Church of the Rock is just a normal church and not one that worships dwayne the rock johson

With the abrupt "Time Warp" song, and Belle smiling on the 'cross', I was excitedly bracing for "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life", even though I knew it would not fit the mood.

Belle has actually a bachelors in music at the university of Manitoba studying her masters in speech to language pathology. Ms Potts is used to be a worship leader now online church campus coordinator and is a lead singer in a local band

I can only imagine their rewrite of "Touch Me" goes something like 🎼 touch a touch a touch a touch a touch me! Only after we're married! Fill me chill me fulfill me, with the word of the lord🎼

Rocky Horror Picture Show came out of NOWHERE!!! Like, WHAT?!?! So many questions about that one I looked at the map of the church's inside and it's prob not the to-scale floorplan but if it is, I don't know HOW they fit all that stage on there! That would be impressive if everyone was just packed in like sardines backstage

Truly wild

This was wild. But I just wanted to say, there is actually an adjacent fairytale version of a 'Beauty and the Beast' tale where the girl does just go and pick a rose by herself from a cursed knight's castle. It's the Scottish/British broadside tale called Ballad of Tam Lin. Our beauty argues with Tam (=Tom) for a while about the rose before coming in with him, and when she returns to her dad's home it starts becoming clear she got pregnant. When she's picking herbs for dealing with it, Tam finds her and tells her of his curse at the hands of a fairy queen. On Halloween night 'when the fairy folk ride' she saves him and breaks the curse and they get their happily ever after... There's also a weird and fun 1970s pulp folk-horror (very light on the horror) flick about it. 'Ballad of Tam Lin' or the US release 'The Devil's Widow'.

Knowing the tiny bit I do about the church I actually think they do know. They're all about being immersed in pop culture to stay accessable. Also cogsworth was really going in on that impression.

Lol, right?? 10/10 name! I don't think mine did a knockoff play perse but we would put on plays like les Miserables and then the preacher would talk about the Christian messaging. Same thing with the princess bride lol.

I'm a professional musician (Trumpet!) and every every year i always play a few services at local churches. Mostly Easter and Christmas. Most of them talk about the fact that some people only go out to church once or twice a year and are super welcoming. I'm not religious myself but always find the sermons very interesting. I definitely don't agree with mainstream religion but find the community that church brings to be nice. As long as they don't spew hate or touch children, that is.

I don’t know what other movies/properties this church has Easter-fied, but I do find it interesting that they knowingly picked a love story and then had to basically nerf all the romance because one half of the main couple is now a stand-in for Jesus. (Call Me Maybe aside, I guess.)

They did have a couple of songs from The Lion King when they did The Lion King, so this wasn't the first time they used songs from the actual movie.

I think the actors did a great job performing in the beauty and the beast musical and I thought it was random when they used modern songs like Carly Rae Jepsen's song. Also I think both your hair and singing near the end of the video are both really good. For some reason, I thought the video is about the Beauty and the beast TV series from the 1980s that you did a while ago.

I feel like this is the lead pastors actual dream is to be on stage in theater, but either he’s not good enough, or feels guilty because he’s “supposed to be saving souls” or whatever. so he tries to mix the church and theater to satisfy himself. Sad.

Ohmygosh!! This is that same church from Jenny's video about the Church Play Cinematic Universe? They made a new play? That is amazing! XD And now choir director lady is Mrs. Potts. Hysterical! All their stuff is comedy gold. Although, why would Belle be the Jesus figure in the story? Isn't Beast more fitting for that role since he dies and is transformed and all that? Oh well. You gotta love how committed this church is to going through all this trouble every year to put on these pop culture jukebox musical productions.

Yep they do a new play every Easter. I think belle is Jesus because she loved the beast unconditionally. But yeah I thought the beast dying would be the crucifixion too.

I swear they're hardcore about it at this point.

There's something disturbing about beloved fictional characters constantly being crucified over and over again in these plays. I get what they're -trying- to do...but... Also, many of the characters they've chosen in the past have not exactly been similar to Jesus (like Jack Sparrow)...so it's strange to make it linear like that.

Speaking from a Christian viewpoint here: The idea of reaching out to the unchurched has been shown to be pretty disingenuous and false- they pretend to be concerned about growing the church but it’s far more about getting more butts in the seats not maturing people in the faith. The needs of people who have been there many years are often ignored. It’s embarrassing and deceptive.

I need to mention that the background tavern girl in the red dress eats up literally every scene she's in and she doesn't even speak, she's just so pretty 😭😭

Honestly the play isn’t to bad lmao. The singing could be SO MUCH worse. I wouldn’t mind paying 10 dollars to see this live 😂. Nice actors too 🤔

Oh no. What is this going to be? Then I see it like I am watching it now. And was amazed. I feel much better even than Harry Potter The Musical.

Im a newer fan to your channel bc i ended up going down a scamilton rabbit hole myself, and now seeing this....I lost my mind when the teapot began singing Free Bird of all songs in a beauty and the beast musical converted to be about easter and jesus's return. Also fun fact, that time change you were confused on? Is in fact a time change, because thats when the legendary free bird solo starts because they timed it for when belle walks out.

Soo after another watch and more time to think about it.. two things, first is that the head pastor sounds like Miss Piggy, and most importantly.. this is DEFINITELY better than Beastly 😁. Also if I was raised evangelical, I'd lose faith too, so can't blame ya on that 🙃

I may have questions about the things they do but to be fair they're just doing something for their congregation that they think is fun and the internet just kind of found out. 😂

when you watched that specific clip, you needed to watch before and after, as you made it look like that’s all he was saying and what we believe, when that is most definitely not the case and was completely opposite
