@@niqbal From what I read in the news about it, there were prayer gatherings in a certain part of the school grounds, and part of the pressure and intimidation was to get more of the Muslim students to join those daily gatherings. It was the mass gatherings that were banned, rather than individual prayer which as you say is not something that can be regulated. By making it something that has to be done individually and more privately, it takes away the bullying factor, leaving only personal spirituality. Which is what it should be about. The moment prayer becomes weaponised to control other people, it ceases to be about the spirituality of the act.

@@midastheunwise2423 there are so many versions of this story we don't know which the truth lies. I don't trust the head. Let's take the intimidation version. If a Muslim asks another Muslim to prayer that's considered a natural and good thing. If a Muslim does not want to pray then they are the one with issues. By accepting Islam you accept prayer, fasting etc etc. So this is not a case of bullying or intimidation but an identity crisis on the non-praying Muslim.

“Foreign ethnic” you said. So any immigrant who isn’t white? There are plenty of Eastern Europeans who come over and cause trouble, they just blend in easier with looks, not culture. Just call out what it is your mad at, the Islamic/Muslims. Stop lumping us all in to one group. Plenty of us assimilate to British culture just fine. And before any immigrants came to the UK, there are centuries of recorded British history of degenerate British behaviour. Stop acting like all white people are all civilised. Didn’t UK used to chop peoples heads off for treason? Hundreds of British women died in “witch hunts” that were completely unfair trials. You can say the British colonists were just as disgusting as the nazis were. But I guess you have the complexion for protection, right? You guys get a pass. Oh and by the way, immigrants make up a small portion of the overall population of England. If enough British people cared about the country there wouldn’t be an issue of any small group being able to change anything. What are you scared of? How is placing blame going to solve your personal prejudiced problem? Do you really believe if all the brown people left England everything would be perfectly perfect? Despite the fact that most poor areas, council estates, are filled with majority white people, despite the bigger cities making it seem different on TV. There also wouldn’t be many jobs for immigrants to come over for if all the British youth were working hard like the former generations were.

I went to a Catholic school as a non Catholic and had no issues whatsoever due to it. I ended up at that school after the school I attended took on the overflow from another school that was closed because the students and neighborhood of that school basically destroyed it. I spent 6th grade as 1 of a handful of white students. After months of issues and being harrased, I was stabbed in the back with a razor blade and my parents had enough. You have to go to the school you're told to, so the only way out was to pay tuition and go to a Catholic school. So in essence, racial harrassment caused me to move schools and my parents to penny pinch and work extra shifts just to ensure my safety and education. The one redeeming feature of that 6th grade year was the teacher I had. It was his first year as a teacher and he was given one hell of challenge.

This ‘religion of peace’ sarcasm may still work among some western audiences but it isn’t working at ridiculing Muslims anymore and frankly it has also lost its comedic value. Repeated jihadist killings and rapes and beheadings as seen in so many Islamic attacks worldwide and physical threats as seen repeatedly at Speakers Corner and now in Australia against non-Muslims, particularly Christians, in the name of Islam, isn’t funny anymore. To Muslims, calling Islam a religion of peace is positively acceptable because once Islam has subjugated and controlled the infidel world, they’ll finally can rest their swords and have peace. Think of those apostates and their loved ones, especially Christians, who have to bear up under this terrible thing for decades sometimes centuries. Time to utterly, directly and unequivocally condemn and resist every form of lie that IS Islam and expose it to the world courageously. Unless you don’t have the courage.

Now, now! Get things right! It's an early medieval religion. Judaism was a Bronze Age religion, but it has subsequently modernised itself considerably (except for those Jews who wear funny hats), as has Christianity. It's not possible to modernise Islam, as it is supposed to be the unalterable word of the Creator. Quite why the Creator had to have an archangel recite all this wisdom to an illiterate camel-herder, who then had to recite it to those of his acquaintances who were literate, is not satisfactorily explained anywhere, as far as I can see :)

All to accommodate a few incomers. No one was forced to take part, if a child was of a different religion they could sit in a classroom, usually with a teacher and that was accepted by everyone. No one should be intimidated by others into not eating when it is not their religion. Parents are far too indulgent of their children and it is often strong teacher role-models that shape a young person's behaviour and socialisation. If a parent does not like the ethos or ethics of a school then they should remove their child - not try to change the school. If a parent has a complaint then they can always take it to the LA, Academy Trust or even DfE. A specific legal challenge like this against a school should not be allowed in law. We had a similar incident in Zimbabwe where the religion of MoMo are less than 1% of the population and Christianity is at nearly 90% of the population. So the followers of MoMo are few and our totalitarian govt keep them under the thumb. So they are afraid to be a nuisance because our govt will retaliate harshly. Anyhoo, there's an exclusive and expensive private Christian boys high school in our capital city Harare. And a follower of Mo enrolled his son there from the beginning of high school. The school rules make clear ALL boys must be clean shaven until they leave the school. This includes 6th form students. This man's son decided at age 16 that he wanted to become a Cleric of his religion and to be that, having a big beard is required. So he started to grow a beard and after he refused to shave it off as the school rules dictated he must, he got expelled for refusing to comply. His father tried failed to get the school to change their rules for his son. He even went to the High Court, Supreme Court in Zimbabwe and even the Zimbabwe Constitution Court, to try to sue the school for discrimination. He lost every case because the school made clear that all boys must be clean shaven in their rules. And the father accepted these rules at the start. So he knew what he was signing his son up for at a school where being clean shaven is a rule. No exceptions for anyone. Anyway the father is still upset and said he was now taking the matter to the African Constitution Courts. And even the international courts of human rights. Like seriously? For a beard? And of course trying to impose his religion on others.

The right decision, if rules suddenly start having exceptions, then before long the exceptions pile on and it ceases to do anything but be oppressive to the majority. They knew the rules of the school, and he could either wait to finish school before becoming a Cleric, or change schools to one that allows it. As they say, the reasonable man adapts to suit his environment. The unreasonable man expects the environment to adapt to suit him.

Indians are absolutely brilliant people. I've never heard of anyone having a bad interaction with an Indian here in the UK. They're hard working and polite, and are proof that it's possible to integrate fully into a different culture while preserving your own.

They would still just keep shitting on us no matter how much we prove ourselves. The west after all also has its own toxic ideology of racial superiority. Actually only the eastern civilizations figured out universal brotherhood and incorporated it into their religions and built societies. The west needs to come a long way in terms of ideology.

the school clearly stated to entrants that it was a secular institution, the family suing the school would have known this when they enrolled their child in the school, but they decided they wanted to change the entire institution to suit their beliefs - they had no grounds to sue the school in the first place
