Lol. I may be cis and hetero, but I have a trans boyfriend, and before I met him, I had no idea how privileged I truly am compared to those less fortunate. I have faced bullying as a child, but never to the extent my boyfriend has faced through his whole life by his own family. I am disgusted by some of the things people seem to think.

Yes, the whole pockets thing is super annoying, specially being an adult who only accepted being trans after decades of being use to having functional pockets it is even more frustrating for me because I am so use to "wallet keys phone" being in specific pockets where I feel like I am missing something if I am outside the house without them in their right pockets, even jeans that do have pockets the pockets are only like 2 inches deep and so are functionally useless except for coins and keys. As such I would even argue that it isn't just "P O C K E T S" but rather "FUNCTIONAL pockets", in my work pants that are from the men's department the pockets are 8.5" deep and I can easily have my wallet and keys in one pocket and phone in the other pocket and still have room to put my hand in the pockets to keep my hands warm, but in my cloths I actually want to wear from the women's department the pockets are 3" deep and yeah sure I can put my wallet and keys in one pocket (just barely) and half of my phone in the other pocket, nothing else fits in them and there is way to much of a risk of things falling out because of how shallow they are. I would argue that anything under 7" is not a functional pocket even if it is a technical pocket. If it is not deep enough to put a phone in then it is not functional.

My daughter had pretty much no hair until she was 2 and a half. We very much put her in any clothes we thought were bright, colourful and fun - I remember one day an elderly gentleman telling me off (!) for putting her in a baseball cap because it confused him! Yes! My whole purpose as a parent is centred around what other people think of my child and what they are wearing! Gah. She's 6 and a half now and has pretty much never worn skirts or dresses, completely her choice from the time she was old enough to choose. It doesn't stop the occasional stranger commenting that she'd look "so pretty in a dress" arrrgh. I'm a huge believer in supporting a child to make their own choices from the time they are old enough to do so (provided they are safe choices for them and others). I don't get how so many people feel that things are their business (when they really aren't!) I also experience this as a disabled person and disabled parent. Some folk just need the drama I guess!

To be fair, children under 2 years are not supposed to wear masks (as far as I know I could be wrong), but that could be solved by... keeping them at home so there still is no excuse. Although not everyone has someone to take care of their child when they go out, so that could be a possible scenario where they would have their child out at a store or something without a mask. But they could take precautions like pulling the hood of the baby carrier over like a mask but not directly on their face

Exactly! They are latin terms. The Romans used them for example to refer to the lands on their side of the Alps (the upper part of Italy) which was called cisalpine and on the other side of the Alps (what used to be Gallia and today is mostly France) which was called transalpine. They are words that are thousands of years old and are nothing more than descriptive terms, people don´t get to just claim they are slurs when they absolutely are not.

Regarding the "dad in the supermarket vs mom in the supermarket" stereotype... my parents are exactly like that but I, being a child and wanting to be like my dad for shockingly trans reasons, was more like my dad in that I hated shopping and hated taking forever in the market and hated looking at clothes and food and so on. But as I got older and took on the role of stay-at-home spouse to keep it tidy and clean, I noticed how drastic my shift was in shopping. Now I love looking at clothes, cleaning products, cooking stuff, so on... because it's things to help me care for the thing I spend the most time in and the most time caring for. It's a completely genderless experience. The more time you spend tending to something important, the more likely you are to be interested in buying the things needed to continue to tend to it, leading to "traditional" moms displaying those shopping behaviors as opposed to "traditional" dads, who just wanna grab something and gtfo.

However, the labels of "gay" "trans" "straight" "cis" can help people understand others and help guide them when finding themselves. I'm demisexual, and- although I'm not a 100% fit into the label- it makes me feel at ease knowing that there are others similar to me. That I'm not alone. I can see where they can be a bad thing, but I also rely on the label as a sense of community- so it's not really derogatory to everyone is what I'm saying. I don’t understand why people try to convince anyone of anything. I don’t even believe any more that it’s about educating people. People on both sides of any polarizing issue share exactly the same need to control the narrative and what other people think. It’s pointless and a waste of time, since most people are demonstrably unable to learn new concepts or to let go of their own preconceptions. Give it up. Nobody learns, nobody listens, everybody feels victimized.

Face it, there are a lot of uneducated people out there and a lot of people who have been "educated" by arseholes with a hatred of anyone not the same as themselves. Frankly, I want to find some place where cis gendered heterosexual people like myself *and* all manner of people of different genders, sexual orientations, gender expressions etc can live and enjoy our lives and not be plagued by uneducated haters. Sadly, there seems to be no place like that and we're forced to contend with total arseholes for whom *hatred* is more important than understanding. This is why I want to live long enough to see us build colonies and habitats outside of Earth - then perhaps we could build a colony elsewhere with decent "entry criteria": "Are you trans or cis..." "I'm NORMAL, DAMMIT!" "Application denied. Next, please!"

Agreed! (Also a trans guy) I say looking like a fantasy character needs to be normalized by the fashion industry. No more of this “cosplay” stuff. I want to look like a Dúnedain ranger or Zindane from Final Fantasy IX without getting funny looks from the boringly dressed public! 🧐 I’ve got a pair of genuine medieval-style boots just lying in my closet, sad and longing for a Renaissance festival.

@Fucking grass Yes!! (Though I do trim my beard.) only reason I cut my long hair is that there wasn’t much difference between when I brushed it or not. xD Kept getting too tangled...I miss it though!

I agree that finding out you're going to have a baby at all is much more exciting than finding out the sex. My child's father and I both wanted a girl and were pleased to find out that's what the genitals indicated, to be blunt. The kid is almost 25 years old now, and it seems so bizarre that we cared so much what was between their legs. People used to get MAD at me when they'd say "What his name?" and I'd reply with their obviously female name "If it's a GIRL, why is she in BLUE?" or "Well, she LOOKS like a boy!" (Babies don't look like a gender, there are literally no visible indicators except clothing stereotypes!) 9r else backpedal with things that aren't remotely indicators of gender, like "Of course, look at those delicate hands" or "I should have know, from the long eyelashes!" The "child" has been genderfluid for several years and we still love them just as much. They're still smart, compassionate and funny, and that's much more important than having pink as a favorite color or watching Hannah Montana or whatever.

What really gets me is that when these types of people talk about the “ideal” woman, they describe someone who is quiet, skinny, and short/small. Like, okay….. you want a child?????

“Children should not wear masks, it is damaging to their growth..” Me, a 13 year old girl who feels anxious even going to check the mail without my mask on, and hasn’t gotten sick in over a year due to wearing masks, despite having a lung issue that does make me more susceptible to sicknesses like that, and overall just more comfy in a mask: Ah yes, I have a crash in my mental and physical health now.
