Those 2 women are disgusting, not just for the blatant transphobia, but laughing about parents not providing a caring home for their children is just so nasty. If either of my sons turned out to be trans or just even part of the LGBTQ+, you can be sure as hell that my house will be a safe place for them and I will support them. If parents can't even do that, then they are unfit to be parents.

The most dangerous people are those with a deep conviction in their own belief. Especially if it's a shitty belief. If a person has an unshakable conviction in the righteousness of their cause, then they will do terrible things - because in their mind, they are the good guys. What we see here is a rather low-level, incoherent demonstration of this: They believe that they are fighting the good fight by standing up to stupid liberal perverts, so they feel no guilt. These two though, are only a modest example: They don't care enough to do anything really serious. They aren't the ones who will go out to murder people: They don't have that sort of dedication. Even as transphobes they are pathetic failures.

I think it really offends them because it shows that life goes on after one removes their boobs. Their whole fearmongering is based on concepts of 'irreversible damage'. They're selling the idea of an end. There isn't room for an 'after' in which one enjoys hot chocolate and/or coffee. (Let's split the difference and call it mocha.) The very depiction of a dude unconcerned with his transition and more focused on delicious mocha implies their entire movement is trivial and stuck in the past. Which, of course, it is.

But because the TERFs are treating human beings as part of some weird gender power struggle, they see people as victories and casualties. They can conceptualize (as antagonists) trans people proud of winning access to medicine, or detransitioners unhappy with their results, or some fantasy about kids being forced to take pills by evil endrochronologists. But mocha has no place in war zones. If their 'casualties' keep wolfing down mocha, is there really a struggle to begin with?

That was back in 2007. First thing I noticed when I woke up from surgery was just how much easier it was to breathe (they removed nearly 7 lbs/ 3 kilos off my chest). Literally it's one of the best things I ever did for myself. Top surgeries are necessary for EVERY body. TERFs are literally just campaigning to make their own lives and ability to manage their own health concerns privately as cis women more difficult to get. Need a mastectomy due to cancer, a breast reduction, or want implants? Too bad cis! You campaigned against your right to get that "for a laugh"! Hell even kid Rock, the guy that bought a bunch of Bud light to shoot it with machine gun has been seen drinking Bud lights several times since that video. Luckily she does listen to evidence and I was able to explain that scientists have found a difference between male and female brains and transpeople have the brains associated with the gender they are, not the one they were assigned at birth. I'm not so sure how to deal with non-binary people but at least she understands straight male to female or female to male transpeople. But that's one person who now understands but soo many people will just be picking up more casual transphobia like she had. I was pulled into a meeting by my bosses because of tensions between me and a coworker. One of the subjects she brought up was that I keep making her uncomfortable by talking about being trans. I told everyone there that if someone is transphobic, I’m no longer here to be their friend or coworker. I’m also here to expose them to the truth so that they don’t spew their toxic ideas at other people like me who aren’t as resilient. She told me she thinks everyone’s just pretending to see me as a woman, that they’re just being nice, that they can all tell. That’s why I started making her uncomfortable and any further views she’s given have been equally as bad. These kinds of comments could legitimately push people into a spiral of self hatred and harm - and so I told my managers exactly that. I’m preventing suffering. Someone who espouses those views doesn’t deserve to feel comfortable around me until they can be comfortable WITH me. All of me. If you can take the heat, do what I’m doing. Exposure to trans people and interaction with what it means to be trans is how we destroy bigoted ideas and opinions. I’ve already changed how quite a few people around me see trans people, especially in places where there’s more trans people than just me - and it’s literally saved so much suffering. Stigma vanishes in the light. If you can be that light, then you should be it.

I will never understand people getting triggered or angry over some surgery scars. Yes, in the case of the Costa art it _was_ depicting a transmale - however that's not the _only_ reason someone might have chest scars like that. Cis-men _can_ also get breast cancer, and I've seen almost identical scars on male survivors during my time in the cancer treatment centre of my local hospital. Even surgery on the chest muscles can result in similar scars. So people getting angry are making some pretty big assumptions thinking someone depicted with those scars absolutely _has_ to be trans. I wish people would learn to leave others alone. If it's not directly affecting _your_ life in any way, you have no right to stick your nose in. Just let people live in peace! Better yet, if you _really_ don't like it, why not do the same thing you do on a daily basis with things like starving kids in other countries or victims of natural disasters in other countries/continents ... and just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist? Put it out of your mind entirely and you'll feel _so_ much better and have _so much_ less stress in your own personal lives!!

She's the type of person that opposes trans rights and doesn't know the difference between sex and gender and says "if you born a man or woman you can't change that" She doesn't know that I'm planning to move out of the country to study abroad. (Also I just kind of needed to put this out into the world, bit of a vent) Additional context: I'm non-binary, and I don't exactly identify with the trans community but I do support them and fight for them.

I'm sorry that you can't get along with your mother but she is right: you can't change biology. If you are born a man, you will always stay a man. Ofcourse there is a difference between gender and sex but man/male and woman/female are words related to sex, not related to gender. If these words are also related to gender then how is that possible? Gender and sex are different things but the outcome is the same? The impact of biology doesn't mean shit compared to identity? Gender is more important/stronger than biology?

A child getting top surgury is a thought out procedure where all the possible consequences are identified and explained and everyone is 100% sure it is something that is needed. Nobody is giving children life and body changing surgery just for the giggles. If someone under 18 is getting this procedure done it is because they, their parent(s)/guardian(s), their doctors, and their therapist have decided it is necessary to make them happier and prevent depression/self ending. It is done to kids in their mid to late teens who understand cause and effect, and that the procedure is permanent and could have serious bad effects (as with all surgeries). @@hollystop some 12 year olds do have enough breast tissue to remove. However, trans children are nearly always put on puberty blockers so that they can reevaluate their decision to transition when they are over 18. Only in the most acute cases will a doctor even consider breast removal for a patient under 18, or indeed 21. As in, this child has repeatedly attempted suicide and we have tried literally everything else including social transition. Most 12 year olds getting their breasts reduced or removed are cisgender women who are cancer patients or have back problems due to large breasts. Which yes, this does happen.

Oh yeah, because my cramps were so bad I passed out and the only thing that even touched the pain was narcotics. I'm also trans, so the gender reasons were just a bonus. One person even went so far as to say I shouldn't have been *allowed* to get a hysterectomy to treat my cramps *because* I'm trans "to teach you a lesson". It's the fact they felt the need to clarify that they 'wanted to take the piss out of trans people' who react to being misgendered. If they just took the piss out of that, then, yeah, it would have come across as high school bullying (well, worse, because it would be two adults mocking someone who's seemingly a child based on how they're describing the person). With that "We just wanted to pop bac into our car to take the piss out of" it comes across as this ludicrous facimily of bullying. They can't even do highschool levels of bullying well, they have this idea that it would be 'such fun' to mock a child (or someone who came across as a child from the way they described them) as part of their 'terfing' and instead of just doing it, they feel the need to explain what they're doing. It's so pathetic.

When I was little growing up, I knew that trans people existed and just thought 'that's nice' and carried on with my day. It never occured to me that people would be mean to trans people (because there is no reason to be mean)! It wasn't until I was old enough to use social media and the internet that I saw trans people experience hate. It is so sad. And goes to show that children really don't care if someone is trans. Also, children are busy doing fun things. Whereas adults that are transphobic maybe have too much time on their hands and so sometimes are simply looking for a target to be mean to.

Indeed, honestly there are better things that one can fill their free time with. In my opinion, the amount of energy you spend on being angry at anything at all is not worth it, and you get hardly anything back. Instead spending energy on something you enjoy, something that's fun, will be much more worth it.

I've been in stores that only catered to femme style clothes (I'm AMAB and NB but I can't really express that entirely now) and the staff of all women are like "Would you like to try that on? Here's the changing room!" And this is a country that is still struggling to legalize gay marriage due to miles of red tape, even though 80% of the people here either fully support it or are simply ok with it.

I was heavily influenced by the transmedicalism of the time I got mine done in and felt pressured to go flatter than I actually wanted. I am nonbinary, androgynous, and I wanted small breasts, but transmeds are vile and I didn't want to be seen as lesser and hadn't deconstructed that in myself at the time. I wish I had!
