Thank you so much David Tate for these videos. I appreciate you taking the time to do these breakdowns! They are really helpful in understanding the Biblical from the other categories. Great job!

Quintus' and Gaius' story reminds me of 1 Samuel 2:30: "But now the LORD says: (...) for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed." So Quintus had been demoted and Gaius was honoured.

The olive press showed a way in which Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane would be like. As the olive have the pressure applied to them the oil gets squeezed from the olive like the pressure of what Christ was suffering with squeeze blood from his pores.

I like your thoughts on the episode. You laugh at the chronology, my nitpick that cracks me up is the abundance of papyrus and literacy in an oral 1st century culture 😉 Season 4 has been a bit better, but as a lover of history and historical fiction I pick up on presentism and it makes me laugh. I'm forgiving when presentism helps a modern audience relate to history though - rap battles = pamphlet writing in "Hamilton" for example. The Chosen does a bit of that too I think.

I guess one thing that makes me overlook the literacy thing is that, in general, it seems like there was a higher literacy rate amongst Jewish men in 1st century Israel than in most other cultures, even if that literacy would've mainly been limited to the basics of biblical Hebrew🤣🤷‍♂️

Hi there how are you doing!? I must say you have probably broken the record for speed talking on this video. Thank you for it, but it was so quick and so fast. I must say that it was more like I was listening to a recording speeded it up. So thank you for it of course but perhaps next time you could talk a little bit more engagingly? Ha ha Of course you are very well loved and I enjoy you every time but this was really a speedy one I must admit! .

He is the best fast talker I ever heard. I often have to them down to 75%, in order to understand. But his annunciation is so good, I understand every word.

Made for man to have an easier way to relate to Jesus and the Bible. It does not have to be 100% biblical, as the Bible leaves out much history, or it would be so big no person could ever get through it.

Sort of, but it's more of an inspiration to get you to read the bible. To understand the bible you must read the Bible, must have the beginning of faith at minimum. This is show is entertaining and based on the bible , but if you get your understanding of the bibke from here, we'll that I'd going to be a problem. History is important, because it's only what's important that is written, so changing that at all, already changes things to much. Enjoy the show, find inspiration to read and learn more of the bible, search more understanding, onky the bibke can give that, but the show can give your inspiration a jump start, your mind more of an idea of the time looked, which when you read and pray will be helpful.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but Jesus died at the age of 33 [no?]; and his birth certified the change of time [B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (stands for Anno Domini, which is Latin for in the year of the Lord)]. So this confuses me when you and others state that historically, Jesus died in the year 29, when logically shouldn't he have died in the year 33?

So the BC/AD shift actually comes from a miscalculation. Jesus was most likely born in late 5 BC / early 4 BC, which means he would've been 33 in AD 30. That being said, there are still many people who argue he could have died in AD 33, in which case he would have probably been about 36 years old

It is most understandable that movies on Christ have been done before... where the only words spoken are what is in the Bible only. Every word spoken is only from the Bible. Most of these kind of movies only last a very short period of time. Nothing like the Chosen. You want nothing but Biblical... then go read the Bible.

I didn't say I only wanted biblical. I just figured that this series of videos would be helpful for people who wanted to know what was biblical and what was not.

@@NowLetsBeHonest Since I started watching The Chosen when it first came out... I use read how people were not going to watch it because it wasn't all Biblical and therefore a product of Satan. Just so much complaining all the time. I love the Chosen because they try to stay as close to Biblical as they can but I like all the parts that has to do with family and friends etc. I do not watch The Chosen to be taught the Bible... I do that on my own... what I want and love it the probability that this could have happened... not that it did. I suppose you are doing a service to those who have the need to know without finding out for themselves. I apologize if I seemed somewhat putout... it was just more frustration on my part than anything you did or said. Sorry.
