I believe The Chosen's artistic licence they sometimes take, as with Channukah Gifts, is part of their effort to make the times of 2000 years ago, more relatable and palatable for current audiences...it would be hard to merge the book ends of such a historical time gap without appropriate threads of relatable suggestions... The Chosen is not a series which 'preaches to the choir'...it is meant to perk interest in a world wide audience, about this Magnificent God/Man who entered the world to take upon Himself the burden of sacrifice and pay in full the deadly consequence for what the first Adam did by squandering the precious gift of Life and Wisdom, and eternal relationship with the Creator... The God/Man who overcame and conquered death, and who offers His victory and sacrifice as Gift of Salvation to all who would just reach out to Him and accept it in full... What truly warms my heart, is that the majority of comments on the episodes are not those of condemnation or ridicule...but of displaying an interest to wipe off the dust from Bibles long neglected...and opening them again to read with a closer scrutiny, and perhaps even discovering nuggets that for centuries where just glanced over, and disregarded... What I also appreciate, is the fact that the cast and crew come from many different walks, philosophies and religious backgrounds...and yet...what better way to minister to THEM, having them act out the very Gospel, they might have rejected...scorned and ridiculed in years prior...and seeing the light in their eyes when even they begin to join the dots... Shalom from Israel...

Stoning is so gruesome. For some reason, I never think about that, even when reading about Stephen. I enjoy your reviewing Dallas’s moveable art. God bless.

Think about it this way God is Life Separation from Life leads to death God is also Holy (within him there is no sin) Thus the wages of sin is death Since God is Holy (without sin) the wages (sum owed) to he that has sinned is separation from Life. You say Stoning is Gruesome and perhaps God agrees which is why he uses it to convey how seriously sin is to the point that he shows you how sin ultimately leads to death by separation from he who is Life and Holy

I argue against the accuracy stoning scene. Every time I can find a stoning described in the bible the Jews take the condemned out of the camp or the city. Given that death and blood are unclean I can't imagine that they would try to kill someone inside the temple. Besides the account says they tried to seize him but Jesus was hidden from them.

Yeah biblically speaking I imagine they were preparing to stone him, but he escaped before they ever got the chance

@@NowLetsBeHonest I’ve heard the only place the Jews could inflict death was in the temple. There were even signs (in multiple languages) that stated if you entered and were unclean or a Gentile, that you would be put to death.

@@NowLetsBeHonest I would also argue that the way the show is structured creates problems with the disciple's stories. In the show they are facing stoning, arrest, and murder. If they face that now and they still follow Jesus, why would they run away at Gethsemane. In the gospels it says that no one could lay a hand on Jesus because his time had not yet come. It makes more sense that the disciples see increasing victories and have their beliefs turned upside down when Jesus is arrested.

I’m so glad you mentioned pouting Thomas. It was bugging me so much. I saw so many comments during the livestream of the episode be like “poor Thomas, he misses Ramah so much” or “Thomas was grieving so much I just wanted to hug him” etc. meanwhile, I’m like ok maybe I’m a jerk cuz I was like seriously Thomas, knock it off. Lol. I understand he was grieving still and was sad but they really made him emo and as if Jesus was like nah, I won’t address this.

I think that’s what bothers me most about that plot line, I mean, we see on screen that Jesus freaking brought someone back from the dead, One of his most important and consequential miracles in the scriptures and it’s just overshadowed by this fake plot. I know people had issues last season with the Simon and Eden storyline, but I think at the end of the day that enhanced the walking on the water scene, but I just don’t see how the Thomas storyline is going to enhance anything other than adding to the doubting Thomas Storyline that we know from scripture. Even with that, I feel like there would’ve been a better way to set us up for doubting Thomas.

@@susalkasarahiI think the scene was to relate to those who are followers of Christ and let’s say they pray for something and God seemingly doesn’t answer and someone else prays for something and they get their prayers answered and they ask God why them and not me, God has a plan and even if we don’t know it Gods plan is always for the greater good NOT for our most coveted requests, we may think God should do it our way but we don’t see the full picture

This is just an opinion, but I think the writers of the show are relying on people not knowing scripture and/or history.
