The Case of Bruce McArthur

Ойын-сауық

CORRECTION: You may notice an edit around the 4.30 mark, that is as I edited a section out. I was discussing Bruce McArthur's first victim and the circumstances of the attack, my information was completely incorrect, my apologies for that.
From 2010 to 2017, in the Church and Wellesley area of Toronto, an alarming number of men went missing. There would be various projects and operations to try and solve these worrying vanishings, but nothing would come of it. That was until the police followed a certain Bruce McArthur, and arrested him at the perfect time: when he was about to strike again.

It made me especially sad for these men. So many of them were known to have close relationships with pets. Imagine the birdies, kitties, and dogs, not knowing what happened to their person. So incredibly sad, looking at those pictures with the animals. I hope their families can find peace.

This is something that always crosses my mind during these kind of documentaries. How do you explain the disappearance of a loved one to small children or pets? I always worry about my cats, should anything happen to me, but I know and was promised that my family would take care of them in the same loving way that I do. I hope the pets were taken care of by the families of the victims.

Honestly, I think this would make for really good inspiration for a thriller/horror movie, starring a killer with two visages, from his perspective. Looking at him anybody would swear he's straight and devoted to his wife, the kids would also love sitting on his lap and ask for xmas gifts while he poses as Santa... But the other half of the flick, having a more dark photography and dizzy pace, would show him as a ruthless predator, preying on refugees, drug users and married men on the closet, all creepily dependent of him, both materially and affectively... I watched Apocalypse Now, recently, and this duality reminds me of this quote about the two parts cohabiting within the same man, with the one who kills and the one who loves...

We rush people into college or the military at young immatuere ages because they are more pliant, more malleable, easily manipulated... still quite easy to being persuaded into believint that accumulation of material wealth is the only true evidence of success... We're doing socialization, the stuff we ARE aware of and can change systems and relationshiops to accommodate, all wrong. There are several solutions, easily implemented solutions to pressing urgent issues that ultimately affect us all, like just how skrewed up the whol system of "education" is esp in the U.S. of A. The abandoned animals gives this case an even sadder tone. A puppy who lost their master, birds who died because their father never came home, a cat left alone without food or water... Sounds just like my neighborhood in the good Ole USA. Lots of meth houses, lots of people dying(even though they are mostly older folks dying still suspicious), lots of human trafficking going on. I report things to police and nothing happens. Meth heads run around the neighborhood all night long. A lot of them are the neighbors on meth. Yet the police see nothing and do nothing. I guess if you ignore criminals they aren't there is the police's philosophy. I see the police protect criminals not innocent, hardworking, taxpaying citizens. I help pay their wages by paying taxes yet they protect criminals who make their living illegally and pay no taxes! Go figure, democracy at work.

He was minimal risk based on everything an outsider can assess about him. He comes across as a perfectly logical harmless man, well outside the clinical offender profile of anyone frankly capable of this kind of thing. He found the only loophole a pot-bellied ageing man of his type could possibly manage to overpower younger stronger men, and that’s by striking when they willingly allow themselves to be tied up. Minimal risk doesn’t mean no risk, and unfortunately sociopaths like this can convince the very best of us.
