The Klaus Family Murders

Ойын-сауық

In remote Alberta, Canada, the Klaus family were successful farmers. However, when there was a tragic fire at the Klaus abode, son Jason Klaus was the sole survivor. As the investigation began, Jason would tell of visits by ghosts, with the ghosts telling him some very specific things about the fire, and a certain deer head.

The Mr. Big technique is notorious and very high profile, so I can't believe people don't smell a rat when this sort of thing manifests itself. Yeah, he was pretty obvious, and corny. Having said that, human psychology makes it unbelievably easy to "con" anyone including criminals. Here in Australia we had a Mr Big operation that helped catch a pedophile and child murderer. Many years after the fact, he led the Mr Big team to the remains of a deceased child. Yet, others are still falling for the same shtick, thank goodness. Criminals fall for the same guiles the rest of us do - make us think we are special/unique, offer us an upgrade in "status" (in this case, criminal status), stroke our egos (balls of steel/stone cold killer) etc etc. There is no way that guy just "figured out while he was sitting there" how to beat the polygraph by clenching his butt (sphincter). That is google-worthy knowledge, so I guess he could read some.

I realize THIS guy was guilty as hell, but I always hate it when it’s noted that someone refused to submit to a polygraph test. Refusing one is totally reasonable. There’s a reason they’re inadmissible in court. They’re definitely not accurate and if you’re innocent and fail one the police then have a hard on for you as a key suspect and it can ruin your life. There’s no way in hell I’d ever submit to a polygraph.

you're basically screwed either way with them. They are usually inadmissible, but they can be admissible under certain circumstances. I don't really remember the details as far as what causes them to be admissible, but I imagine that'd be easy to google. No matter what happens with them you can be made to look guilty, and yeah, if you refuse it they'll just use that against you. Legally if the polygraph is deemed inadmissible they can't even mention that you refused one in court, but that doesn't stop the media from spreading it.

22:13 “DO YOU?” That undercover cop is practically salivating at the thought of uncovering that evidence, he can’t help but sound giddy when he’s asking about it. So, you’re telling me that this guy was smart enough to figure out how to fool the polygraph machine as he was sitting there but he can’t pick up on how suspicious this random-ass man’s questions are or the unnecessary enthusiasm he expels over the details of the murder? There’s no alarm bells going off in that guys head saying “It’s a trap!”?

It's bc of their psychological make-up. Josh is exhibiting signs of psychopathy & narcissism. His primary goal is feeding his ego, and that goes beyond self-preservation instincts. A psychopath will want to brag and be lauded for depraved behavior. I think the urge to do that would well outweigh any alarm bells cautioning them that it might be a trap. And with Jason, I think his brain was addled by drugs so bad that he was desperate for someone to step in to help him. He also was a narcissist, imo. He'd just killed his supply source bc they had threatened to cut him off of the nipple. A few months of worrying, gnashing of the teeth, drugs, and pressure from the cops, and along comes a saviour... who then vows to take care of everything, much like his parents had in the past. Dependent personality.

You have to remember this guy had committed crimes with them and possibly spent a lot of time with them as well as the other psychological tricks mentioned by the comment poster above. They probably didn't know it was even legal for an undercover cop to do that. Somehow he gained their trust and that should be acknowledged as good work by the undercover guy, he managed not to spook them off and get a full confession. We are only seeing the last part.
