Baseline and Serial | Two Active Killers in Phoenix

Ойын-сауық

Throughout 2005 and 2006, a string of very disturbing instances occurred in Phoenix which appeared to be only happening more frequently. It took time, but the police would realise that there was not one monster on the loose, there were two, and the methods of catching each would be very different.

Seriously impressive! The artist has to translate the description into an image that represents the memory of the person describing, and the person describing has to use words that will properly convey their memory, and their sighting and memory needs to be accurate enough... A properly representative criminal sketch like that is incredibly impressive and doesn't get enough credit on both parties' ends

The thing with killers is that they're not scared of dying, that's not the reason why they oppose the Death sentence. The real reason they oppose it is because it puts them in the same shoes as their victims. They don't want someone to have the power over whether they live or die. They can't stand being on the same level as the people they killed who had their deaths decided for them! That's why a lot them end of committing suicide, as an act of defiance and control, they're basically saying "I refuse to be a victim" - dying by someone else's hand basically negates the sense of power they got from killing their victims! From being 'the one who decided others deaths' to being the 'one who's death is decided by others' is a huge blow to their ego!

Mike, I've lived here in Phoenix for ten years (next month), and the heat really does make people wonky. The summers last seven-and-a-half months, with the months on either end plenty hot, too. People are irritable as hell in the summer, and September is just awful, because by then the unrelenting heat has gone on and on and on. (Last year, 2021, we broke all kinds of records: Number of days in a row above 100 degrees, number of days in a row above 110 degrees, number of days in a row the overnight low was 95 or higher, on and on.) The daytime temps don't become bearable again until mid-November. Oh, and thunderstorms? We get them, but they are "dry thunderstorms" *because the rain falls out of the clouds but evaporates before the water reaches the Earth's surface!!!* Right now, at 1:49 AM, there is a "cop copter" circling over my neighborhood. About 30 minutes ago I heard a series of gun shots. Frankly, I don't even call anymore because they are so common, and half the time it's just some drunk shooting off his gun for kicks, unfortunately. But the crime is just nuts here - daily horrors and with a 3,000-officer shortage, the criminals are running rampant. I've lived in five states and only here have I called 911 once or twice a month for the entire ten years I've lived here (usually to get help for someone else, or to have something odd checked out, but occasionally to get help for myself, such as the time someone came to my door at 2:50 AM asking me, no, telling me, to open my door and let them in.) People are allowed to "concealed carry" here, as in, anyone can have a damn loaded gun tucked into their waistband and have their shirt over it, hiding it. Many people walk around with a gun on their belts, for all to see. This place seems to have a Wild, Wild West vibe to it. It therefore attracts all kinds of people who are either too eccentric to fit into, and function in, normal society, or people who are outright hiding from something I just despise this place. The only reason it is growing like it has is because there are no natural disasters here. So businesses won't have to shut down due to snow blizzards, or tornadoes, or hurricanes, or earthquakes taking out the infrastructure, or anything else. Yes, it's hot, but the heat generally doesn't impede a business from functioning. So businesses move here, and then there are jobs, and then there are people. Phoenix is horrid, but populated because of jobs, not because Phoenix is good in any way. Welp, that's my $0.02.

I decided I wanted to get away from the comfortable air-conditioned inside environment for a few minutes to see what extreme heat feels like. As soon as I went outside, it felt like my brain was boiling inside my head. I only lasted about five minutes outside before I couldn't take it anymore. I had to return to the cool interior of the air-conditioned building. It was 117°f (47°c) that day.

I was in college and my friends partied in Scottsdale all the time. We attended first Friday's, rode the light rail through the city. Went to the parks, the mall, Dave and Buster's, Harkins. We had this carefree attitude that almost disappeared when it sunk in that there was some sort of elusive and evil force preying on people. We'd ask our friend Dave to hang out and he often stood us up or showed up really late so we made this joke that he was probably the rapist. Turns out he had this fear of getting shot because of the neighborhood he grew up in. Those were strange days.

The wife fell for his charming lies. Women are nurturing by nature so when a master manipulator pours his heart out about his childhood or whatever, some fall for that and think they can help them but of course they can't but the charmer has them believing they can.
