Zendaya in Dune, reminds me of a thing I hate in movies. The phenomenon of people in a family, or friends group that grew up together, not having a similar accent. Someone growing up in London, but having a Scottish accent? Come on.

Couldn't disagree more about the slang question. If you have someone talking with a modern vernacular in a period or otherworldly setting it really takes you out of it. A lot of this happening on Disney Plus. That fucking Hippo in Moon Knight is a perfect example

Says the person who forgot the period at the end of their sentence, didn’t capitalize a proper noun, and used “life” to refer to multiple people. You should have put “their lives”.

I agree with your points on the Boys. One of my all time favorite shows, but I hope they don’t start leaning so hard on the politics and stick with the character arcs and great story telling.

55:03 I hate when john gets smug. Regardless of them trying to sell the film (though not a single counteroffer is pretty telling) it still doesn't excuse WB scrapping a completed film and screwing over the creatives. This tax write off isn't saving the company, its just extra cash to please investors (which isn't working), and just because it was a good business decision doesn't make Zazlav any less of a dick. Treating people as means rather than ends, is like bad boss 101, and Zazlav has shown his true colors. Sure I can't tell him what to do with his money but I can tell him hes a soulless CEO who doesn't understand the creative side of Hollywood

His job isn’t to understand the creative side of Hollywood, it’s to delegate those who do. He gifted DC an entire studio, its own devision, something it never had, hired some of the best guys in the business to achieve success. Cruize, Jordan, Coogler, Robbie, they’ve doubled down over there, creatives. It’s easy to attack the one controversy that the average film goer doesn’t even know exists, then to pay attention to the overall strategy. He canceled Batgirl, and yet she’ll be back. The Looney Tunes are immortal at WB. Imagine if you’re Sony, they wish they could go back in time and axe Madame Web. When bad films like that come out they can be career killers in themselves. If Dakota Johnson doesn’t get work again it’d primarily be because of that film. Theirs wisdom in making tough decisions. Gotta take your feeling out of it, because 90 plus percent of the creatives do.

Seethe and cry. This movie is a waste of money and even if it released in theatres with all the controversy it would still be a loss. His job is to run a company and give people the opportunity to be creative, not be a creative person.

@JamealTaylor You do realize the day Coyote vs Acme was canceled was the day after the Actors Strike was ended. They had a really bad quarter and need to lighten their books. This was a soulless decision. Sorry but most companies release films that have been completed even if they think it's going to bomb. Batgirl you could almost justify because they're rebooting DC but Coyote vs Acme was just to please investors for the current quarter, not some sort of "hard decision" Zazlav was crying about. Remember they said Batgirl was a one time thing, why did they change their mind 🤔 (the actors and writers strike was prolly it) This is a decision a wall street person or ChatGPT would make, not someone who actually likes filmmakers or movies. Personally I think it would have made more than 75 million (the 35$ tax cut + 40 million marketing) so that would've have been about 125$ Worldwide after the theaters cut, but that doesn't matter because it was a spit in the face of creators in the pursuit of quick cash. Makes me not like zazlav
