The Best Lacing Needles & More Efficient Nylon Whip Falls

In this video, we'll look at what I believe to be the best threaded needles on the market for making nylon falls and knots. Also, we'll be making a two-step nylon fall with paracord fed inside of itself for one half of the length, and a single hollow strand for the second half. I drew the inspiration for making these types of falls from Adam and Dakota Winrich.

This is awesome, thank you so much. I just wish this had come out a week ago. I gave myself blisters last week trying to work that lacing needle through some neon yellow that must have shrunk just enough. I absolutely related to finding the hammer.

I love it nick!! Lol hellyeahhhhh!!!! I use a micro Nano paracord needle that stainless steel. That way if the melted part of the Paracord breaks off in the needle just hate the needle up and it burns out of it. Nice video Nick keep up the good work

Fun fact, I am an avid crafter and among other things, I knit. I have found that interchangeable knitting needles work with paracord. I've actually only used those since pretty early on. I think mine are size 3 or 4, and they work great

I have all three sizes of jig pro shop, got it with a knotters tool they fit inside. I used them for my other paracord projects, but will probably pick up a couple more of the type Is. The weaves I have done on my walking sticks are very similar to what is used for whipmaking and I am looking forward to doing whips. Thanks for your video!

Nick have you ever made a whip with 1/4inch sinker cord, its comparable in price per 1000ft but feels a little heavier and sturdier.ive been working up to starting on my own whip and have acquired 1/4,3/4,1/2 sinker cords to investigate making a core and noticed the slight difference to the 3/16 whipmakers cord I acquired.

Where do you recommend buying large bulk 550 & 1100 paracord for food prices? I prefer mostly jet black, hunting safety orange, blue, and occasionally camo Green colors.

Hi Nick, I´m in no way familiar with whips as you are but as you talked about the maintenance of the single strand fall I asked myself why not just thread a small piece like an 1/3 oa inch back into the tip to prolong life expectance? would it effect the cracking or did just noone think about it before?! regards smarty

Would making the fall out of kevlar 550 paracord(its real look it up) help it from tearing up as easy? I hate changing the size of my fall as often as once a week. Although even with leather, the fall has to be changed. But my friends and i enjoy cracking the whip i make a lot. So if I make the fall out of kevlar would it help with the degradation?

P.s. ive made 2 8 ft whips a 9 ft amd a snake whip from your videos. I refuse to sell what ive made so far. I do NOT use electric tape for binding at all since my first whip. The e tape broke and sheared so its dangerous to crack if you arent use to it. I have a scar from cracking it. When i was learning. But your videos are awesome.

Cool video, I’ll have to give the needles a try. I’ve been using the small Tandy needles but as you said they are really short. As for the falls Adam showed me this as well and I’ve been making them like this. It’s especially good on the stockwhips as they are a lot lighter. Also if you melt the paracord on the end of the fall a little more so it cools into a small bead you can tie a traditional cracker knot and I’ve not had any tear off like the way it will if you poke a hole through the fall. Give it a try!

You say the brass wore out too quick? But most of the JigPro needles are aluminum which is also a soft metal.

@@madeofmagic841 I use 650 cordless and you just have to create a tight singed end of the paracord. I cut it at an angle and only melt the tip the twirl it between my fingers. Good luck!

Nick, i love your videos(bob ross of whips and all) BUT Remove some of your older content. OR add a disclaimer to the beginning that you have a new and improved method for doing whats in your videos from a few years back. If YOU do not use that method at all anymore, do not teach people who are new to your page, and who are just learning whip making, and do not know you have new videos on the same thing, to learn to how to make a whip that will dissappoint them in about 30 to 100 cracks. Also include overall lenght of cord needed so its not a surprise when someone needs 275 foot of paracord to make the entire 8 foot 16 plait bullwhip. This is all in love and support man. I know some times they just need to make their first whip as I did. But electric tape for binding is terrible. Not everyone can afford sinew and a vice but its neccesary and rolling your whips the best you can at each stage is neccesary, for a well made whip(it really is some people can make do but its harder). Btw my 9ft whip is a dream come true. And my snake whip has a double crack if you do a normal cattlemans crack i love it. I have friends that pick my whips up like they kniw what they are doing. Its funny. They learn quick like they dont like pain as much as whips. Lol. My opinion on including overall length is because an 8 ft bull whip takes First belly 11.6'x2. 8' 5' Second belly 24'x2 19' 13.5' 8.5' 5' Overlay 27'x2 25' 22' 17' 13' 9' 5' Plus a 1/4 dia. By 10 1/4 inch long steel rod, if thats the way you go. ALSO. The weighting you use with bb's and the way you drop strands is entirely different. And make a difference in the outcome. Sorry to anyone who has read this far and already know. I hope nick reads it and hears what im getting at.
