To create this Iraq series, I teamed up with my guides at Bil Weekend ( / bilweekend | bilweekend.com/) and my good friend and fellow travel filmmaker Tasos Karantakos ( / agreeksolo .
I continued my exploration of Basra, Iraq’s only port city, with a tasty Iraqi fish lunch and a tour of the biggest football stadium in the country! It was truly an incredible Iraqi Food Feast. I think Basra has the BEST SEAFOOD in Iraq.
FISH LUNCH: For lunch, we headed to a local restaurant for some fried zubaidi fish, saffron rice, biryani, hummus, tabbouleh, bamya (okra stew), fasolia (white bean stew), fattoush (salad with toasted flatbread), and baba ganoush. I loved the turmeric-and-flour crust and buttery meat of the fish, and the hummus and baba ganoush were good enough to eat by themselves!
STADIUM VISIT: After lunch, we drove to Basra International Stadium, the largest stadium in Iraq! We enjoyed VIP access and got access to the field, where we kicked around a ball and had some fun!

Fish marinated in tumeric tastes really good and especially with any type of rice...all the foods looked delicious as always..And the stadiym is really amazing ...glad you and Tasos and the guys had some fun times also...Another beautiful video...As always thanks David and safe travels.
In Basra world biggest oil Refinery Karbla petrol oil Refinery is in finishing touch and most powerfull people comes from powerfull Areas or land

That fish is also known as pomfret. Any fish fried with turmeric or curry mix takes it to another level up. Great spread👌👌

Hey David: Watched the video this morning but I didn't have time to comment earlier. So I enjoyed this one so much and had a lot of fun too. I love ALL of the food; healthy and simple. Saffron tends to be bitter if you use too much; did it taste bitter at all with that amount he used to coat the fish? 🤔. I would eat any of those dishes without a second thought. Jafar really seems to be enjoying himself now. As for Tasos; what can I say? Tasos, you are funny and you make me laugh. Tasos is watching his weight: where does he want to lose it? He looks good. He said he is going to the beach sometime soon. Hey Tasos, you can wear a onesie 🤣🤣🤣. At least you all got to shed a few pounds playing football. Ali has good skills and David, you haven't lost your touch. What a beautiful 🏟️. The outside is absolutely beautiful. Love the design. Iraq really surprised me. the issue to be mentioned; The people of Basra can be considered masters in cooking fish. They cook every type of fish the way it suits it. Therefore, there are fish that are cooked with grill on wood, other fish that are cooked in ovens, other fish that make broth or gravy, other fish that are cooked with rice using the press method, and other fish that are cooked by frying with oil. Each cooking method has a specific type of fish. What happens in restaurants is that they often cook all kinds of fish by frying in oil, and this means that the chef is not from the people of Basra, so he is not good at dealing with fish.

Possibly eat the fish is hands that's the good way, fish had bones to clean the fish is typicle so don't eat with fork & knife don't waste the fish, the fish name in India (white pomfret)little bit costly like solomon, surmai fishes,
