🇮🇶 More Iraq Videos: • American in Iraq! 🇮🇶 I...
To create this Iraq series, I teamed up with my guides at Bil Weekend ( / bilweekend | bilweekend.com/) and my good friend and fellow travel filmmaker Tasos Karantakos ( / agreeksolo .
GREAT MOSQUE OF SAMARRA: (Cake Minaret) We began our day at Malwiya Mosque, also known
as the Great Mosque of Samarra. It’s located in Samarra, roughly 90-120 minutes north
from Baghdad. It was the largest mosque in the world when it was built back in the 9 th
century and is known for Malwiya Tower, its unique spiral-shaped minaret! It’s 171 feet
tall. We climbed to the top and enjoyed the views but also had to be careful - there are
no outer railings and you can easily fall!
LUNCH IN BAIJI: After arriving in Baiji, we grabbed lunch at a local restaurant. We
enjoyed a chicken dish with nuts and raising, along with tepsi baytinijan (eggplant
salad), hummus, figs, chicken and beef shawarma, fasiola yabsa (white beans), bamia
(okra stew), jajik (cucumbers in yogurt), and sheikh mahshi (stuffed eggplant). It was a
phenomenal and filling lunch!

David: I loved this video. So far, Iraq has proved to be such a beautiful country. I had pins and needles watching you and the team climbing up the minaret. That's pretty dangerous with no railings to hold on to. Tasos looked so comfortable though. As per the food: Iraq's food is probably the healthiest I have seen. Everything is fresh. The kitchen is so clean and well organized. Even the restaurant itself is beautiful. After tasting so much food, I wondered if you would still be able to eat what they served you but you seemed to get through fine. Don't they have women working in these restaurants? Just wondering. Anyway, all of the guys were so hospitable and friendly. So waiting to see what's next. 🇹🇹🇨🇦

David, I love watching your videos, and the Iraqi food looks delicious! One request: Please stop eating out of/ over the restaurant's serving trays! You are double dipping and dropping food from your mouth into the food to be served to the public. It's very unhygienic and you are contaminating the food!
