I got the notification for this video, as I was starting to sort/rinse/soak beans. I listened to it while I worked, but watched a second time because I had not given it the attention it deserved. I didn't want to miss anything. Watching Matt in the kitchen reminded me how far he's come in the last year. The once-shy deer hunter is now giving cooking lessons! That is so cool. It really is a family affair now, Tipper! Congratulations to Matt on his deer harvest. Filling a deer tag with a bow is not something every hunter can do. Hopefully it was cold enough to let the deer hang overnight, so Matt didn't have to process it immediately. Meat in the freezer--it's the same rewarding feeling that comes from harvesting vegetables!

I'm going to have to prepare some of those croutons! Congratulations on the deer harvest Matt! Brings back great memories of years gone by when we harvested a deer and the family joined us at the house to dress the deer and we'd eat and fellowship afterwards...great times ...thanks tipper.. appreciate y'all...God bless....🙏❤

The soup and mainly those croutons lol looked delicious! From now on I won’t buy them from the store. You could even freeze them I imagine. Now I would like to see some deer meat smothered in gravy. Maybe in the crockpot or on top of the stove. Maybe cook it all day for maximum tenderness. Oh and I would also love to see Matt show us his deer roast soup recipe. Tipper sure doesn’t have Matt hog tied! He knows a good thing when he has it! And Tipper knows it too! Thanks Matt and Tipper for showing us how to make croutons!

I make croutons too in a similar fashion. I cube my bread slices first and toss them in the olive oil mixture then bake. Stir part way through the baking process. I also sprinkle parmesan cheese on mine before baking. Love the croutons!! Matt did a great job and now I want a salad with croutons!!

When Matt painted the bread it made me think of my kindergarten class using food coloring in a little bit of milk to paint their white bread before toasting it. We did some form of cooking each Friday. It was a wonderful (and delicious)way to incorporate math, social studies, science and language arts.
What a brilliant way to make croutons! Thank you Matt and Tipper. They look delicious.

You'ns cook so much like we do. I'm gonna have to make us some croutons for our soup. Today I had a piece of sirloin that had been too long in the freezer to be good on the grill ,so I made it into steak soup. It turned off cold this afternoon and when Gail came in from shopping, the hot soup made her day. I knew I'd got a good scald on that hog when she started going "Hmmmmmm". Matt and I cook alike: Kentucky windage. My wife is a great cook but must have a recipe. She lacks the confidence of guesstimates. If we were neighbors we'd enjoy the fellowship of an occasional carry in meal. Hot soup makes winter go so much better. Love Y'all.
I don't think Matt will complain about staying in the kitchen for a while. The timing was perfect to go out into the woods🪵 to get his favorite 🦌meat. I am confident this is going to be the best hunting season for Matt. Tipper, you might need to buy another freezer 🤗 Have a blessed day 🙏💕
I will be making deer meat soup for my husbands deer camp this weekend. My recipe is a little different as I am soaking some beans for it now and the veggies are all I have canned from my garden this year! ☺️. The croutons look yummy-I may have to make those as well!
You are awesome. To have the obvious adoration of a Man like Matt. Wow. Usually he has his head down under his hat brim. But today he was looking straight into the camera. WOW! What eyes. Reminds me of my gorgeous husbands that he usually keeps down to. Gotta go see about the deer. Adore your family Tipper.
Hi Tipper! I knew that you could make croutons out of bread, but I haven’t ever seen anyone do it before today, so I’m looking forward to trying it sometime! That deer stew looked awesome. I love the idea of adding rice.:)) And Congratulations on your “2022 🦌 Deer,” Matt! I think that’s the biggest smile we’ve seen on your face yet, or ever, at the end of this video. Haha! The soup and croutons look delicious. Nice way to celebrate Matt getting a deer even if it was planned before he went hunting. My friend’s 11-year-old son got his first deer this past weekend. 10 points - beginner’s luck! 🦌

Congratulations on the deer. My husband and son both hunt and we process all the meat ourselves. My son got an 8 pt the first weekend and unfortunately didn’t get to hunt over The thanksgiving holiday due to having the flu and being really sick. My husband said he had never seen anything keep our son out of his stand before. Hopefully my husband and son will be able to fill their tags and freezer before season is over. Thanks for sharing the recipe for croutons, I can’t wait to try it

Whoever did the camera work for Matt's cooking did a nice job. I've been wanting to make some croutons. I've been missing the ones my mom made; store-bought aren't anywhere near as good. Mom made hers from stale bread, cut the bread before cooking, and cooked them in a skillet. Mine aren't as good as hers and watching Matt makes me think I don't use enough oil. One day I'll get it right! Congratulations on getting your winter meat laid in.

I love croutons! Thank you for this recipe! I will definitely be using it. I had to smile when you said you use sandwich bread for garlic bread. I do that, too. I actually prefer it over the garlic bread that you buy at the store. At home I can add as much or as little of the toppings as I want. I love the smell and taste of garlic. I know some people who use the whole cloves of garlic instead of taking an antibiotic prescription. I don’t know if I could do straight garlic like that, but I do like garlic on so many different dishes. Thank you for another very useful and yummy looking recipe!! Donna. : )

Donna, I do that with a clove of garlic. If you ferment the cloves in local raw honey, after about 2 weeks or so, you can pull a clove out and eat it easy. (I couldn't do that with just raw garlic) And the healing properties of garlic are amazing. The taste is good and it's equal to a dose of penicillin when it's fermented like that. And after fermenting you got garlic honey as well. So good in many dishes....like garlic bread or the crust of pizza. So simple to do, even I can do it. 😃 And having had Rheumatic Fever when I was younger, the doctors said keep penicillin around at all times. I don't think it's that bad, but the honey fermented garlic is so good....two birds, one stone.
I love croutons! Congratulations on the deer! My father used to go deer hunting before I was old enough to go hunting with him. He suffered a severe stroke before we were able to go on our first hunt. However, I remember when he used to bring home a deer, we used to hang it on one of our trees. It used to traumatize my sister's friends in the neighborhood. It was awesome!! To all those in states that can get a firearms license, a hunting license, and want to go out hunting, I highly recommend it. In my state, ones with clean records and who wish to legally own firearms have a long battle and red tape to get one. Over here, only unlicensed criminals have firearms left and right. I think a bow is the best bet. It's great to see a bow hunter. More power to you, Matt!

Great watching you both together. Those croutons look like they would be great in a salad as well. 👍🏻 p.S. I live up here in the Northeast in the very wealthy Fairfield County Connecticut and we still have men that love to go hunting. Matter fact we have a Bass Pro shop about 10 minutes from my house. I once had alligator nuggets there. 🐊.p.s.s. My nieces and nephews all did volunteering in the summertime for a group called “friends of Appalachia”. They would go to Kentucky by bus and they would help repair homes for the needy.
Matt has inspired me to try my hand at making these. I’m Not that much of a cook (not really a cook at all lol) other than cooking food on the grill but I’m gonna try this. I never thought of making my own croutons, but it looks simple enough, and I can control the texture. The croutons that come in a Caesar salad kit I often prepare are too dry for my taste, especially since there's never enough dressing to cover all the lettuce.

Loved seeing the end with the family talking and laughing. Wish it hadn’t speeded up because that was my favorite part. I have an extra loaf of white bread leftover from Thanksgiving that I didn’t use for stuffing. Now i know how I’ll use it, thank you.
Matt, you stole my sketti bread recipe! Lol. I use light bread for hot dog buns more often than not, to the point that when I was California the cashier saw I had 3 pks of hot dogs and no buns, but I had 2 loaves of light bread, she said " did you forget buns"‽ I said no ma'am, most of the time I just use a piece of bread. She looked at me like I was from planet Neptune or something. It was funny. Nice deer!
