Celebrating Appalachia

Celebrating Appalachia

Welcome! Glad you stopped by and hope you stop by often as I celebrate my Appalachian Heritage.

My name is Tipper Pressley. I was born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I’ve always had a great love and appreciation for my rich Appalachian culture and heritage. In March of 2008 I started the Blind Pig & the Acorn blog in an effort to preserve and celebrate Appalachia.

This channel will continue my endeavor of celebrating the rich culture and heritage of the Appalachian Mountains.

well in my own humble opinion, i think the rude comments or someone telling you how "they" may properly pronounce a word, really just shows thousands of your subscribers that they are unlearned and don't possess wise knowledge hahaha. I haven't seen the one with spider web movement, dont know how I missed it, but been watching ya'll long enough to know neither of ya'll would have even thought about killin' that spider. LOL I bet that one will get even more views now. Tipper I wonder if some of the videos get more traffic at different times of the seasons, like the gardening ones now get lots of views and the cooking ones and maybe the interviews or book reading more views in the fall and winter when not so much is going on.

I can understand how peoples faith in God (long ago) was strong, when you were counting on His blessings to make things grow and not starve to death. (I don't mean that faith is not strong now with people who plant things to eat). I think all of us non-farmers and city dwellers would do well to appreciate farmers and Gods mercy. You have a wonderful garden!!!

I know you miss your father so much. It’s very loving for you to keep planting Granny’s garden. I’m hoping she gets to sit and look at her garden frequently and watch her things growing and I know she’ll enjoy making green beans. Thanks to you, we’re working on our second year of gardening. I used to only grow flowers but now we’ve got several varieties of tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, butter beans, peppers, and herbs. Plus, of course, flowers. I love a beautiful summer porch that’s filled with color. I’ll continue to pray for all.

My grandmother made the greatest fried corn in history! When I was about 12, I started spending the summer with my grandparents. To teach me hard work. After a long day in the tobacco fields, nothing was better than a big dinner with fried corn. One of my greatest childhood memories!
