I'm a filipino but I don't blame them for having negative feedback about the Philippines. Their experience was terrible, just because the first lady having a tantrum for beatles not attending her small party for them. It was not even in their schedule in the first place and they were tired and they have a concert the day after the invitation, they need rest.

No, most of them did not consider that. The Marcoses made us all an embarrassment. Coming from a group so respected and idolised by millions even back then, this would have tainted the filipinos massively, globally. Instead of using that as an opportunity to show the world how beautiful we really are, Imelda especially trashed us, and Ferdinand just gave all his blessings.

What an incredible life Paul McCartney and the others had/ have, mainly Paul, he has done so much and entertained the world, and is still doing it, friggin amazing.

On the bright side, when they stopped touring around the world, probabaly after their horrible experience in Manila, their music evolved and they've gotten more time to experiment and create the memorable, golden era of Beatles songs. Albums like Abbey Road, White Album, Sgt. Pepper's, and Magical Mystery Tour elevated their musicality and even influenced rock music forever. So there's that.

That’s true. Because of their horrible experience in the Philippines, they gave up touring and concentrated on writing great songs, so we have to thank Filipinos that.

In my opinion as a Filipino, what happen during their tour here is the Beatles just become a victim of a turmoil that was about to start way back then and im referring to the martial law.. Im not taking sides here bcos im a beatle fan, but they should have not treated the beatles like that just bcos they did not attend imelda's invitation.. The fact that they are visitors/tourist they should have been treated the well-known "hospitality" treatment that we Filipinos are known for. And they should have showed it all throughout the Beatles stay.. Those people who treated them rudely should weigh things(should not take sides) basically bcos we dont know what's the real story.. they should have act "professionally" and not like in a barbaric way.. I feel so terrible on what they did with the Beatles.. If some of the filipinos think that the "darkest" days of the filipinos is the martial law for me its how they treated the beatles😢😢 I really feel so ashamed on what they did 😢😢😢

They would love the Philippines if they were all still alive, and went there today. Filipino people are among the kindest people on earth. Their food is wildly underrated, and their country is so beautiful. Whether it is Palawan or Cebu. Manila or Luzon, you can expect great kindness, awesome food and incredible beauty in the Philippines. The Beatles would have loved to have seen it today!

It was NOT Epstein's fault. He knew the Beatles NEVER want to go to things like that, because they always got used by politicians. So Epstein said NO. But the Marcoses lied and said the Beatles were coming.

Might have been so terrible in the Airport. The Beatles rode Convair 880 from HongKong however as shown in Esquire magazine photo. The Jet-plane was the fast after all. I didn’t remember the feel and image of the Jet-plane but the fondness the stewardesses had on me as 6 yrs old boy back then 😊

And, I'm no lover or defender of the Marcoses, Imelda apparently went quickly to the airport to do some damage control and she ended up reprimanding the airport manager! It really was Brian Epstein's fault for not RSVPing to the Palace invitation, even ignoring the advice of the British embassy.

In fact, unfortunnately, when the Beatles, according to themselves, overslept and didn't arrive at Immelda's private party, which was seen by many a supporter of the Marcos family as a disrespectful act by the Beatles. The outrage and the "sad" Immelda being on National TV, inspired some to actually hit and spit at the Beatles. They were huddled through the airport like cattle, in order to show them that apparently they were not supposed to receive the Immelda soft treatment, had they been to the party. However, the truth is hard for met to say but it could have been solved non-violently. The best thing is the Beatles are still remembered and Immelda she remains part of the Philipine History.
