I disagree Aya... even Rachel said she had her doubts on Nicks season of the Bachelor... I think that if Peter was in the driver's seat he would have a totally different perspective than the position he was in as one of the male suitors, I think he would make an amazing bachelor exactly because of this whole situation and he and he and Rachel would bury the hatchet and he could find the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, he only wants to propose once and he could do that in the contest of this process and this show and find his wife who he will spend the rest of his life with, and it just wasn't meant to be with Rachel, and I just think the drama of it all would be captivating for an amazing season of the Bachelor, its real, you know, drama, heart ache, evolution of ones experience in the journey to find love, its not easy and Peter would be a great story to watch and follow.

Aya Jo I think peter was very much open to the process in the beginning because he knows it can happen (his dad proposed to his mom after like a month). But he just wasn't there. Why propose if you're not feeling it?? ...Idk lol

You're really good at this commentary. I've never watched the Bachelor or the Bachelorette but I'm enjoying watching clips from the show.

2 years later watching this: Her ONLY problem with Brian was that she thought he was too good to be true.

The whole portion of her talking about Rachel and Peter is one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen and completely sums up how 99% of the audience felt last night, 😂😂😂

I was one of the 1%. Clear all through the passion and connection with a Bryan. Now they’re soon to be married. So....time has proven her choice right.

Best advice I ever received was to marry a man that loves you more than you love him. Rachel made a good decision. Women need to feel secure, that's fact.

She didn't say to pick someone that you don't love. She said he has to love you as much or more. I get it. For years I was in a relationship where I was constantly convincing him to stay and give us a shot rather than breaking up. It was exhausting being so much more invested in it than he was. I remember the day it changed. I was looking at a friend's wedding pictures online. The groom was watching the bride walk down the aisle, and the way he looked at her.... you could tell he felt so lucky to have her and was sooo in love. I realized the guy I was with would never look at me like that. So, there is something to be said for feeling secure in a relationship. Ideally you find someone who likes you AS MUCH as you like them.

Talking about my own experience. if you don´t love the man the way he love´s you. it won't work. because her heart is somewhere else so she will never be a whole with Bryan, she´s not seing it now but trust me she will someday.. I remember my ex loved me very much and i was just with him, i cared about him of cours but my heart was never there. wee all saw that Rachel´s heart was with peter. her and peter would be a perfect mach and actually they would have married. but her and bryan i don´t see that happening. and she will never be a whole with Bryan. but i wish her all the best.

Yes she made the right choice. For a 31yr old man to say that to him an engagement is the same as a marriage is unbelievable. He wanted a girlfriend, wants a baby but without a committment. Peter will be another Jaun Pablo

What she means is that Peter loved her. But Bryan loved her more. Peter had doubts. Bryan had no doubts. Even though it was obvious that she wanted Peter, Bryan was the better option. She knew that eventually Peter would probably leave her heartbroken.

FYI: Lauren Zima She did brought up her 5 years relationship several time during the show. For example, when Peter received the first date. Peter and Rachel discuss theirs past relationships and how they both went to therapy for it. In addition, in Geneva Bryan asked Rachel about her past relationship and "if that was the only time she had her heart broken?!". People were mostly focus on how Peter feel and his looks rather than listen to Rachel and understanding why she was insisting on the proposal ( for crying out loud she is a 32 years old woman that want a family). Last time, I checked this was Rachel's season of The Bachelorette not Peter's season of The Bachelor.

the break up btw Peter and rachel was so romantic than the proposal she got from Bryan.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT. She had stronger feeling for Peter but Bryan CLEARLY loved her more so she picked the person who loved her more. I love Peter and his salt and pepper hair all day everyday but homeboy did not love her as much as Bryan. That is clear to see.

Were we watching the same show? What makes you think she had stronger feelings for Bryan? She gave Bryan the first impression rose....she gave Bryan the first repeat 1-on-1 date....she gave Bryan a $20,000 Breitling watch....she wore her matching Breitling watch on a date during which she would be seeing Peter (if only for a few minutes)....she exclusively introduced Bryan to her hometown friends...she exclusively called Bryan "Baby!" when she leaped into his arms on his hometown date...she revealed to Bryan her greatest fears and insecurities regarding believing that she is truly loved...in South Carolina, she exclusively plundered Bryan's mouth in a french kiss that was so passionate that his cheek was stuffed full of her searching tongue.... Yes, she cried when she broke up with Peter, but we have no idea what would have happened if she had broken up with Bryan because she didn't. So, I ask you (and I genuinely want to know) what did you see that convinced you that her feelings for Peter were stronger than her feelings for Bryan?

Tamara Fuller did you see there good bye scene? a room full of studio saw it. she said she did not want to say good bye. they both said i love you, peter said take a chance. rachel feelings was so much stronger for Peter than Bryan. if Peter was ready to propose, he would have been the last man standing. Rachel may want to deny that but the footage is there. imagine if bryan mother was watching that scene? would you think her son was rachel first choice? I don't think so. if Bryan was truly the one, she would not have cried over Peter like that. She didn't cry this badly for the other men she let go. in the end, Bryan was left and she knew he would propose. She was more excited about the ring than the proposal.

lisa delpeche that may be true but hey maybe it is really possible to be in love with 2 people at the same time. Meaning I think the break up between Peter and Rachel was very deep and strong but I dont think the love they had for each other made Bryan and Rachel's love for each other less real or legitimate. Perhaps Rachel loved both Peter and Bryan and decided to go with Bryan the one who truly showed his love for her More. But even with her making that decision that didn't make saying goodbye to Peter any less difficult than it was because those feelings for Peter were real regardless. Perhaps if Peter Was ready to propose Rachel would've chose him but that wasn't the case , so maybe they weren't meant to be... And perhaps Bryan ultimately was the One because he wasn't confused or Unsure unlike Peter.

i was so surprised about that relatonship - we'd never heard about it before the finale!

As much as I adore Rachel she was dead wrong with the rude comments she threw peters way during their sit down, sooo disappointed in her. The man was legit trying to apologize and she totally dismissed his attempt and snapped on him, felt so bad for Peter, he was clearly embarrassed.

It wouldn't of matter to her whether he was the bachelor or not. I for one want to see what he can do if he is the lead and in control of the situation . He may surprise us.....i saw some moments in this breakup that was sexy as hell. You really saw a lot of emotions from him. He will be interesting to watch.

I disagree I think the interview shows how much he did love her, I think the unrealistic notion of the bachelor franchise was highlighted in this situation, he came into the show maybe thinking it could make him ready for marriage only to realistically find out it probably can't (how many people are still together from the franchise compared to the number of seasons) he clearly said by the end I want you but I can't give you the ring you want YET, not, not at all YET, because realistically me proposing after 2-3months is flaming nuts, and I thought I could be ready but I am not. For me her reaction during the interview with Peter the fact she had to move away and the way she was speaking to him almost as if she was angry highlights her feelings clearly, she is a well educated, composed girl and in this situation clearly her emotions had taken over, in my opinion they never really got closure and she isn't over him just yet. Finally he doesn't have to propose he can come into this saying I don't know if I am ready but I am willing to try this experience to see if I can be, if he isn't by the end he can pull a Juan Pablo but for the right reasons.

Would you have wanted to be there for that? I am happy for Rachel and Bryan, but be honest this season was all about Rachel and Peter. She loved Bryan but was in love with Peter. As for the bachelor no amount of sabotage can stop that if it is meant to be.

Just to let all the people who thought Peter just wanted to be the Bachelor, he said in an article that if he was asked to do the Bachelor he would consider it but the answer right now is NO. Go read it. He also mentioned how Rachel said he had deep rooted issues and it was the first time he had heard that. It hurt him and he wanted to walk off stage but he just stayed silent because he didn't know what to do in that moment. He was and still is "in to her" despite what some of you all thought. He's a good guy any girl would be lucky to have.

Was she really wrong in her assessment of Peter? I think her and Peter would've made a good couple but how long do you wait for someone that isn't on the same page as you. I think the biggest problem is that Rachel loved Peter more than he did her and Bryan loves Rachel more than she does him. However, that's most relationships. I don't know what fantasy land everyone is living in that they think they're their significant other's first and only choice.

unlistedmuse17 Rachel clearly loved Bryan over and above them all. Peter triggered the trauma of her previous relationship, and she projected onto him the hurt and confusion felt in the old 5 year relationship.

Is it just me or does Bryan seem a bit sad afterwards. I don't know if it's because he's gotten negative online feedback or Rachel isn't as into him as he is to her, but he seems as quietly pained as he did on that date when he called her out for being distant.

i feel like it has to be affecting him that so much of the finale was about Peter! it's tough because they've got to wind the story down, but it was such a dramatic breakup that it took the focus off rachel/bryan's happiness!

Hold on, Hold on....Before Rachel knocks Peter's hotel door she says she came looking for clarity (8.10) but in interviews since the finale she said she knew she was in love with Bryan and went to break it off with Peter because she didn't want to lead him on to appear at the final rose ceremony, which one is it Rachel? As a lawyer you should know about keeping your story consistent

Suddenly everyone says that she had the most feelings with peter and she wanted to pick him, yet before, the rejected guys, viewers, and even Pachel fans admitted she had the most connection with Bryan and she liked him the most and that it would probs be him. But NOOOOOWWWW she's the most into him

Peter does not need anyone’s pity. Peter knew what the show was about and he knew he was not going to propose. His personal training business should get a boost from his new social media followers. He may break back into modelling with his current 15 minutes of fame. Peter's end goal was the Bachelor. He told friends that he was nominated to the show in 2015 (Kaitlyn’s season), admitted that he applied himself in 2016 (Jojo’s season), but ABC finally called him in 2017 (Rachel’s season). ABC now has a built in fan base and story line for him. He’s got thousands of women across America drooling over him and waiting for the casting call. He is fulfilling his high school dream, “become famous in one way or another, be on the Bachelor”. Quite calculated and well played! Peter got what he really wanted!

How many times was Nick Viall on the Bachelor/Bachelorette? 🤔It's irrelevant. He was in HIGH SCHOOL when he said he wanted to be on the show. So what?! NOT RELEVANT, unless you want to be a hypocrite, because Bryan was on a dating show too. So it didn't work out for Rachel & Peter, can't she move on to her "...best life..." without the hate? What does she have to gain now? Sounds like justification for poor choices. And I am not going to argue or debate so, please don't go there, it's childish to me. i agree 100%. I can see them making his fear of proposal the big drama for his season and watch him pop out a ring for that girl. that's why Rachel was so bitter, she knew she was played.

Last essay :0) Bryan was the one she really wanted. She knew it, but, she was scared. She kept Peter because she was familiar with his type. The complications with Peter were what she was used to... painful and frustrating but, comfortable and familiar. The love that Bryan offered was different and better for her. Episode 1 - Bryan got the first kiss and the first impression rose Episode 4 - “You are so charming is scares me… It’s too good to be true!” Episode 5 Oslo Norway - First one on one date “I like Bryan. I like Bryan a lot... A LOT” with a big giddy school girl grin Episode 6 - She asks Bryan “Will your family accept me” with such anxiety. (The mutual chemistry in that scene was illegal.) Episode 7 Geneva - Rachel and Bryan get matching watches, which she says that they may be able to look back on in 30 years. In her ITM Bryan "makes me feel like I am his princess... makes me my best self and brings out the best in me.” Episode 8 Hometown Miami - “Hi Baby!” and a giddy school girl coo and laugh. She melts into his arms when Bryan tells her he’s falling in love with her. Episode 9 Hometown Dallas - She defends him to her family. She knew she wanted to be with Bryan, but, Peter was familiar.

I know this is old but did anyone else notice how Racheal said she knew it was Brian in Geneva and that was also the same time in Geneva when Peter told her about leaving if he wasn't fully there and couldn't propose. Not to mention when Peter asked what her favorite place was so far she said "This" Just a theory I realized watching back.

"I'm living my best life" sounded the most bitter thing to say to a man who got away.😏 But BIG thanks to you Lauren for always giving me a big laugh every time and that "it's sexy" was hilarious and sexy! Haha Cheers to living the best life!😛

Lauren! Love your review as usual! I also saw your interview with Rachel and Bryan and noticed you asked the hard hitting questions! I agree with you completely. If Rachel didn’t want to choose Peter she wouldn’t have been complaining and thinking about him the entire time during Bryan’s date if she didn’t want to choose him. At the end of the day, based on what happened it seemed very clear that Rachel really wanted to pick Peter as her F1, but couldn’t because she really wanted the ring. In reality, it looks like she settled for Bryan/chose Bryan by default, because he wanted to propose to her and get married to her, and although that’s what she wanted? Was it the better choice? Not really at all. If Peter wasn’t her ideal choice she would’ve sent home Peter at the final 3, not Eric. Because she wasn’t in love with Eric. Also, Rachel never actually told Bryan she was in love with him on screen until the proposal. She told Peter she was falling in love and that she loved him, but didn’t say it to Bryan in person. I understand that Rachel wanted to get engaged and wanted someone who would marry her “now, “ and get why she chose Bryan as a result, but in reality it seemed like the ring was all she wanted, and not a long lasting love. And the breakup was absolutely devastating. It was clear that at the live finale, Peter loved her and Peter is still in love, and wanted to cultivate a future with her. I didn’t think it was necessary for Rachel to basically talk so rudely to Peter on stage. Although she claimed she didn’t attack him, why does she need to say “I’m living my best life.” It seemed like she was rubbing it in his face. And I personally don’t think Peter is the best choice for Bachelor, even though I love Peter and in my previous comments I’ve mentioned to you that I’ve always been team Peter, but I still don’t think this process, world, journey, is for him since 9 weeks is clearly not enough time for him, but the fact Rachel said that on stage to him makes it seem like she wants to ensure that he’s not the Bachelor. Personally, I feel like she’s just being possessive over the guys. And as much as I love Rachel, I questioned her a lot in this episode. And like you said, she told Peter that she loved him in the last episode. I also have to say that considering Bryan won, I feel bad, because it clearly seems that he was the second choice and ABC did a bad job editing his and Rachel’s love story.

I personally think the whole new live finale format also made it even weirder, it’s just hard for me to think that Bryan was the 100% clear choice if she was so upset and was dwelling a lot on being proposed to/potential engagement or lack there of. And why would she give him a look at the rose ceremony that he needs to propose if she didn’t want him to. It’s all confusing. I love your analysis as usual

The show is about Rachel and Peter - enough say. Though I have no preference between Bryan and Peter, throughout the season, Peter showed the most compatible characteristic for Rachel compared to the other men. He cares and loves her, but at the same time keep her grounded, able to challenge her, while other men were impulsive and acting based on emotion, only because they want to be with her.

Your reviews give me everlasting life... so animated yet so shady at the same time. You were definitely my favorite reviewer and I say this while sipping rose!! Stay fabulous friend!!!

And everyone says that Bryan and Rachel won't work, but Rachel and Peter would never work. They've fought on this show already, they're morals are different. They would have never worked. Her and Bryan haven't fought once. They are more compatible and will fit

Maybe, but if he *is* the Bachelor he won't be able to propose at the end without seeming like a wishy washy person who suddenly changed his core values. He can still be the Bachelor, and find love, but I think the proposal would be effectively off the table.

so she picked the guy who want to commit to her, the guy who want and will give her what she wants , and people are mad!! I dont get this, it is always better to be with someone who has the same plan as you, or at least someone that can meet you half way and to he that man was Brain. so congrats to them and I hope they have a wonderful life together

The part that upset me is not the fact that she ended up choosing Bryan (I feel like it was obvious he was going to win). I just didn't like how she treated Peter during the live event. He was obviously truly upset over it and she wasn't sensitive to that at all. I feel like it's because there are actually feelings there from her!!

Exactly everyone seems to think that it’s all about the bachelorette/bachelor, when in fact, it is just as much about the contestants as well. A relationship goes two ways, and Peters feelings are just as important.

It was a very frustrating last episode! I still don't know how I feel about the ending!

The recaps went from like 5 minutes to 15+ really fast and I'm so happy they did bc I'm just watching these old ones during quarantine and they make me HAPPY!!!

tbh she settled for bryan bc she couldnt get peter, if peter wouldve wanted to propose she wouldve chosen him than bryan

Leshell Santiago it’s not settling when you choose the guy who chooses you. It would be settling to go for the guy who doesn’t want to be with you for the rest of your life.

Goossssh waiting for this!!!! And I can't help but I think Rachel settled for Bryan because that was her goal to leave the show as an engaged woman (and not with a boyfriend) and with Peter she definitely will not get that - just yet. So what if Peter told her he will propose? Will she still pick Bryan? Wondering, wondering.🤔 And why she's cold and rude and bitter to Peter on the live show? Because her heart clearly belongs to Peter but she knew Bryan has stronger feelings for her and will definitely propose and she won't have to beg and chase for that ring and proposal. Best of luck with them anyway!

I liked Peter for Rachel initially, but then he just seemed so confused and it was frustrating. I don't think it was about the ring and the proposal, I think Rachel wanted to see if he would take the risk for her .....He didn't want to take the risk of proposing and it didn't work out .....so she would be the only one taking the risk. I get why she broke up with Peter especially given her fear of being in a long term relationship that leads nowhere.

I totally understand why Rachel seemed harsh with Peter. By the finale she would have watched the interviews, and researched the various contestants and realised that Peter really wanted to be the Bachelor. She allowed herself to develop feelings for a guy who was never there for her. His body language belied him. He never intended to propose! He told friends that he was nominated to the show in 2015 (Kaitlyn’s season), admitted that he applied himself in 2016 (Jojo’s season), but ABC finally called him in 2017 (Rachel’s season). Peter does not need any pity. Peter did not lose though. He's going to be the bachelor, fulfilling his highschool dream.

LAUREN!!!! AHHHHH! What happened?? When Chris Hansen said, let's bring out Peter! Wait NOOOO!!! My mouth dropped! Clearly that wasn't a real break up! There was a twist! Right! So I fast fwd to the end and GASP! El Bryan! Ay no! Ay no! Por que! POOOR QUEE!!! So I rewound back to Rachel and Peter on the couch and you could cut the fierce, emotional, sexually, hurt tension with a sword! Rachel is in love with Peter and that's the end of that story! Mrs. Adriann totally agree, that's why I think she said Peter should not be the next bachelor (she basically said that), partly from hurt because he could propose to another girl but not her and partly from jealousy she clearly still had feelings there and so seeing him getting to know these other girls could potentially be hard for her

If he tells Rachel, I can't propose tomorrow and then he becomes the next Bachelor and legitimately falls in love with a girl in 2 months (which is possible people) will be a slap in the face for Rachel. He didn't reject Rachel he just couldn't propose and she should have went with that. Oh well! Rachel wanted to be on TV being proposed to not the reality of what it means. Peter was being honest.

This wasn't supposed to be Peter's story, so I'm confused as to how he ended up the protagonist. This was Rachel's love story, and maybe because this is my first season I tuned in so I have a naivety about that, but how did that get so lost within the Peter fandemonium?

I can't understand peter taking the bachelor gig if offered when his whole issue with Rachel was not being able to propose in 9 weeks. It's the same freaking process!! If he takes it its clear he was definitely there to be the next bachelor and not Rachel.

He is not going to be the next bachelor because he does not want to accept the process as it is . He does not want to propose at the end of the season. He is portrayed in People Magazine as every bachelor producer's worse nightmare. I am sure that he would have pulled another Jaun Pablo. In 2005 in his school year book, his goal was to be in the BACHELOR. This is 12years ago, so he is knowledgeable of the process. To remark that to him an engagement is the same as marriage is frightening. Yes , he wants the privilege of marriage without committment.His mother was clear about this on his home visit .Rachel made the right choice by following her gut as her mother advice to do. That little warning voice that we ignore most times' As the Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote "you are what you repeatedly do" She did not want another stagnant relationship nor a boyfriend. A wise man also wrote " tell my mistakes to me not to others, because my mistakes are to be corrected by me not by others'. That she did by standing by her conviction, her goal and her purpose of finding a partner and together cultivate a relationship leading to marriage. We known that we live in a world of uncertainty, but With God's help and prayers offered on their behalf by those who love them, we all will watch their union next year. Rachel and Bryan I wish you God's blessings and guidance. Love each other and Tune out negativity and haters.

When Rachel said they weren't rushing into the wedding... girl, neither was Peter with proposing #justsaying

zomg i totally cried when Peter & Rachel broke up too, @Lauren! I LOVE this show & I love Bachelor Nation but I have NEVER cried watching ANY other episode/season but their parting was heart-wrenching. Also I was totally Team Peter until this ep!! I actually appreciate Brian so much more now and feel like Peter's a little too self-involved.
