    If Thor will gain his pressing strength back, every competition will be him and Mitch competing for the 1/2 place and everyone else competing for the third. In fact nothing new, it happened many times in strongman.

    Thanks again Auntie Liz awesome job on the footage and editing. Loz was great on the mic and putting the events in context. The ladies throw took a bit of time to build momentum but was actually one of my favourite events. The womens comp was so exciting again, some amazing outstanding individual efforts. Congrats to Mitch & Lucy.

    Novikov needs to stop competing 100%. Like completely, and just let his body heal up. He is still very young and can make great comeback. It's shame watching him perform these days. He is just destroying his body for mediocre (at best) performances. It's not worth it. Take a deserved rest, heal up and come back better than ever before.

    He is incredible, but I think it’s going to be a bit longer before his pressing is back to 100% and even then I don’t think he is unbeatable. I think there are always going to be enough events where Mitch is better than Thor to keep it close and competitive.

  • @DutchDread

    @DutchDread

    Ай бұрын

    @@lukebbuff Yeah, If Thors pressing comes back then statically I'd say he's pretty much unbeatable. But I think the meta has kinda changed, my reasoning is mostly because of the deadlift at rogues. Back in Thors heyday there were several strongmen who were deadlift specialists. That means that if your deadlift wasn't up to snuff you'd massively lose points there. Mateusz is the classic example, it didn't matter how amazing Mateusz was in everything if that one event screwed him over. But the same thing isn't as true now. Thor didn't just win the deadlift, he 0 effort destroyed it, he was several orders of magnitude stronger there than he needed to be to win, let alone place extremely high. But getting THAT strong at deadlift requires a specific body, a massive hulking one, which tends to lower your athleticism. Thor used to be very athletic, but became less so in order to become the best deadlifter. And that was fine because as I explained earlier, being very athletic wasn't a sure fire way to win competitions. Now though? Hooper doesn't need to deadlift 500 Kilos, he's much better off being a bit less bulky, and making sure that his body is quick and athletic enough to compensate for the reduction in strength. Hooper and Thor can both carry a frame, but Hooper can run more easily with it. He can take shorter breaks in between attempts at lifts, he can use his entire body to throw a press upwards while Thor just stands there and tries to brute force the weight.

  • @lukebbuff

    @lukebbuff

    Ай бұрын

    @@DutchDread True. I was going to say - the only way Thor’s strength in the b deadlift is enough for him to dominate (rather then just be in the running) is if guys like Trey, Bobby, Wide Pavlo, Bishop, Hicks etc. are also in the competition and outperforming Mitch and Tom on deadlift. Rare that enough high level deadlifters are in the field at once for it to be as big of an advantage. Also Mitch is just so good at everything. He keeps finishing second or third at events he’s supposed to be just mediocre at.

    Hafthor looked like he could have easily hit at least 20 feet if needed. The angle shown on stream made it look like he was in the ceiling on those throws but seeing it from ground level it looked like he had about 12-18 inches of additional clearance.
