3 Worst Fasting Mistakes (from this video) 1.) 0:50 Cutting your window of eating too drastically (gradually decrease the window time in which you eat) 2.) 3:49 Prolonged water fasting is dangerous. (Take chlorella and activated charcoal to absorb toxins during water fasting if you dare). Toxins such as heavy metals and organo-pesticides are released during prolonged water fasting. 3.) 6:48 Fruit fasting detox diet is dangerous. (Fructose causes gout, kidney stones, high blood pressure and diabetes),

I have been fasting for a very long time now. I have learned some things the hard way, especially the re feeding stage, it can go so very wrong if you do it wrong. Take your time in all stages and work your way up like an athlete would. Start small and work up to your goal. Most importantly LISTEN to your body and do lots of research. This is not something to just jump into unless you are talking about anything under 24 hours. Prep your body 1st and you will find it so much easier.

At the end where Dr talks about fruit fasting reminded me of the juice fasts I've been on but with mainly vegetables and herbs with only a little fruit to take the bitterness down so it's palatable. There is an Australian Dr Sandra Cabot who has written books on liver cleansing along with juices for many other health issues. I highly recommend trying her juice procedures which are for healing the organs of the body to create a healthy state so then the body can lose weight naturally.

Hey Doc, once diagnosed liver disease, I researched a lot, joined discussion groups, etc.. My grand plan, was to loose as much weight (fat) i could home gym/spin bike and 'hula chair' (it's a wild ride that shakes rattle'n rolls around, loosening internal cling-on sludge/debris, inside the body), while also eating 'bentonite clay' Once achieved, did a 35 day regimen 'organic coffee enema's. Having said, it was time to eat entirely 'organic' I've since healed the liver, with a whole lot of health awareness, backing it up. Thank you.

Reason - it might make them nervous if they started worrying about 'things'. I have been doing intermittent fasting for over a year now usually with an eating window of 3 to 4 hours a day…. not good I’m 78 and would like to increase my weight, however I struggle to open the window for 6 hours. I relish my vegetarian keto and have been told my food prep is amazing… I delight in the variety of food prep and have made it a wonderful hobby. According to medical specialists my blood cancer will not go away without further treatment but I have elected to have quality of life not quantity…. that been said I acknowledge there is a little anxiety about my apparent inability to increase body mass. It’s somewhat annoying to see people go on about weight loss especially for the excited few who are in the process of metabolic flexibility, and who have yet to settle in to a long term regime necessary for their respective health concerns. My latest strategy is (always))to break the fast with sauerkraut, then prepare and eat a smaller meal so I am more inclined to eat a delicious nutritious ‘sweet’ after about 5 hours…. I complete at about 5pm but at this stage it is somewhat difficult to sleep at night, however I will persevere

No, prolonged water fasting does not increase heavy metals and pesticides in your body from fat. In fact, some studies suggest the opposite: Reduced Heavy Metals:Studies have shown a decrease in urinary and hair levels of heavy metals like arsenic and nickel after prolonged water fasting. This suggests the body may eliminate some stored heavy metals during the process.

My opinion is the difference between 12 and 6 hours is splitting hairs. Universal opinion stop eating 3 hours before sleep. Get seven to nine hours of sleep a night.

So if I'm going to the bathroom regularly, don't feel like crap, lost 2.5 inches off my waist and didn't struggle fasting because I didn't even plan to do it just didn't care to eat much, was tired, didn't feel like being organised and work/ strict diet was a hurdle with me eating out/ don't use microwaves lol... Does this mean I'm metabolically flexible? I don't feel what I did was necessary good long term nor was it strategic, but i got my steak, eggs, minerals in the morning, maybe a couple dates and a bit of fruit during the day and then would get home and fall asleep without dinner. Or some days I just had raw milk, cacao, water and minerals and nothing else. Either way, I lost weight rapidly. And this was after living in a water damaged property and having mold toxicity, gut health destroyed and not being able to lose weight. it's definately fat not muscle I lost. It's left me extremely curious about fasting. I always felt like I was insulin resistant or diabetic too, but I can not eat for hours very easily?? I always thought that meant I have a slow metabolism. I have been eating a strict diet since 19 and basically follow your diet except I eat red meat every day. I feel like I detox fairly easily or maybe my body just responds better. even my first colonic I had good results, I sweat a lot in saunas etc. I think it's cause my diet and lifestyle is already so clean for a long period of time and don't have alcohol or coffee either. Oh also I cook with a shit load of wild organic coconut oil which is over 60% MCTs and I do 3 sessions of Redlight therapy a week and wake up at 5am. I have never seen such quick results over inconsistent and unintentional fasting , basically just doing what I felt. Literally 2.5 inches in not much time at all. I dont know if it was the imperfection that worked so well. Sometimes too I would eat at 6 and eat hours later but nothing in-between. my eating patterns were like a yoyo with fasting lol. No idea what happened but feel better and don't think I retoxed

Not necessarily many meals but spreading your one large meal in 6 hours, with high quality foods to keep you full a long time. You just cannot eat too much in one or two meals and being a man calories deficit really affect your health . Fasting some days do you good health, make you feel amazing. Sometimes give you side effects like feeling weak, dizziness even depression. Listen to your body. But I learned that even the day I give up Fasting, I still extend my eating time after 12 hours to control my blood sugar. Science consider a real fasting start at 14 hours. It's not about getting used to it, it's about your well-being. I can fast 24 hours or longer easily with no hunger issues, but I don't want to do it because I know the effects it cause to my body. So do some experiments in different ways and be flexible cto what your body telling you. Everyone is different and unique.

Surely is *massively* depends on what people are eating, too? That's the dichotomy of all this. Are we far better simply eating more healthily or doing fasting with worse foods? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Are we actually better extending the eating window by having a small bowl of fruit (with all the antioxidants they contain) vs fasting with consumption of largely terrible foods? I don't recall any doctors really getting to the absolute bottom of this debate. Sure, eating broccoli and salmon in a 6 hour window is the gateway to everlasting life.. But cmon no ordinary Western human being is going to be doing this. It's puritanical at that point. Another example: for my breakfast I break all keto codes (😱) by having 4 corn crackers but topped with cream cheese, olives, EVOO and black pepper. So can a doctor honestly tell me that due to the consumption of the crackers, I am going to be less healthy than someone that *isn't* consuming the olives and olive oil? 🤷🏻‍♂️ We need to really flesh out diet plans that are realistic for most people that aren't retired doctors or KZreadrs and actually have very busy, very hectic working lives, where stressing about food is basically one stress too many..

Hi Dr. Gundry. I have a couple questions and wasn't sure where to post them. (1) Have you researched the benefits of olive LEAF extract, and is it different from olive OIL, and do you sell an olive leaf extract supplement? (2) I listened to a Naturopathic doctor who espoused the benefits of olive leaf extract, but warned AGAINST using olive oil. He said even the air at the top of the bottle caused unhealthy oxidation of the oil. He advises against ALL oils in bottles. Can you give your point of view to his criticism of olive oil, even the best, like yours? (You can check out YT channel Operation Freedom, episode entitled, "The Power of Olive Leaf Extract", with Naturopathic doctor Peter Glidden) (3) Does aloe vera juice contain lectins? I have heard it touted for GI issues, but if it actually has lectins I would think it would be contra-indicated ? Could the aloe vera juice be helpful topically, without the concern of lectins in the GI tract? Or do lectins absorbed into the skin or blood stream still cause problems? (4) I have major leaky gut, bloating, constipation, SIBO and GI issues, and started your Bio Complete 3 supplement, but my bloating didn't go away, and perhaps got worse. Is it possible it could be causing the REVERSE effect, or that I need to substantially reduce the dose and titrate up more slowly? Or do you think the supplement is not the culprit and I need to look to see if there are too many FODMAPS in my diet or some other cause? Thank you so much for your teaching videos, and even teaching advertisements. They are so educational and entertaining to watch and I learn something new every time. You are a fantastic teacher, and to the best of my ability to discern, provide invaluable and trustworthy information and products. Thanks again.

I have to develop my own strategy and something what is sustainable….. Wish you well.

@@HafizNaumanAkbar The book is a good start to understand complexity of insulin resistance and helps to take an action. For most people with excess weight and on SAD ( standard American diet) is all you need to know. The most important tip for me is “ Carbs Come Last” ( page 144) this simple trick to lessen the insulin impact….. I focus on metabolic flexibility, switching often from ketones to glucose for fuel, changing the “ eating window” constantly: from 2 to 8 hours and most days 4-6 hours of IF. I limit some foods or at least not eating daily. Eating starches last, after the protein and vegetables is very helpful….I do not feel deprived and eat smaller portions. I am increasing “ good” fats and decreasing protein slowly to mimic very low calorie diets without stressing my body ( MMT mitochondrial metabolic therapy is superior to ketogenic diet) I can not effort to loose weight and muscles….I recently purchased a high quality rebounder and starting HIIT exercises. Many valuable informations are in book by Dr. Joseph Mercola “ Fat For Fuel”. I start to believe that life can be beautiful again…. Wishing you the best.

After a 3 day fast hurt my stomach I developed severe chronic urticaria. Drs had no clue so I started studying. Came up with leaky gut syndrome. I had to eat carbs basically basmati rice & inulin & milk & wonder white bread & my sausage fingers went away. I lived basically for years not eating for 18 even 20 hours. I ate rather low carbs most days. My diabetes went out of control. So 18 hours does nothing. Before any fasting at all I lived 14 years mostly on greens & meat & fat. Never had any of the problems. I heard about fasting in the first place because of prostate cancer fears gjven to me by drs.

I totally disagree. Easing into is the wrong approach. The best way is to go for prolonged water fast for a few days to break your body from insulin dependence. As long as you keep your electrolytes up most can power through it. You may get cranky but whatever, power through it. When you are able to have insulin flexibility you can fast for weeks without any ill effects.
