Hi Dr Gundry, I am a big fan of yours. I was diagmosed with macular degeneration in my right eye, I got up 1 morning & my blinds looked wavy etc. I listened with great hope about eating anchovies for the vitamin E. I am lucky to have an Italian deli close buy, that flies in twice a week from Italy , hand caught anchovies in a Very good olive oil. I grabbed them & have done twice a week for the last few months. It is like a miracle to me. No more wavy lines or ghost faces, I cannot start to explain my THANKS to you, for this MIRACULOUS change to my eyesight. Peace & thanks to you. You are a wery special person. 1 of a kind. 🙏👍

The closest I can find is flaxseed capsules & oil, but with flaxseed capsules or oil, I get very bad side-effects such as diarrhea, bloating, gas, stomach-aches, and nausea. I take ginger tablets for the nausea, which helps.

@helenjackson9232, This is the start of a New Year & a New You! ie NO EXCUSES!!! Start moving more, walk every day, like at lunch break or before /after work. Good health starts with good food. Good quality, organic, grass fed & free-range. Add more fresh fruits and vegies to meat or fish dishes. Eating right is much cheaper than medical costs like prescription meds, tests, treatments and doctor/hospital visits! Not to mention time off work, which means no money coming in or only 60% on disability insurance... Which means you feel awful & can no longer enjoy your LIFE! I hope you start feeling better soon! I would start by prioritizing & SAVING MONEY by eliminating refined carbs, processed foods & SUGAR in all its forms! Drink more water & eliminate Diet Soda Drinks. Artificial sweeteners damage us neurologically, as in Brain Damage... 🧠 😢 You will feel much better in only a few days if you eliminate the carbs & increase red meat, fish & chicken or turkey! I eat only 2 meals per day: Breakfast & Dinner. Intermittent Fasting all night, until late Breakfast, then Fasting again until Dinner. It's amazing really, how much better I feel now than I have in the last 3 decades of my life! Try it for yourself & feel FANTASTIC!!! 🎉

Avoiding Magnesium oxide is a good idea and also Magnesium and Potassium are antagonists. Too much of one will effect the other. As someone who has been hospitalised with severe palpitation and arrhythmia issues, keeping my electrolytes in balance has had the greatest effect on avoiding the worst of my condition.. Sodium and calcium also need to be kept in balance. Really surprised no cardiologist ever discussed this with me and unfortunately Dr Grundy has repeated the tradition.

Magnesium sulfate can have a flushing effect … What I’ve found is Magnesium Glycinate doesn’t cause this. Plus, it’s better absorb in body. I take 200mg every night just before bed. On a different topic…B3 which is Niacin can def cause “flushing” of the skin on face , neck etc… It’s usually recommended to take this 2-3 times a day …in small doses. But, definitely always check/talk with your primary care first before starting on a supplement regimen. Best of luck to you :)

FYI: Beware Nutravein Lipsomal C - I'd bought a bottle of their liposomal Vit C before I realized it could be corn derived. I must avoid corn & corn derivatives due to a serious allergic reaction (even to hospital grade dextrose!). Wrote to them for info regarding corn, specifically. They sent back the same information I sent them, with no answer. I wrote again, twice, and was completely ignored. Why are they hiding that information? So, I lost my $$ because couldn't take any without knowing the answer, it could kill me. So I tossed away the bottle of C. Very unhelpful company customer service. Dangerous if you have serious sensitivities.

Dr. Gundry strikes me as the kind of person who has a lot of very interesting information, but sometimes I question his judgement as to how he puts that information together into a practice. Look at his info on Vitamin C, for example. Has there ever been a time when homo sapiens had a consistent, ongoing influx of Vitamin C into their diet? Most of our species has never lived in the jungles. We evolved to walk long distances in order to make our way on the savannahs and grasslands. Do even modern hunter-gatherers in the tropics have that? I wonder. Our Ice Age ancestors lived for tens of thousands of years in frigid conditions. Where was the Vitamin C there? Continual influx of Vitamin C seems like it has rarely, if ever, been the norm for our species. That being said, maybe it is beneficial but can something be beneficial if it's that inconsistent with our species' evolution? I appreciate the work of Dr. Grundry, and I don't doubt the results he gets from his patients, but I do wonder if people will be able to get similar or better results with less extreme dietary interventions as the practice of functional medicine develops.
