And before anyone replies saying that it isn’t, magic has been shown to exist in the TV series and the Sam Wilkinson map implies that the people working on the show might see it as being canon.

I read an idea somewhere that this red engine could be a Furness Railway 115 4-6-4 tank engine, which makes sense considering the relation of Sodor to the FR. This red engine must’ve been a loaned engine until the NWR were able to buy more.

In my headcanon, this red engine is an LNER B4 (GCR 8F). He was originally numbered 1095 by the GCR and his real name is Allen, but was called by his title, Alled Greedy.

I can confirm this is actually true, this engine isn't mix traffic nor it is eagle or Johnson, it's actually an unnamed red engine so guys give it a name and see what fits well! Or just show us a design and see if we can agree on what it should be like, this video actually gives off true vibes as indeed this engine has no name, it's not mix traffic so it looks like an express engine/a long tender engine. alley greedy first fandom video I've seen was "alled greedys apples"

I forgot to mention this in the last video, but I didn't need to. I always replace this guy with Adam, because OMG IT'S SO CONVENIENT THAT W&S №3 DOESN'T HAVE A CONCRETE BASIS! Plus their fronts are similar enough.

You know what, I actually stupidly believed that audio was real for a while... My god I need to be more observant... But regardless one of the red engines in my headcanon is called Alled Greedy and he's an LNER B4 class and his fan made story "Alled Greedy's apples" by theburiedtruck is canon in my canon. And once again this isn't fact, it's just my head canon. Besides i like the name.

I can kinda see them as two things in my personal AU: Either some LMS engine that Dalby and Middleton screwed up to some extent or a Furness 115 series tank engine. Either way, they're just someone who went to Sodor once, pulled some trains, maybe had a funny incident with taking the wrong train or bumping in to some coaches too hard, and returned home to its homeland.

In my headcanon The Red Engine is LBSCR K class and his name would be Afton (I want my Thomas to be with his cousins)

In my HeadCannon, The Red Engine is a LBSCR K class, hes nice unlike the 3 bullies (gordon 98462 and 87546), and becomes freinds with edward an henry. and his name is Jax, he kinda knows Thomas, Timothy, and Stepney from LBSCR, tho he was trial to sodor AFTER 98462 and 87546 were sent on trial, but this is just a head cannon, not facts, so dont tak thus comment too seriously

Awdry never said the red engine had a name, and I wouldn’t surprised if they confirm that red engine is nameless. (Because seriously about it, Edward Thomas Henry Gordon and Alled greedy? Awdry would not give the characters when he was writing his books during the 40s full names since if that was the case every engine on the NWR would’ve had that, sure Sir Handel and Peter dam have full names, but it was only implemented when they were created).

I think I saw a video claiming that the first red engine was Alled Greedy and didn’t think to much of it, I didn’t even know it was false. Alled Greedy does sound is a unusual name but it’s alright for the most part. For my take on the red engine I would like to think that he’s a tank engine from the Furness Railway where Edward came from, like some of the other engines the red engine was also a jerk to the smaller engines, and like 98462 & 87546, the red engine was sent away

Honestly that’s fine it’s your AU as for the captions, that I’m trying to work out (tho then again some captions in video form whether in KZread or some other sites never match). I’ll still try to work with them.

The way I see him, the 1st red engine is just some visiting LMS engine joining in on the banter as that makes his red livery (LMS Crimson Lake) make more sense. As for name? Who cares as he appears in one illustration and that was it.

In my au, the Engine is female and is named Mabel she came to the railway in 1923.She is a LB&SCR H2.

I personally think that both of the Red Engines that aren't James are from the neighboring Furness Railway.

And ofcourse I think I know how I can fix the red Engine's reasoning with it's red livery

I really dislike the name Alled Greedy, not only because it’s fake, but also because it kinda sounds tacky when put up against the names of the other engines: Edward, Henry, Gordon, Thomas, Alled Greedy… It really sticks out like a sore thumb. Also I like how while you covered up the username on the message at 2:13 that says the Alled Greedy name is fake, I can still tell that’s my message lmao. 👌 In my AU, I like to think that he is an LB&SCR K class (like the BTWF model seen in he video) whose name is “Felix,” though the only reason I gave him a name at all was because I didn’t want to keep referring him as “1st red engine.” lmfao

I’ve thought about this engine being female and named Bridget from since I was 10 (due to looking like they have thick eyelashes with their eyes closed which is associated with females in art plus being red like James who comes off as feminine with his looks and personality (side note; Henry (mainly CGI him) Percy Peter Sam and Luke have also come off as feminine to me) and I think red looks good on females) and maybe she could’ve been a Claughton sent to help out in 1923 (when the LMS was formed where she’d be red) with the mainline shortage taking passenger trains but then returning back home in 1925 (where James would come in after) to save money especially with how the railway was back then and how being bigger she would be more expensive to keep. She could also work as still being around to this day as preserved somewhere on The Mainland or back on the NWR Mainline helping with passengers.

Up to you, tbh there isn’t really a right or wrong answer when it comes down to headcanon/ideal/AU.

I knew the whole "Alled Greedy" thing was false from day one. Down to the fake Johnny Morris and stupid name.Did ppl really think Awdry would pick out names like Edward, Gordon and Henry and then suddenly say "whoops" and Alled Greedy. I just played along as we finally had something to call him as the fandom accepted Eagle/Winston as the nickname for the unnamed red engine. It gets tiring having to say "The First Red Engine from the RWS" every time. My take, his "name" is a play on "Allegedly Greedy". Btw thanks for using and crediting apart of my video. Personally I numbered him 76624.

First of all that audio is so clearly fake. Secondly, even if it was real, they never confirmed which engine that was. That could’ve been the red engine, but it also could’ve been the green engine if you believe that not to be Henry (seeing as the island of Sodor book states, the sad story of Henry takes place before the events of Edwards day out). The fact of the matter is, if people want that to be the name of the red engine, that’s perfectly fine for their head canon, but canonically we do not know who that engine is. And honestly, I prefer that we don’t know as it means you can come up with your own idea of who is this engine and what his story is.

Why do people keep believing headcanons to be actual canon I have no idea. But now that leaves us with 87546 then we’ll have debunked all the rumours surrounding the background engines from the Three Railway Engines. Side note - the red engine sounds a bit like Diesel in that fake narration.

well this video might give you somewhat of answer, but one thing for sure, it ain’t from Awdry since he didn’t pay much mind to the other background characters, with the exceptions of 98462 and 87546. I never had a problem with it being a headcanon thing, but I don’t recall anywhere in the RWS or about Awdry ever giving the First Red Engine a name.

Back to another series of misconception debunking. Ngl, I didn't even know that the unnamed red engine was even called "Alled Greedy" by fans. (Hell, I didn't even know "Alled Greedy" even is a name to begin with!) Also, I feel like that "unused narration" is actually false...maybe fan narration even. Because in reality, that's not what it was written in the books...like at all. NONE of the background engines were referred to by name and I'm certain none of the engines were referred to by color even. Also, if the OG illustrations of Three Railway Engines about Edward, Henry, and Gordon literally being the only engines of the NWR at the time was true...maybe those three background engines (98462, 87546, and unknown red engine) weren't even supposed to exist. This further backs up my theory (again, theory. Don't take what I said as a confirmed fact, you're allowed to understand my points while maintaining your own opinions) of Edward supposed to be the engine that was pushing Henry out of the tunnel, as the engine that was pushing Henry out of the tunnel was a 4-4-0 in the original illustrations. However, this does genuinely raise another question...let's assume our three established actually named characters in the books were supposed to have been the only three engines in Three Railway Engines, if that was the case... Why did we get the line "Once upon a time there was a little engine called Edward in a Shed with five other engines" when the book was officially published? Yes, Edward + FIVE (not two) other engines when the book was first officially published. Could the three nothing background engines have been established all along as intended? I kinda doubt it...since those background engines we got when the book was officially published didn't appear in the OG illustrations. Or...or maybe...just maybe... maybe the line "Once upon a time there was a little engine called Edward in a Shed with five other engines" was supposed to have been different? Like instead of "five other engines", it was originally "two other engines". It's possible and I personally this would've made a lot more sense to not have the three background non-entities at all, when Edward, Henry, and Gordon are clearly the main focus of the overall book. Disagree with my thoughts on the overall matter? That's fine too. Of course, had those three background engines not existed, these misconceptions we have now wouldn't exist and ScorchZane wouldn't have been making these videos debunking these particular contradictions between fan interpretations and reality. On the other hand...in it's own right, it would be interesting to imagine a timeline where Edward, Henry, and Gordon were indeed supposed to have been only the engines to appear in Three Railway Engines, as shown in the OG illustrations. (Thomas as a character was only thought of by Wilbert for his son, Christopher, after the latter...supposedly did not like Edward's model that much...) As well as the fact that were was originally ONE tunnel in the OG illustration, as Middleton was the one who screwed it up and had two tunnels from the get go. Since the North Western Railway was only recently being constructed and expanded upon...now I'm no financial expert but this could make sense if the recently established railway only had three engines, (4 if y'wanna include Thomas) all of which were officially purchased, at the time and not even a single loaned engine.
