Let's talk about the best nutrient to boost collagen. Basically, collagen is a protein that connects your body together.
Collagen is in many different parts of your body, including your:
• Cartilage
• Tendons
• Ligaments
• Bones
• Teeth
• Skin
• Eyes
• Vessels
• Gut
• Spinal discs
• Fascia
• Muscles
The top nutrient that boosts collagen is copper. Copper has a direct effect on making collagen, preventing the loss of collagen, and making elastin.
Copper is a trace mineral that's needed in a very small amount, but it's necessary for the enzymes that allow proteins to form.
Symptoms of a copper deficiency:
• Swayback (lordosis)
• Loose skin
• Aging skin
• Hernias
• Weak joints
• Weak spinal discs
• Varicose veins
• Weak muscles
Benefits of copper:
• It transports iron
• It supports immunity
• It can help reduce excess sweating
• It supports endurance exercise
• It can help slow down greying
• It can help improve balance in the dark or when your eyes are closed
• It can help decrease uric acid
• It can help detox fluoride
• It helps warm your feet
Foods rich in copper:
• Liver
• Kidney
• Oysters
• Shellfish
• Shiitake mushrooms
• Sesame seeds
Common causes of a copper deficiency:
• A lack of copper in the soil
• Gastric bypass surgery
• Taking too much ascorbic acid
• Taking too much zinc
• Consuming too much sugar
• Consuming alcohol
• Consuming too much fiber (added functional fibers)

It’s a shame we pay for medical care that our doctors don’t/won’t/refuse to give us, and we have to literally go to social media for basic nutritional help and more. This is tragic! But thanks, Dr. Berg, for caring enough to help those whom their own doctors could care less about. Literally.

The saying is "couldn't care less". Because then, 'literally', it makes sense - they could *not* care less. If they _could_ care less, then they _do_ care. People get this wrong all the time. Thank you.

In America they are trained to manage the symptoms of disorders, Drs might hear these things and pass it on... functional medicine is learned by some Drs that study beyond Americas 'managing' your symptoms. Functional Physicians are few and far between, and very expensive to see . They are studying and researching what the body needs to get and stay healthy. Most healthy living information comes from overseas, centuries old.

My success story. I started intermentent fasting 6 weeks ago. I started for weight loss, but the secondary effects are wonderful. I havent added a strict keto diet. I already reduced sugar and caffeine intake several years ago. I am actually eating an equal to or greater than calorie intake since i started fasting. So the only thing i changed is eating in a timely manner. The first week was 16/8. Each week i tightened the timeline. I am now on OMAD. In 6 weeks i have lost 45 lbs. 4 inches of my waist. Mental clarity has greatly increased. I had to take pills daily for acid reflux, arthritis, and blood pressure. I am now completely off all medications. Zero arthritis pain. Zero acid reflux, and the blood pressure meds were causing low blood pressure, so my doc took me off them, and now my pressure is normally 110/65. I am 6 foot tall and started fasting at 255 lbs. I am currently at 210 and my goal is 180. Thank you Dr Berg. I havent felt this good since i was a teenager. My sleep is awesome. My energy level is amazing. Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer runs high in my family. For the first time ever i feel as if i may have a chance for a long HEALTHY life. This isnt a diet, it is a natural lifestyle. Much love to Dr Berg.

I'm a South African farmer. Most soils are not really depleted of minerals but from the functional microbes to unlock the available micro nutrients to plants.....exactly like in the human gut. Yes, soils function much the same way. If you can manage to stay away from pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics and copy natural processes of the "soil food web" in the farming production practises, you wil find that our food wil become high in quality and nutrient dense, without deficiencies. If it kills soil microbes then plants, insects, animals and humans will pay the price on the food chain. It's a paradigm to shift, but very true. Just keep it real, don't use/eat stuff that you can't pronounce - it's probably not good for anything.

  • @4UnlimitedBEing

    @4UnlimitedBEing

    Жыл бұрын

@Karen F do NOT buy a supp that has cu & zi together! They utilize the same uptake pathway, so if you take them at the same time or close together, they will compete for those pathways, and since we take zi in much larger quantities than cu, it will tend to beat out the cu. I always suggest to folks to take them at opposite times of the day. Take 1 with your morning supplements and 1 with your evening supps. Also, surprised Dr. B didn't mention this, but a liquid chlorophyll supplement or concentrate is generally a good source of plant-based copper (vs an ore or compound). Just make sure to find one sans preservatives and added sugars. Often there will be options of plain or with mint added for flavor, and clover and alfalfa are the common plants sourced for a chlorophyll supplement. Personally, I like the taste, though not everyone will, and, in addition to the copper, it has the bonuses of cleansing the gut and the blood and improving the iron carrying capacity of RBCs! When I'm on a long bike adventure I like to add a serving to one of my water bottles. Also sometimes when I have a heavy workout or long walk/jog, especially on hotter summer days. It feels like I'm more oxygenated and I tend to have better workouts & endurance. Dr. B also didn't mention common dosage or side effects. I'm not advising you--do your own research--however, I'll say the standard RDA is generally set at 2mg on cu (& 20-50mg on zi, not to exceed 50mg). You can suffer symptoms from excess, and what I've read the consensus hovers around excess more likely if regularly supplementing >8-10mg daily. Most ppl will only require 2-4mg based on research I've read, but again, do your own research, make your own informed choices, and reach out to a professional who is well based in the topic of nutrition, such as a naturopath, if you have specific questions or concerns. :)

  • @4UnlimitedBEing

    @4UnlimitedBEing

@@danielvarela5519 correct. I always recommend folks to take them at opposite times of the day--like cu with morning supps & zi with evening supps, because they do compete for the same uptake pathways. (See my comment to Karen F.) My research has shown that some of the best & most bioavailable sources, outside of certain whole foods, are liquid chlorophyll and dessicated animal organ supplements, sourced from pasture-grazed animals. There's a few product lines that seem to have great quality supplements of such, often sourcing their animals from New Zealand ranchers. Just an FYI. ;)

@@4UnlimitedBEing I have found conflicting scholarly results re: chlorophyll and the copper bioavailability within that... the Cu atom is essentially locked up in the center of a heme complex. Usually free-form heme to shunted to the spleen for recycling (body thinking there's iron inside, not copper). Some studies show a very poor rise in plasma copper following liquid chlorophyll intake, others say there is a measurable difference. Makes me think glycinates are the way to go... but there's certainly no harm in eating green, leafy vegetables for that chlorophyll content to act as a trickle feed of copper for all those important enzymes like Catalase, ATPase, Nitrite Reductase, SOD, etc.

We have Drs in the US who've been trained for generations, at medical colleges which were founded by the Rockefellers, who were also heavily invested in the new drugs prescribed for so many ailments. While the newly invented, patented drugs did & still do often help people, we now know that there are often significant medical errors which have caused many deaths & harmful, often long term damage from the side effects & that many have been severely harmed by taking the wrong, & even the supposed right dangerous medicines. Some of those harmful drugs once used on a large scale were eventually taken off the shelves. Drs were & still are trained to find the drugs to fit the ailments of patients, based upon the early findings & claims of the manufacturers of medicines, backed by the founders of their medical schools. So, it's fair to say that many Drs are encouraged to give people drugs, which profit the drug makers. In some cases Drs were given kickbacks for prescribing certain meds above their competitors, which may or may not be the best course of treatment for all patients, & not ethical.

Have cared for and raised thousands of sheep in S.E. section of PA and in upstate NY!--from the center of New York's State (south of Utica), through north of Syracuse. The "Great Lakes" area in all the states they touch, and in the great Northeast from Maine down through Pennsylvania, and across from the Atlantic Ocean, almost to the Mississippi River, is known to be deficient in Selenium, and in a minor way, deficient in Copper. With our sheep we always had to supplement Selenium up to but not to exceed 40 PPM. Cattle both Dairy and meat usually need a Copper boost, and although many farmers throughout New York do not realize it, also need Selenium. Sheep needing Selenium often cannot tolerate cold, and have heart and muscle problems and if severely deficient and die from unexplained causes. Sheep also need a correct level of copper, but are extremely sensitive to too much copper! A salt-laced mineral mix made especially for our area is offered to protect the life and health of our lambs and sheep! Cows and beef Cattle deficient in Copper, can be really unthrifty, unable to get bred, and produce very low milk quality and quantity. It's difficult to replace the minerals IN THE LAND of beautiful Upstate New York formed by movement of Glaciers, but we definitely can help our animals to be healthy, therefore being and producing healthy food for all. It's often the "little things" that really matter!!! Blessings!

Nice listening to you and thank´s for your health advice. That one is a game changer, focusing more on my copper intake now instead of some expensive collagen powder.

This is good timing. I just started taking Shiitake powder for copper supplementation. I'm not entirely sure how much copper I'm getting but we'll see how it goes. EDIT: I was supposed to take them three times a day...Back at square one.

Crazy how this overlooked mineral is SO important! I think I can safely say that I have every symptom of copper deficiency that Dr. Berg mentioned. BUT I am nervous to take a supplement because someone more knowledgeable than me told me that if you take too much, you can overtax your liver in as little as a month. And it is very hard to return to "normal" once that happens. Idk, but my body needs some help. Too bad there are so few doctors out there that know what Dr. Berg does.

@@DK-cd8og I saw somewhere that you shouldn't take more than one mineral at a time because they compete for absorption. Anyway people say many things, how long did it take before you felt it working?
