    Lord this fish has the scales of a dragon. I can’t believe there’s a fish in this world where a hammer is needed to remove the scales.

    this is a typical example of showing that when something is hard outside it is protecting something soft inside. look how hard those scales are and how soft the inside is. nice video 👍

    I've watched this a couple of times before, and I've always been amazed at the variety of fish that's stocked in the pond/lake. As well as a couple of catfish ( was one a Paraiba?) I also recognised the Alligator Gar andsome variety of carp alongside the Arapaima. Yes I am also a fan of Jeremy Wade's River Monsters- that's how I've come to recognise all those different fish!

    Looks delicious for sure, but I wouldn’t dare to eat it raw. Just think about the worm larvae of all kinds in the flesh of a freshwater fish that big. Fry it with all the herbs, it’s a different story!

    I was sure I'd see parasites in the flesh. But that prehistoric armor is formidable. It's amazing that old fashioned labor, is still the best way to remove scales like this.

    OK, I researched and found more info on this fish, thanks to your comments. The fish is the ARAPAIMA ( local/native name) or PIRARUCU (Portuguese name). It is native to the Amazon River of Brazil and found also in Colombia. It was imported to -- and successfully raised in -- fish farms of Thailand and Malaysia. This is a really big fish reaching more than 2 meters long and weighing 100 kilograms. And people consider it quite tasty. Bon Appetit!

    @@Saartje05 you can see how strong and big the fish is, they can't even hold it because it's super slippery, 4 men just to take that fish out of the water and put it in the container. How about you try to kill that fish before calling the ppl that are skilled "idiot", you're the dummy here. If you try to stab it, you will definitely injure yourself. They have to move the fish to the cooking place so they have to freeze it anyway to keep it fresh, why make a blood scene then put it in to the container when they can just freeze to kill it. Dude, they literally use a hammer to get rid of its scales

  • @curlysshuffle1157

    @curlysshuffle1157

    3 жыл бұрын

    Oscar Ricky. ... first of all the size of a fish has nothing to do with how hard it is to scale or not! and that goes for 95 to 99% of all fish caught in the world!!!!! A baby 5 to 20 lb tarpon or full-size adult tarpon, carp, sturgeon, will be hard to scale .....again many are definitely harder depending on the tool you're using! ( most aren't even good eating or edible fish to begin with ) except maybe sturgeon, anyway there are many others I can't even think of right now / have huge scales and are very thick skinned on top of it... similar to like a rattlesnake LOL but I guarantee you with the right tool it could be anywhere from 3 to 6 in long as long as it's heavy and thick excetera...... it will scale that fish in a moment !!! no matter what species.... there is no need to use a freaking Carpenter/framers hammer to scale any fish! I'm sure the guy standing there beating that fish right now would disagree with me and whatever...... Many other tools would be effective to do this again regardless of the size of the fish it's all about the tool! This is seriously one of the stupidest things I've ever seen!! ...... this is extra stupid work that is not necessary! First of all why the fuck would you leave the skin on a dinosaur freshwater carp species like that?? why would you leave the skin on ?????? what is the point......the meat will not fall apart when cooking.....as in compared to many other delicate fish like locally that we have in Florida known as spotted sea trout !!!! They are very delicate and it ( does help tremendously with spotted sea trout if you scale it first and leave the skin on ) as it helps hold to meat together... anyhow all those strikes to that fishes fillets on both sides are doing nothing good for the fillets let alone not necessary how freaking stupid!! Absolutely straight up nasty

    The longer I watched the more confused I got cause every time I thought I had a grasp on what kind of dish they were making, something new would pop up and then I had no idea lol. It's actually quite a fun, humbling and educational moment really cause you can't look at what's going on simply through your own lens. I mean hell I knew we were dealing with Thai cuisine when I saw all them peppers but given all that was going in mostly my brain went to like something of a stir fry but that seemed odd, and then the lime leaves and various fruits came into the mix and I was officially lost. I have VERY little experience with Thai food myself so I only one by reputation (that it tends to be very spice heavy). So I enjoyed learning a bit more about it. Also when they were descaling that freaking monster of a fish I was like "damn". Like butchering a dragon or something, I was amazed how clearly tough that skin was too
