Testing Sport Mode on the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT
After a year of riding my Honda Rebel 1100 DCT, it's time to finally explore the most aggressive riding mode: Sport Mode. I've been hesitant to try it out as a true beginner, but it only took a year to feel like I could take it to the next level.
This video is my first time riding in sport mode and a follow-on review of it in comparison to the other modes.

Just bought my 1100 DCT! The dealer and a lot of people said to start out in rain mode because the power of the bike is more than you expect. Drove in rain mode for 1 day and swapped to standard. Im a newer rider slowly building up experience to get on a highway. I think I will be in the same boat as you and maybe not use sport mode for the first 6 months to a year. I could feel the difference between Rain and Standard but it didnt feel super drastic. Looking forward to more rides and Sport mode on some winding back roads! Thanks for showing your experience! Channels/videos like yours have helped me know this bike in and out before i even hopped on. From the first ride it felt like I've driven the bike before. Thanks you!
The wooohooo you gave put as you rolled into sport mode!!!! That was Awesome!!!!!
I love my 2024 1100 rebel! Enjoy life ! And god bless you🙏

It's such a good bike, and a great one to adapt to whatever skill level, environment, and even mood (I put mine on Rain mode if I want to really take it easy). Stay safe on it! I would say enjoy the bike, but since you got an 1100, I already know you are 😝
I really enjoyed how happy you sounded. That's what it's all about. The pure enjoyment of riding. Ride your ride

It is such a blast! I can't wait to take the 1100 on the highway in sport mode. Now I see why people like fast bikes
While I have had it in Sport and Standard, since I mostly commute and ride in the city, I started keeping in Rain most the time since the throttle is so snatching/twitchy. Love it!
I've just had my Rebel 1100 DCT delivered last week. Only been out on it three times this far. Mainly down to the weather. I've been riding an MT07 little over a year. However, up to now, I'm loving it.

Exciting! I hope you enjoy your Rebel. I have definitely been enjoying mine :)
rode thousands of miles as a youngster but had not been on a street bike over 35 years, just a couple months on the Rebell 1100 but loving it, best bike I ever had, mine is manual so shift points are my choice (no D mode) but usually run in standard or user, sport mode is fine but might burn a bit more gas (wish this bike had a bit more range) in user I typically go full power, low T, and low EB, the engine braking in sport is a bit intense especially in low gears giving it that twitchy feel, any water on the roads I go to rain mode, great videos for people starting out (or starting over 😊), thanks!

Each mode is like having a whole new bike. I tend to stay in standard, but might switch to sport mode every once in a while now that I've had a taste of it :)
Great review!! I've had my bike since May 2022, and left the dealer in User Mode with the power all the way down and EB all the way down. The second day I had the bike I put it in Standard Mode and it got away from me on a tight turn and I hit the curb :( I went back into user mode with power all the way down ever since! I'm now using it everday on the freeway for my commute and I'm just starting to think of putting it in standard mode. It's baby steps for me...
@mostdefjeff_
Жыл бұрын
I completely agree that it's all about baby steps: It took me six months to switch over from rain mode to standard, and only when I was confident that I was ready for it. Then another six months to try sport mode. Now I stay in standard most of the time. Stay safe and ride at your own pace, in whichever mode is most comfortable.
The Sport mode makes you a teenager again. It made me happy, smiling, and ready for the weekend! Goodnight.

You Go Girl!!! I started off riding my ’22 1100 DCT the same way. As my skills grew, so did my modes. I suggest using the “User” mode to help sharpen your skills and you can set it to your skill level. I use“Sport” mode when I want to “air” my bikes engine and transmission out a bit! I've been hearing that a lot, that User mode is a great way to customize the ride, especially as you grow into the bike. I need to play around with the settings and see what works best for my riding style. I'm glad to know you've got yours figured out! If I may ask, what are the different settings you configured your User mode to? Looking for suggestions 😝
I have a 2021 CMX1100DCT and you are doing it right. Start off gently and grow into the power modes as you gain experience. The owner's book tell you that Sport Mode delay's shifting until higher rev ranges., so that's normal. (Word on the street is that Dyno-Jet makes a "Power Commander" that eliminates the herky-jerky-ness at slower speeds). As soon as I can afford one (about $400.00) I intend to add one to my bike. That is about my only negative on this bike. Ride safe and enjoy. Peace. Eric in Kissimmee Florida.
@mostdefjeff_

That makes sense and I agree that it can be a bit twitchy, even in standard mode sometimes. Still a great bike! I'm sure you get to enjoy yours more than I can mine because it's almost always warm in Kissimmee. Below-freezing days like today make riding less attractive
OMG i also get giddy like that LOL!! I ride in user mode P:3 T:3 E:1 D:1. i like that setting because it gives me the throttle response i like without the roughness in slow speeds when you get off the throttle as you experienced. I'm really enjoying your videos, i'm binge watching them at 3 in the morning LOL

As a new again rider (1100 dct) I very much enjoy your comments and insights. Standard mode 90 percent of the time; User mode 10 percent, with -1 bar off 'D'. So that the bike is in less of a hurry to get into 6th gear, which can be a bit "luggy" on hills and in traffic.
@mostdefjeff_
Жыл бұрын
That's my problem with standard and rain mode too. It'll kick into 6th gear when I'm going 35 MPH. I'll admit, it's more relaxing, but it does feel sluggish and that the power just isn't there to draw on when I want it
I have 1100 DCT and usually ride in Standard but use Sport on twisty turn roads. I've riden over 25 years so I tried all the modes immediately but I appreciate you learning you bike and building your skills before trying Sport mode. I just wish the bike had a longer frame cuz I 5' 11" and it's abit cramped riding even with pegs extensions and 3" Handlebar risers.
@mostdefjeff_
Жыл бұрын
Do the bar risers feel better than the original handlebar position? I'm looking into bar risers myself because I lean forward more than is comfortable. I have 1" but think 4" may be what I actually need
@Mo_Trixx
Жыл бұрын
@@mostdefjeff_ Yes, risers help lots. I have 3", easy to put on. Some other rebel KZread are posted that he put 4" on without changing the brake fluid cable line but I can't figure out how to do that period I would love to have them.
Just getting used to mine, but I like sport mode.
The modes do make a big difference. Every setting can be 1 2 or 3... Power (P), Torque Control (T), Engine Braking (EB), DCT shifting (D)... Sport mode is P3 T1 EB2 D3. I use User mode, I just turn the EB down so a little less engine braking, so I run P3 T1 EB1 D3... if I was going to use auto mode a lot (I really only use manual mode), I'd probably stick it down to D2 though, just to keep the RPMs lower for normal cruising, but I like to stick auto mode on if I want to take off really fast from a stop 😇, so I leave it D3 . I use Rain Mode any time it can be wet or slippery conditions, and it feels like a much smaller engine bike, but I feel a bit safer.

I still feel that way every time I pop it into sport mode! It's such a quick bike, and since it looks like a cruiser, people don't assume you might be faster than them on the road ;)

This is an awesome bike! I hope you get a lot of mileage out of your Rebel, as I am hoping to :)
Since day 1 (It has been set like this since I drove it off the lot) Sport mode - High Traction Control - Low Engine Brake - High I've never tried it any other way.
I like to mix it up when I'm bored but, I use the standard mode most of the time.
I have this bike for 3 weeks. Rain mode for me ? 2 days :) After that : standard. But I didn't tried sport yet....
How do you feel about chain maintenance? I like the bike but it not having a belt makes it less appealing than some of the competition (DCT is definitely appealing)
@mostdefjeff_
Жыл бұрын
I haven't had any trouble with the chain so far, though that's not to say it won't be a pain in the future. I have no other experience with other bikes to know what's normal, but the bike and chain have held up pretty well. And performing maintenance on my bike helps me feel more connected to it, as hokey as that sounds :P
I set my user mode like standard but with less TC. Less EB.

I’m thinking of getting this bike for my 1st bike. I took my motor cycle class on a old Rebel 250. Do,you recommend
@mostdefjeff_
Жыл бұрын
In a word: Yes! I think there is a big difference between the 250 and 1100 in size, weight, and of course power. I took my class on a little Zero S, and going from that to the 1100 was such a big difference that it took me a while to just get used to my Rebel. That said, I would recommend it as a beginner bike because it has different modes that can help you as you skill up. And with all the safety features like ABS and always-on LED lights, it's a great bike to start with. That's the route I went at least. Either way, congrats on finishing the class and I hope you have a fun (and safe) motorcycling journey!
I have had a 2021 Honda rebel 1100 DCT for almost 2 years. The sport mode keeps the RPMS high for longer than necessary, so I never use it.
Yeah beautiful bike but in sport mode the throttle is to twitchy… I prefer the standard mode… ride safe and cheers from Germany
