Just before the upgrade to Wilbers new suspension and fork springs, and the maintenance service 1,000km, I am going for a first mud test with the bike.
Tyres Dunlop D606 (Rear, 1,5 bar) - Pirelli MT21 (Front, 1,3 bar)
Impression on the Tyres D606 - MT21
The tyres were very good on the road at 1°c temperature (check my previous video 500km Break-in Ride), and they are just excellent in these muddy conditions. Excellent grip, very progressive, I felt confident in every situation. The bike is ultra forgiving and very well-balanced.
I am looking forward to upgrade to the Wilbers suspension and fork springs next week. Indeed the stock suspensions give a bit the Cadillac effect, bouncing all over the place (although, I think for light relax off-road the stock suspensions are completely compliant).

Salutations du Québec! The little red Pig dans son environnement natuel :-) Good job! Can't wait to get dirty as well. I already got the 606/MT21 on the DRZ. But I'll try the Motoz Tractionator Enduro S/T on the CRF300L.

Greetings from Belgium. Wish you a lot of mud as well 😁 I've heard good things about the Motoz (lasting longer than the D606), I am sure this will be a great choice 😉

I live southern Spain and we almost never get those great muddy conditions. I run the MT21 tires front and rear . Installed rim locks and run 12 psi front and rear. The Pirellis work well in all conditions here.

Indeed, great tire in all conditions. I've installed Tubliss system with the rim lock integrated. That's really an asset to be able to run low pressure... surely in the mud 😁

Doesn’t the D606 raise the rear about an inch while the MT21 is pretty much stock height? Does that affect much?

Some complaints indeed D606, you are lossing about 3-5% torque power and rasie a bit the machine... honestly I can't compared, but stock tires review were so bad, I've asked my dealer to change the tires before taking the bike. I can't be happier about my choice...

Fellow rally owner here from Australia …what is 2 pound in PSI for tyre pressure? You can ride. I was riding a clay mud track through a forest and the stock tyres caked up very quickly …needless to say I went very slow and steady .

Great to hear from you, dear Australian fellow. When you mention 2 pounds, what exactly are you referring to? As for the stock tires, they're quite poor in quality; I never even rode with them. I immediately switched to D606 Rear and MT21 front tires, using Heavy Duty Tubes (Michelin) for both. IMO, It's truly the ideal combination for both road and mud. For muddy terrain (and road junctions), I keep the pressure at 17.4 psi (front) and 21.8 psi (rear). The tyres never cake up and the grip is excellent (even on muddy pavement). While I could deflate the tires further for a better grip on the trails, since I ride solo, I prefer to minimize the risk of punctures... And when I'm solely riding on the road, I adjust to 21.8 psi (front) and 26.1 psi (rear).
