    In my experience as A 2023 Tucson leasee, the low turn signals on the current version of the Tucson are something that has been overblown. When I follow other Tucson’s, they are actually very obvious and bright. I actually notice them much better than on other vehicles when they are higher and mixed in with red taillights. Even up close behind the Tucson, you can’t miss the yellow flashing even if you can’t see the light itself. And of course there are the mirror turn signals. However, it is odd that they would lower them more given that people have so much anxiety about it. Bottom line though, here in the US, half of the drivers don’t even use turn signals. And that’s what really gets me pissed.

    Korea can only have amber lights for turn signals. Only a few FTA'd US cars have red turn signals, i.e., Tesla, Dodge to name a few. So many in Korea complain about low turn signals. I completely understand both sides, but I am also more on the "It's okay," side.

    I never had a issue with the Tucson rear turn signals, and I sit high above everyone else on the road (🚛). The people who complained about the Tucson rear turn signal are usually those who kept their eyes fixated in one spot (tunnel vision) or distracted with a cell phone in their hand while driving (I am only speaking for the US). Unfortunately, these people will be the usual suspects running into the back of vehicles regardless the placement of the turn signals.

    This got 68 likes which means a bunch of people agree turn signals are TOO LOW. Why is this a problem with Hyundai and Kia??? (Previous Santa Fe, Carnival, Kona). Move the turn signals up to the brake lights where people expect to see turn signals... some Hyundai Kias have them, others don't. Please listen to your customers, its a safety issue.

    you are the only reviewer that pays so much attention to transmissions. here in europe people do not know anything about them so manufacturers put dcts everywhere because they are cheaper. even if you buy brand new car the salesperson does not know what type of transmission is in the car they sell. 'it's automatic' they say. I still manage to get cars with real automatic transmissions however, two years ago I bought hyundai tucson hev 6 speed and I love it :)

    Thanks for the great review and it's definitely a candidate for my next car when it's available in my country. My current ride is a 12' elantra md with 6AT, and I used to drive it as a manual transmission. That is, I manually gear up/down to gain a quicker acceleration or extra braking force. Just wondering how is the engine brake feel like in this DCT gearbox?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    Softer and smoother all around hence what I've felt initially at the start of the video. I've also used paddle shifters and "manually" shifted too and that's when that DCT characteristics pop out the most. Even so, it still is quite smooth and softer compared to what I've felt in my Seltos.

    I like the pre-facelift version but I do like the exterior of this new one slightly more... The DRLs are only 4 vs 5 pre-facelift which is more practical and larger lights. But the interior is improved with physical knobs for volume and the large curved display for the cockpit/infortainment. Almost feels like a new car with the much improved cabin. Hybrid would be the way to go imo...

    I mostly always read out the entire name after quoting an abbreviation, but guess I missed that out on this video. It is Highway Driving Assist. This is the explanation of the tech from the web: "Highway Driving Assist is designed to help detect vehicles and lanes ahead, and help maintain distance from the vehicle ahead, maintain the set speed, and keep the vehicle between lanes while driving on the highway (or motorway)."

    Thank you for this review. I currently own a 2022 Tucson Limited hybrid. It has been a great car overall. My disappointments have been lower than advertised MPG's (31 vs 36) and the lack of a volume knob (and other knobs.) In your humble opinion, does the 2025 have enough improvements that I should consider trading in my 2022 hybrid for a new 2025 hybrid?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    The MPG heavily depends on a driving habit and most of recent HMG cars always gave me very close MPG proposed by the manufacturers. Put aside those factors you are dissatisfied with, I think the interior really makes it a great upgrade if trading the car doesn't cost you a fortune. This ccNC is the latest tech from HMG, which will last for a few years.

    Agreed! 💯 I can assure you that it will be worth the wait - if it is three months we are talking about - but anything beyond three and more, not sure if I'd wait that much, especially when you need a car soon. The difference of a car being a hybrid and not was already significant on Santa Fe, which also was the case for Tucson. I strongly recommend that you can a hybrid, but do consider the price difference into calculation, because on an average, you break even after driving the vehicle for a minimum of two years with good amount of mileage. However, if the price isn't the factor and that you are not choosing a hybrid just because of the fuel economy, but what the hybrid provides - drive, coziness inside the cabin, environment-friendly, etc. - I say it is very much worth it.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe gas might be coming from Alabama plant in the USA. Money is of course a factor, however, it's about half of the difference. I mean, I'm interested in AWD, and it's extra on gas model, but it's standard on Hybrid. And I'm driving to work, about 12 miles, 5 days a week, so that's the primary reason for Hybrid. The ride factor, acceleration from stop and go, extra engine power, since gas is a little underpowered and Hybrid gives exactly that, fast and quite startup before it switches to gas.

    I drive a Kona facelift (2022) model 1.0 lt 7 DCT dry model for 20 months now, having about 20.000 klm, half of them in the city traffic and the rest on the open road. I have been following this technology from 2009 when the VW group started using their DSG 7 DCT dry gearbox. I have never heard anyone complain about the performance of a 7 DCT pre-synchronised gearbox! It is regarded top-notch technology, delivering much better performance and economy than any other type of automatic gearbox (except the CVT gearboxes) both in the city and outside, while being trustworthy and problems-free at the same time. It may not be as smooth as a constant transmission gearbox (e.g. the Mercedes ones) but it is reasonably smooth especially after the 2nd gear and after the 3nd gear I cannot see any difference with the constant transmission gearboxes anyway. So, with all due respect, but when I hear you say the phrase "...that everybody hates..." and also giving the impression that a 7 DCT dry pre-synchronised gearbox is not that good, I am sorry but I really do not understand what you are talking about...!

    I don’t know if “everyone” hates the DCT, but I can tell you that I do. The jerky, halting performance at very low speeds is an annoyance and even the nearby joggers and persons walking their dogs turn to look, wondering what is wrong with the car. A 15 year old new driver on a learner’s permit could work the gears of a standard shift better than the DCT handles shifting gears electronically. I think this is a very nice new SUV otherwise, but after driving a DCT from Hyundai for five years I won’t be driving another one. Other people can make their own decisions about it.

    In the US, Kona is subcompact and Tucson is compact. I take it Korea doesn't have anything bigger than a Palisade (what we would call full size)?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    @CarSceneKorea

    4 ай бұрын

    Yep. Not just Korea, but Hyundai in general. Palisade is the largest and the flagship SUV of Hyundai. There will be IONIQ 7; we'd have to wait and see about that one though.

    @@CarSceneKorea I know Hyundai doesn't offer anything bigger. My question is: does anyone in Korea? If so, what do you call those SUVs, like the Chevy Tahoe, since the names given to these SUVs in your videos suggest Palisade would be full size (the Palisade is only called midsize in the US)?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    @CarSceneKorea

    I'm sure there are people who want larger SUV, vehicle than Palisade, but the number will be small. Not that Koreans don't want a large size vehicle, but mostly has to do with physical restraint, such as tight corners, alleyways and underground parking lot clearance, etc.

    Is the transmission in the Hybrid a wet dual clutch transmission?.

  • @CarSceneKorea

    @CarSceneKorea

    What Tucson domestic(Korean) spec gets: 7spd dry DCT(Gasoline), 8spd Auto(Diesel), 6spd Auto(Hybrid). So there are different transmissions are technically available. There is no trim that gets 8spd wet DCT.

    Could vary depending on the market as you can see the difference from domestic models to that of the North America, check with your local dealership. It’s been 6spd auto for domestic Korean market with hybrids.
