Tesla Update May 2024. Some very cool new features: update 2024.14.3

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Tesla has started sending out software updates to their cars in Australia with some very nifty updates for the vehicles. I cover those in this video. Update 2024.14.3
Quick note, I think I didn't explain the sentry mode notification correctly. I thought it's whenever Sentry mode gets triggered, but it appears you only get a notification on your phone if the alarm gets triggered. Sorry about the confusion.

    The wiper toggle via the control wheel was already possible before this update - but instead of using the wheel (up/down) you'd press the wheel left/right to cycle through the wiper modes.

    Hey, Lee. Also not sure if the full screen visualisations are a good idea. Still, we're starved for FSD features in Australia so will probaly go with it at least for a while. Is your car using the Atom or Ryzen processor to drive the screen? Not sure if us oldies are going to get that feature.

  • @notacarguy_au

    @notacarguy_au

    12 күн бұрын

    I've got no idea what process my car is using. 🤣 I really don't think we are going to see FSD in Australia any time soon. For a whole host of reasons. But to start with it's been trained to train on other side of the road. I don't know much about programming, so maybe it's an easy thing to tell it, now do everything on the other side, but I don't think it is. Theres' regulatory challenges. We are a small market, though that may be a good thing as it means they can roll it out for testing and it's a small market to test on the right hand drive side of things. But the biggest reason I think it's not coming soon is that I don't think it's going to be "ready" any time soon. I've seen loads of amazing videos of how well it can work, but I've also seen loads of videos showing it not working and being downright dangerous. And seeing as you are trusting it to control a 2 ton vehicle moving at over 100km an hour sometimes, it has to work 99.9% of the time. 🤷🏻 Quite frankly, I wouldn't trust my life or anyone else's with it. Which is what you are doing when using it. Even Tesla has started calling it "monitored" or "supervised" or something like that. Which to me is an admission that they know it's not ready, even though they've been saying since 2016 or earlier that it will be ready "soon". Not sure "soon" means the same thing to them as it does to me. 🤣

    5:20, ...I'm not sure...: Totally. You're not alone. That view is definitely not for driver while driving. I'm guessing it is good for the system to make decisions in the backend; whatever it is, make it optional so driver can slide it off. Right now, it is pretty useless looking at cars in front, behind, all around and not sure what to make of them while moving at 100km/h 7:02, zoomed-in: It's worth noting that the map does not provide street names while in zoomed-in view. That sucks, and hopefully Tesla will fix that. The map, however, does show street names while zoomed out - which is odd. 7:31, scroll wheel: Now, this is a blessing to control wipers by scrolling up/down. The old way was to move the scroll wheel left/right. That sucked. *Wishlist:* - Adding the passenger's seat positions into a profile - Options to display speedometer and other gauges in analog - Show date next to time - One-touch for anything: Why do I need to do 2 touches to turn headlights on/off ? Why do I need to do 3 touches to turn cabin lights on/off ? Why do I need to hunt down where to enable child lock ? The darn screen is so big; Tesla should be able to make everything control front and center. Oh, and why make the brake light to scale ? Just make it BIG...and BRIGHT. Same for the signal lights.

    Im in K.C. Missouri; last week i had a 2023 Model 3 rental, while mine was gettin front bumper fixed the rental had this latest update, & now that i got mine back, which is also a 2023 Model 3, it doesn’t have it & is showing as up to date Who knows how they’re releasing this but clearly even cars in the same city don’t get it at the same time Ig all we can do is wait

    I feel your frustration. Normally I get these updates about 2-3 weeks after everyone else. It doesn't seem to matter how old or new your car is. It seems pretty random.

    Not all cars get the update at the same time. In the past it's taken my car 2-3 weeks after the update has come out before my car gets it.

    Great video as usual. I am still waiting for a better adaptive speed control, that could be customised to, how soon it slows down coming into a new speed zone. Today it’s not really adaptive at all, unless I have missed the setting somewhere.

    No, I think you’re right. I don’t think there is a way to customise that. Always a challenge for software developers as to how much do they hide to keep things simple versus how much they show to give users options. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Thanks, hope your back isn't too bad. It's funny, I knew the suspension on the Model Y wasn't great, but I've recently been reviewing a few other EVs, videos of those coming soon, and I now see who much better it can be. 🤣

    I don't like the new interface. Way too big and distracting. I'll be leaving maps the way I'm used to it. Sadly we don't have any choice with the update - once installed you can't go back and I'm unsure how long you can ignore an update until it forces an install.
