Tesla Model 3 Performance 2025 review: More power, new dampers and seats for updated electric car

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2025 Tesla Model 3 Performance has finally made its international debut, bringing with it earth-shattering, uh, performance - but this time it's out to prove that it's more than just a straight-line weapon, as serious upgrades have been made to improve its handling.
Building upon the 'regular' Model 3 facelift that entered the fray last year, the Performance adds a new, higher-output rear-mounted electric motor to bring combined power to 380kW and torque to 740Nm, resulting in a 0-100km/h sprint time for three seconds flat. But there's more, as adaptive dampers make their debut in the series alongside variant-specific front sports seats, plus more.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Corby travels to California to get behind the wheel of the new Model 3 Performance to find out if it's become a bonafide sports car with its first significant update. Hold on!

Who shot this video? The colors look awful, way too blue. The dynamic range is bad, in some shots in the car the sun seems to blind you. If you shot this video on a new iPhone the video quality would have been better. Also on the voice-overs the audio quality is bad. It sounds super tinny/echoy. Again, using the 20$ wired apple headphones gets you better audio quality than this. Crazy that you are one of the channels chosen by Tesla for pre-release videos.

6:48 The suspension is adaptive rather than active. The damper stiffness electronically adjusts in real time, but there is no high-speed actuation of the height of each corner like the Taycan Turbo GT with Porsche Active Ride, the S-Class with E-Active Body Control, or the BYD DiSus X. Only systems that can impart kinetic energy into the suspension are classified as active.

Why are you so full of yourself, why can't you just give us a straight review instead of endless throw away negative lines interspersed with comments that make you think far out that is a seriously good car. I mean who are you, I have never heard of you before and I am an Australian who watches a lot of KZread films on cars? Where did they wheel you out from? You know you say that this is the car that the serious Tesla engineers always wanted to build but weren't allowed to. You say the previous car was a one trick pony, that all it was good for was fast acceleration in a straight line. No it wasn't, you are so wrong there. The previous car is really fast in a straight line, but it also really handled and the AWD system means it has nearly zero understeer or oversteer. I expect you are right that the new one is better, but why is that not the kind of advancement that you would expect when a car company does a major revision of their car. And on what basis and what evidence do you have that it was down to Elon Musk. Seriously, you need to have some basis for these kind of comments, which you have not produced. Mate, you really need to get over yourself!!!!!

Wow - I’m not sure why so many negative comments for this reviewer. I thought he did well. Ageist based comments perhaps... Thanks for taking the time for the review. Im in the market for a Tesla model 3 and really wanted a car more aligned to a driver in terms of handling/braking and steering. As a life long motorcyclist I don’t need 3 second performance (but would welcome it obviously!), however it’s the handling and the comments about being more rear wheel biased sound awesome. I’m will be coming from a M135 and Subaru WRX so enjoyed the insights. I’m close to ordering one. Wouldn’t mind seeing a track review video by a car reviewer before I order.

I think it's more that the journo made it blatantly clear he could not review the car without his personal hangups getting in the way so the score or his opinion, for what it's worth, can't be trusted.

Your information is significantly out of date. Risk of fire in an ev is significantly less than in petrol or hybrid.

All Tesla's are bland/nondescript exteriors & interiors ... May be good vehicles, but are SO many other plug in electric vehicles that exteriors & interiors put Tesla to shame, IMHO ...
