I hate getting into water but wish there was a swimming app where you can simulate swimming in beautiful Mediterranean sea or in a beautiful lagoon. It would just have two arms and hands on the screen as though I'm swimming along, and the water splashing. I hope someone makes one soon.

There are many mean comments here regarding Alistair "coming back to fight a croc". Looks like filming crew depicted it completely worng. Alistair literally said : "I pedaled into the inland, as my feet touched the ground I looked up , up 2 - 3 yards away there was this crocodile." Meaning that he still was in the water, but his feet could finally reach the ground underwater and why he was able to stand and spot a croc about 2.5 meters away(thats terrifying how close), which makes perfect sense why he did what he did in this situation. But Narrator fucked it up by claming he reached the shore. He didn't and never said so. Otherwise he wouldnt dive back in the water. It's absurd. It definetly was a missunderstading from production part. upvote this people.

I mean, with that context I can understand in an extremely tense and stressful situation (where you have little time to think), He decided fight, instead of flight. But what he should've done is back away slowly without disturbing the water. Croc may have left him alone, maybe not, but he the croc would've been less likely to attack had he just backed away slowly. But yeah, unless you've been face to face with an apex predator like that... who knows how you'd react. Would your mind even be capable of reasonable choices in that situation, or would your instincts completely override your decision making abilities? Easy to judge this man in the comfort of your own home.

I lived in Zimbabwe most of my life. It was the first thing you learnt going to Lake Kariba was hippo are very territorial and dangerous especially when they have babies in a nursery in the water. If you see hippo give them a really wide berth. Can't believe they are safari guides, you would know all this. These people fishing right in the middle of them...what did they expect?

@@thehashslingingslasher6443 No, it's not. If God wanted to protect this man's life so badly then why would God have his boat capsized by a hippo and have a croc attack him in the first place then? Unless God sent you a text or left you a voicemail explicilty stating that he sent the buffalo to save this man's life, then I'd say the buffalo protecting him was coincidence rather than divine intervention.

In addition to the helicopter never finding the people in trouble in all episodes, there´s another thing in common: there´s always a warning sign that is ignored - in this case, the mother should´ve stayed behind, then she could go for help with the daughter. In other episodes, obstacles appear telling people to abort and go back and so on and so forth.

Had a similar experirnce on the Selous river Tanzania, late 80s with Conrad Hirsh. Chased by hippos for ten days. We were rafting. Two rafts, one munched by a hippo. We all survived and paddled through multitudes of hippos on an unseasonably shallow river. It was epic.

When one thinks of the unfortunate imbeciles that wanted to get closer to top tier wild animals capable of killing them because they thought it'd be fun, and spent their last, long minutes literally being eaten alive by the beast they'd intruded on, it gives the sensible amongst us an even greater desire to get absolutely nowhere near anything even remotely that dangerous to human beings! The Internet abounds with videos and reports of such imbeciles, and their truly horrific deaths, all of which were wholly avoidable. I enjoy living in a country that has no such creatures in the wilds, as I couldn't imagine camping or packrafting in areas where such lethal beasts roam free. That's way too scary! Fear exists as nature's 'Heads Up!'

Wow great reenactment, literally have chills. After the hippo then the crocodile attack, the fire ants freaked me out the most, I was actually screaming. I also think the buffalo was a sign, knowing he was injured and was his spirit animal trying to protecting him. Course that didn’t help when he passed out and the army of flesh eating ants came out, which will surely give me nightmares now and usually don’t scare easily, Maybe the fact it was a true story, that poor family god bless them all.💙🙏🏻
