I lived and sailed the Sea of Cortez for 5 years. It is one of the most beautiful and the sea so rich in life. But man, it is not for giving. It is a desert. So dry that bees use to fly out to our boat even when we anchored out nearly a mile. They could sense fresh water and would swarm us for any water. We would put a pan out and they would swarm it. Same with our galley sink. Hundreds. We never got stung. That’s how dry it is there. Those guys were way over their heads before they even started. I participated a few times looking for kayakers lost and in trouble out there. Seas kayaking was a popular tourist activity. I Once rescued and saved a lady that absolute would have died had my wife and I not found her. Very wonderful but unforgiving to the unprepared. I

'Dont look at it' 😂.. and when he triumphantly caught that very tiny, tiny fish smaller than the length of his little finger😂.. Glad they made it home The fact that they drove home after all that made me holla futher😂. Brilliant.

They were dehydrated, starving, and scorched by the sun even if you were somehow willing to be positive, your brain chemistry wouldn't be capable. Yep. I grew up in Vermont and was in the Infantry 27 years. I often spend time alone in the woods, but leave an itinerary, ALWAYS have at least a day pack with enough for4 days (which can be one ration and water plus iodine tablets, a poncho and a gun (often in VT, there is no cell service, but 3 shots is a widely recognized distress call. Fire 3 shots, and people know that means somebody is in trouble and after 10 minutes fire 3 more and they can get a decent azimuth, even without a companss and distance estimate. And, you can hunt and while most animals in VT are not dangerous, I would rather be armed than not and of course some basic first aid equipment. Un real to me how many people I see going into the woods, even if on a trail and they are in sneakers, zero gear and have no idea what they are doing

Problem with Sat phone and garmin gps with text abd sos is ongoing subscription cost... at least with radio you buy it and own it... These days U.S. coast guard can triangulate your position based on your signal from boat or handheld radio.. boat radio is not enough. Have your own comms on your survival vest.. They were dehydrated, starving, and scorched by the sun even if you were somehow willing to be positive, your brain chemistry wouldn't be capable.
