    Okay all of what you said I agree with besides the last part. As someone like me who really wants to get into extreme mountaineering when I’m older I don’t see it as the way you described it. Yes it may have been a “hobby” for them something they like to do. But for others that thing is their life and they would risk their life over and over and over again to do that thing. That’s a true passion for something imo. I am glad they both survived tho I just don’t think that someone should quit something if they love it bad enough unless you are disabled to where you physically can’t do the thing you love. Other than that you are correct, I’ve seen an ep where a guy was lost in a jungle in Mexico and after a few days to a week of being lost he climbed a tree to the top and he saw a search and rescue helicopter and the guy said apparently the helicopter was so close to him he could make out almost all the pilots details on her face and he could have hit her with a rock easily from the distance but somehow she didn’t see him. Like how tf do you not see someone when your 15-20ft away from someone in a heli

    @ MimiWalburga Please can you explain how the fuck should helicopter/plane/ship/whatever see or not see them if nobody was searching for them.Yep how dare those rescuers not see needle in the hayes stack which are victims in wilderness or ocean.One can argue that they were not strong enough to overcome fear for what they love but obviously they weren't in love with that hobby in the first place.

    lmao I love when the Athiests just have to chime in when you mention God...when they literally cannot prove he doesn't exist. You know damn well these men prayed to God for strength and they meant it. Call it what you want, but having faith in those situations can be powerful.

    I love these videos because I enjoy seeing the human spirit triumph against near impossible odds. Gives me hope that there are still folks who hunger for adventure and and seek to find themselves in the face of a little risk. There is wisdom in a little suffering (or a lot) an education you can get no where else. The criticism of these folks in these stories is a little perplexing and depressing though. Of course there are things that they should have done or not done, that is painfully obvious and folks pointing these things out to make themselves feel better and feed their ego need to get out from behind the computer and do something besides judge. I took my family on a 10 mile hike this weekend, no phone signal, basic first aid kit only......No SAT phone (the horror)...... if someone had broken a leg in a fall they would have had to be evacuated by helicopter. We have done this hundreds of times, and if tragedy struck tomorrow, we would be back at it soon. To me, that is an acceptable risk. I would much rather give my kids the satisfaction and confidence that pushing and risking gives than to leave them with their phones or behind a computer screen all damn day. We are all going to die, and we will all be forgotten; so live. Live Hard.

    I really love this series and this was a great episode. However, is it me or did they leave out HOW they were found? This doctor lady showed up out of nowhere, knowing their names and said a little about what happened Jeremy and nothing else. Did someone find Jeremy in the Jeep? Did he drive out and find somebody?? One of my favorite parts about these is when the first person makes contact with another person and that "I'm saved!" moment that makes me cry like a bitch. I'm gonna be wondering about this all night and it's your fault show! XD

    you're right, they usually show that moment as it's kind of a climax point of the whole story, i've no idea why they didn't include that here. you have to guess tho that he eventually got a signal on his phone, or drove somewhere to get help. but i agree they definitely shouldnt have left that out.

    Britt Z - I can only presume (Never presume) that the mobile phone in the car got "live" and he managed to send a message...OOOOR, the brothers told a lot of people where they were going and how long they should be. After no responses, those people got the help. NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT LETTING SOMEONE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHO YOU WILL BE WITH AND HOW LONG YOU SHOULD BE. I guess the brothers did these things.

    The story of how Justin was found is incredible. After Jeremy got out and called for help they didn't know where Justin was at. The amazing Emery County Search & Rescue team searched all through the night. They built fires along the cliff edge so the other searchers would know that area had been searched. It's a long story. But my husband is Justin (the one that fell) and we named out youngest daughter Emery faith (Emery after Emery Co Search & Rescue).

    the younger brother seems to be reacting to the situation simply by panicking and feeling guilty, which makes him rush and not think or plan at all. It's easy to say from the comfort of home, but the fact is that this is not an effective way of getting out of a jam.

  • @DoomedBySociety

    How do you plan for an emergency when there is no service? Or how do you plan for an emergency when your 7000 meters up a mountain? (20,000+ft) or how do you plan an emergency when your stranded in the ocean or on an island or lost in the jungle? Not every place on this planet will have service and not every place is an easy place to rescue someone. People who do extreme mountaineering and are 7000+ meters high have like a 50/50 chance or lower saving someone who is injured and can not get down to the closest camp. Usually those ppl end up dying just cuz of how dangerous it is to save them. Even with a helicopter it’s dangerous ass hell considering being 7000+ meters up on a mountain you can easily get gusts of wind of upwards 60+ mph. 99% of these ppl on these “I shouldn’t be alive” vids get caught in VERY unfortunate situations and typically don’t have a way for rescue without the help of someone else

  • @smoothmicra

    @smoothmicra

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@DoomedBySociety I disagree, there are a load of things you can do in case of emergency, regardless of the remoteness, the simplest one being letting people know where you are going and when to raise the alarm if you haven't contacted them by a certain date/time. Hand held GPS, base camps, emergency supplies containing a satellite phone (depending on the remoteness), you can even get gadgets to ping an emergency signal up to a satellite wherever you are in the world these days. Rescue isn't always easy, who said it was? That is part of the risk assessment you make before heading out to the wilderness. If you have no survival skills, and you don't make preparation for an emergency, you might be signing your own death warrant. Even the best preparation might fail you, but that is no reason not to prepare. If you value your life prepare!

  • @DoomedBySociety

    @DoomedBySociety

    3 жыл бұрын

    Smoothmicra okay but what happens when you tell someone where your going and when to raise an alarm but something happens days, weeks or even longer before your expected day back? Then for the part where satellite phones, base camp, walkie-talkie’s etc.. satellite phones and radio run on a battery and use energy.. what happens when they die? You now lost you way to contact people at base camp or else where. All I’m saying is some people just have terrible luck where everything bad happens at once. Such as telling your family your going to climb Mount Everest which on average takes 2 months to summit and get back down and say something happened after you had left camp 4 going to the summit and the weather changes and strong winds pick up etc and you lose radio connection and start to come to hypothermia. Now you are forced to go find shelter in a small ice corvas or somewhere out of the strong winds and try to warm yourself up some. Then what if yet another bad thing happens and your stuck out in that ice corvas or wherever you made it for the night cuz the weather won’t change and your walkie-talkie/satellite phone dies overnight and you now don’t have any contact to anyone. Can’t have a heli save you that high, 99% of ppl won’t risk their life to bring you back down the mountain if your badly injured. So all I’m trying to say is no matter how prepared you think you are.. shit can always go wrong to the point where 95% of choices you make will become life or death and sometimes you gotta get yourself outta the situation you got yourself into by yourself with no help.

    @@DoomedBySociety Sure, I said the best prep can still fail, but most the time the people who prepare come back alive. I wouldn't dream of going into potentially dangerous isolated terrain like those fellas without planning for injuries etc. They got lucky, but I don't want to rely on luck. I want to give myself the best chance of coming back. Preparation mate.

The beauty of nature makes you wanna hug it and merge as one with it, yet we can barely withstand its grandeur and rapidly shifting atmosphere.
