I think you did an excellent reaction to this performance. Your disclaimer about not having completed your musical education wasn’t necessary. I never really cared for this song until Angelina gave it her amazing interpretation. While she’s not classically trained, to the best of my knowledge, she has had vocal coaches who have brought out the best of her natural ability. This was her first song recorded professionally after she turned 16.

Glad you found one of my all-time favorite singers of any age, Angelina Jordan! You should check out her performance of "Summertime" at Norway's Got Talent and also her acapella version of "I'm a Fool to Want You.." Two songs that exemplify different aspects of her versatility are "I Put a Spell on You"-- your must watch the Blck and White studio version, and the inside concert version of "I Feel Good." Then delve into her original compositions with "What is Life" with piano and sax, and "Million Miles Apart" about the passing of her grandfather (another touching cover she did in memory of her other grandfather who died recently is "You Were Always on My Mind." Thanks for being who you are!!

Kudos to you Aaliyah for enjoying and reacting to artists outside your genre, I realize techniques in your style are a bit more rigid and unforgiving, so listening to Angelina and all her vocal freedom has to be unique experience for you. And yes, you sure picked a real talent here. She listened to lots of jazz when she was very little thanks to her grandmother. So being the genius she is, she was able to treat us with all this fantastic singing. Keep your mind open and enjoy!!

This is my 129td time listening to this MASTERPIECE and each time I experience a new level of perfection by our ethereal prodigy extraordinaire, Angelina Jordan. When you listen to the A cappella portions of this performance at the very end of the song you are truly experiencing the genius of Angelina Jordan’s PERFECT PITCH. Sinatra, rest in peace Angelina Jordan, the Bare Foot Queen has taken the crown and there is nothing like her in the universe. When I first heard her perform this I put it on pause and brought up Sinatra, Bublé, Streisand, Fitzgerald and Vaughan's version of this song to compare it to AJ version, and none of them moved me like this version. It is so hard to comprehend that Angelina from 7 to 16 is the greatest story telling being in my 75 years of experiencing great vocalist and I can't wait for the rest of the story.

It was explained on the Christmas Show Dec. of last year: AJ, being signed with Republic is using some young producers that have worked with some of the biggest stars in the industry so you will see some unique lighting and also colorful sets. Rob Christie, and AJ's family, are in complete control of her career. The unique thing about AJ is that she does not need special lighting, or bells and whistles, all she needs is that unequaled voice and maybe one instrument playing in the background to blow us away

Excellent analysis. I have just stopped trying to explain her effect in rational analysis. I am finally stuck with "enchanting." She has a long list of quantifiable attributes but at the end of the day we are left with something undefinable in her singing. I can see it in the effect it had on you. Face it, you were just "enchanted."

"Suspicious Minds" is her latest release! It to, will blow your mind, and she's accompanied by a two Grammy winning pianist. Same location near her LA home as her cover of "My Funny Valentine". It's also a gorgeous interpretation! Behind the scenes, you will see her providing notes to a conductor or engineer, as in her B&W cover video of "I put a spell on you". That's what's on the piece of paper the engineer is holding near the beginning. She's performing in Japan later this year too. They'll adore her.

Nice reaction! I love how Angelina sings this wonderful jazz standard. She sang this the way this song should be sang. Her rendition of this is so artistically beautiful. The first time I heard this, I literally had the same reaction as you! So amazing! On a side, sorry about the troll down below in your Comments Section. He currently is going by the name of NobelPrize. He has been going from one Angelina reactor to another leaving negative and disparaging comments about her. Not sure why this troll is doing this, but I guess when you get more and more popular, it's to be expected I guess. Aaliyah, you made all of us smile throughout the whole video. You are very charming and it was obvious during your reaction video you were enjoying Angelina's version of 'My Funny Valentine' so much so that we were happy for you. She is extraordinary with her soulful voice and her artistry is off the charts. All of her fans (her 'angels') around the world feel her love in their hearts and that's what she does. Aaliyah, I'm just a regular guy who adores her and I have adopted her (figuratively, of course) as if she is family to me. Oh my goodness, I'm not alone. In fact we are all interrelated because Angelina has created a giant family of people who love to listen to her sing and also realize she is much more than a great singer. I believe musicians and particularly vocalists probably appreciate what Angelina does more than the average listener. I have a feeling what we "love" about her singing literally "stuns" established artists in the industry.

Thank you, Aaliyah, for another great reaction to Angelina. First, your singing on the intro to your video is wonderful. It is evident that you, like Angelina, have an immense amount of innate musical talent, but that you have also been working very hard at your craft. You have many years to go before your voice is fully developed and, when it is, I am certain it will be spectacular! Angelina has sung in many musical genres, but we have yet to hear her sing opera. As wonderfully talented as she is, I'm not sure she could tackle classical opera, but I would love to hear her sing light opera, something like Linda Ronstadt did in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance". You need to check that out on KZread. I got chills when you mentioned Chet Baker. Yeah, this is a sort of master class in '50s-style jazz singing. Her use of dynamics in particular is so effective. You might also like one of her latest releases, her cover of Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds. It's a beautiful example of rearranging a classic to give it a new energy. There's some fun technical stuff going on, too. Great reaction, Aaliyah!

Angelina's mom is always concerned regarding how her daughter could be perceived in videos. Because Angelina has developed into a beautiful 'Persian Princess' of a girl, a sultry song like this could have people mistakenly thinking she is presenting this song in a sensually provocative manner. By overdubbing the vocals, the viewing listener will see Angelina as a beautiful teenager who is day dreaming as she meanders through an antique furnishing establishment with no sexual connotations presented.

Aaliyah, that was an excellent reaction/analysis of Angelina's version of this song. It's so great to see a young, talented & knowledgeable vocalist appreciate her talent. Like you, this is one of my all-time favorite songs & this version is the best I've ever heard by anyone, male or female. You might like another version of this song sung by a reactor/voice coach named Ceci Dover, that was moved to tears when she listened to Angelina's earlier version of this when she was 10 yo & was inspired to sing it herself right after her reaction. I think Ceci's version is better than most versions I've heard from legendary vocalists in the past. This whole performances wraps me a cozy blanket while running fingers down my neck: it keeps me warm and gives me chills at the same time. The slips, slides and jumps from note to note, playing with rhythm and dynamics and using her voice in many many different ways. She in fact goes all out without it being too obvious. I find it very inspiring to listen to her and it gives me all sorts of ideas for my own singing. The happy sigh is how I usually end this song as well and than I hit replay. Hi Aaliyah, That was a fantastic analysis and review!! At 18 you are a better reactor than 95% of those I have seen. As an artist yourself it looks like your future career is very bright too! It's nice to see young people love this song. I prefer Angelina's version over Chet Baker's. Here is the link to another version she did on Feb.14, 2016, one month after turning 10 years old.
