TEDxIB @ York - Mike Jutan - The power of enthusiasm
Ғылым және технология
At age 10, Mike Jutan envisioned his future at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), George Lucas's groundbreaking visual effects film studio. His passion for computer graphics led him to earn his B.Math (Honours Computer Science Co-Op) degree at the University of Waterloo. He now lives his childhood dream every single day as a Research & Development Engineer at ILM in San Francisco, California. Mike is always busy planning his next adventure, to explore the globe and to make a difference to the world around him. Using his mentoring skills and extremely contagious enthusiasm, he is determined to share his joie de vivre with the world and inspire the next generation through a blend of art and science.
TEDxIB@York is an event for International Baccalaureate Diploma students from all over the world to come together to experience TED talks and share ideas with peers and professionals. This event is held annually at The York School, a coeducational, non-denominational, IB, independent day school in Toronto, Canada. This event gives students a chance to see amazing speakers, musicians, artwork, poetry, videos and to connect with people from all walks of life in the spirit of "ideas worth spreading".

Such an amazing enthusiasm! One of my most favourite TED Talks!
I taught Mike karate when he was young and the 100% thing I remember about him was that he absolutely WAS so enthusiastic. He couldn't contain himself with all his energy. He was SO eager and willing to learn and always put a ton of energy into his moves. Amazing and not surprised to see how his life has evolved! :)
Right there with you Mike. I remember getting excited after reading your blog, linked from the Disney web site back in like 2005, and how excited I felt about doing the same thing you were doing, and indeed it was enthusiasm that got me there and I met you in person at Pixar in 2006! Now this darned enthusiasm has got me wanting to run 100 miles. I reckon you've got enough to go about 1000!
Awesome! Thanks to Gregory Cheek for recommending this as part of his class.

I'm in his class, it was a great video.
Great job Mike! I've called you the happiest man at Lucasfilm before, and meant it so sincerely. I've gained further insight into your secret with this talk. The cultivation of enthusiasm/energy you've achieved is such a palpable force for anyone who has met you in person and likely for many who see this video. You freakin' rock man! We are all better off knowing you. JvE

Amazing presentation and I share this with everyone and especially with my clients and college students - so inspirational. I used Mike's quote on enthusiasm in my book, Three Points of Contact @jutanclan ~ Thanks Greg

Ahahahahaha!
the guy needs to drink less coffee
His only problem: He has to work at ILM and have the soul sucked out of him every single day.
I'm distracted every time he laughs, I couldn't focus...Great person but bad speach,
