Ecology of childhood: the power of enthusiasm | André Stern | TEDxVicenza
André Stern is a musician, music composer, guitar maker, author and journalist. André Stern never went to school. He is the son of Arno Stern, an educationalist and researcher, whose work is based on the preservation of the spontaneous disposition of the human being. André Stern has written about his unschooled life, and about his experience as a father, in two best-sellers, available in German, published by Editions Zabert Sandmann: "… Und ich war nie in der Schule", 2009 (now in its 6th edition) and "Mein Vater, mein Freund", 2011, co-written by Arno Stern (see publications). He is also Head of the Institut Arno Stern (Arno Stern Institute).
In his TEDx Talk André announces a new approach to early childhood education based on the trust in our incredible spontaneous dispositions.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I met Andre in Poland at his lecture, and we had some conversation too. A really great man, inspired me to live by the ideas he talks about.
Thank you, André, for sharing this extremely important information. The message of Ecology of Childhood should be spread all over the world. Hugs from Brazil.

This channel has over 3 million subscribers; how come so few people watched this video? Almost as if KZread would have a "black magic", an "inverted selection"-power: the more important a video is, the less people find it somehow.

I call one of the largest industries in the world: the illusion industry or distraction industry. They may even have an algorithm that deviate away from mainstream opinions, except those that make matters worse. Try one right wing conspiracy and your youtube suggestions suddenly will offer you much more. ;)

What do you do with a child who lacks enthusiasm to anything - you let him waste his time and potential so he can be a cleaner in the future? Lets not forget that some children are late starters ... they enthusiasm towards learning/playing may wake up to late for them to learn something they can make a living with. Do you get me? People need to earn their living...

It's never too late to start. If a child lacks enthusiasm, ask what is in their way? Is is school, is it video games is it television. Children need time to become board to even start exploring what matters to them.
