Intentional Enthusiasm: How to accelerate personal greatness | Sonny Melendrez | TEDxSanAntonio
For as long as he can remember, Sonny Melendrez has approached life with great enthusiasm. But it wasn’t until recently that he discovered a dynamic that can actually allow you to hasten your goals, visions and results. He calls it Intentional Enthusiasm. Science tells us that the brain experiences a kind of euphoria when it is in the enthusiastic state. A single thought, stoked by enthusiasm, can cause the brain to release the “happy chemicals” of dopamine, serotonin, endorphin and oxytocin. What if you could turn that condition on, like the flick of a switch, intentionally? Sonny offers personal and historical proof of this phenomenon, along with the latest findings that explain how enthusiasm sets “wheels in motion” toward a positive desired result. Through storytelling, he shares common key behaviors that life-long “enthusiasts” use to their distinct advantage. Emerson observed that, “Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” Sonny Melendrez began his career as a broadcaster at age 19, while attending University of Texas at El Paso. He gained national recognition when he was named Billboard Magazine’s National Radio Personality of the Year (twice).
Sonny received a Grammy nomination for his creation of the children’s version of the worldwide anthem, “We Are the World,” benefiting USA for Africa.
He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2003, the San Antonio Radio Hall of Fame in 2017 and is included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as one of the “Top 100 Radio Personalities of All-Time”.
It is estimated that he has raised over 100 million dollars in money, goods and services for charities, during his career.
Sonny has hosted and/or delivered motivational keynotes at thousands of events and at conferences and universities around the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Hello. As for life, it is a battle and a sojourning in a strange land; but the fame that comes after is oblivion. Ancient Roman emperor.

I'm currently buried alive under potatoes. Euthanasia could be my dream and I'm not sure how to see how everything is all so easy and wonderful and I've not encountered anything to show how this is achieved, even this video as obviously this guy has always had a dream and associated drive. I don't really have belief in anything, however I managed that I'm not at all sure but it all seems like BS. People seem to be able to distract themselves with delusion like religion or hobbies or career or family etc. Maybe that is the only option? You need something that gives you some sort of positive stimulus to get you through the day and leave no time for or require or induce any negative thought, but if you don't have that it's pretty hellish on earth & maybe you just shouldn't be here so perhaps there should be some more widely available smooth exit assistance for people in this futile seeming situation. The world would then have only really happy people remaining and the overcrowding would be reduced.

Enthusiasm comes naturally. It is unkind to enforce enthusiasm. But no one expects kindness. It is a rough world always. Power rules.
