Teddy's historical knowledge is unparalleled. It would be tragic if he retired without sharing all of his stories with the world. We need more videos like this.

Then why couldn't he remember that Michael Spinks was the first LH champion to become a HW champ? Unparalleled, yet he's being corrected by people in his own comment section.

@@Xavier_the_Boxing_Nerd I agree. I don't know if he has THE BEST knowledge (that's incredibly hard to decide or tell). He does however have some great great stories due to insight with the heavyweight division in the 90s and with Povetkin.

@@Xavier_the_Boxing_Nerd well perhaps he meant to include the fact that Moorer was a southpaw light heavyweight moving up to become the first heavyweight champ of that distinction.
Michael Moorer was a serious talent. The first southpaw heavyweight champion of the world but a frigging beast of a light heavyweight.
@curtismcneil8695

Exactly people forget how good of a Light Heavyweight he was. He was knocking out everybody. It was only as a Heavyweight that he lost. He was good enough to win title but lacked mobility with the extra weight.

I really liked Moore in the 90's. I didn't expect him to lose to Foreman, no one did. His fights with Holyfield, were a sign he was a great talent. When you look at his record, he really only lost to Foreman and Holyfield in his prime. Outside of Foreman, he had a great Heavyweight run. He beat Holyfield, and what people forget is that Holyfield suffered from some serious injuries in that fight. Also, his big fights were all won with Teddy as trainer... LOL. He lost to Holyfield after switching to Freddie Roach, who is a great coach, but even Lennox Lewis lost his first fight under Emanuel Stewart. He should have had a winnable fight after the switch, but losing to Holyfield was the beginning of the end of his career. When he lost to Tua, he was already past his prime.

Cus had Floyd Patterson. Superb fighter. Extremely complicated personality.
Teddy your such an inspiration. Your father would be so proud of his legacy.
Teddy, thank you for sharing your life story, along with Michael Moore's! You are the real voice of boxing.. Your father is a true inspiration for all of us.

Teddy = legend... Would love to hear him on the Moorer v Foreman fight. Big George was right - the time came when Moorer stood in front of him... Also the occasion of my favourite sequence of commentary in all sports between Lampley and Clancy... "It happened. It happened... So some of the old power was still there after all." ... Moorer was a monster at cruiserweight tho.

He devoted two chapters on Big George in his AUDIO book. Detailed and great. That's how much he admired Big George's mental toughness and street instincts that, as Teddy says, "way almost better than mine"

Teddy was spot on in their game plan against Holyfield. When Holyfield started to Bob & dance was when Moorer jabbed into that Bob to upset Holyfields momentum.
I love teddy atlas stories. So motivational
I could listen to T.Atlas for hours . Just wish you guys had more visibility. Often Teddy drops some gems, not just about boxing but about who we are, and how we cope with adversity or fear of adversity, That said please do a "special" on Moorer vs Foreman. I was 18 years back then. Like any 18 years old kid, we do not think we will get old. So Foreman's message of age not being a barrier was not really targeted at me. But I see a 45 years KO the champ, and become champ. I know Teddy was on the other corner but he is part of that moment, a moment where I with 18 years old, I realize that while we cannot really break the the laws of physics we can bend them sometimes, with will, wits and a lot of heart.

In the entire boxing world, there isn't anyone else like Teddy Atlas. Ring, boxing, life and World knowledge unlike any one else. What an awesome human being. Appreciation and respect. Thanks a lot. 🙏👍🙂👏👏
I watched what were brief clips of Atlas when I was a young amateur boxer (25 years ago) and always thought I’d love this guy to train me as he’s got such a strong grasp on psychology of life and fighting. I loved my old coach but, you can do it, don’t be scared etc don’t exactly cut it sometimes lol. Anyway I’m so pleased we can see more of his wisdom here even if it is 20 years too late for me lol
I am going to listen to this from time to time Great wisdom and lessons This is full of so many gems here Deep stuff

Thanks The FIGHT. I remember Michael Moorer, a bit before my time - fair to say he was a good fighter, and it makes sense - he seemed a bit non-fussed at times, but he came across as an intelligent contender, not just the 'brute force' type heavyweight...
