Part 8: • Teddy Atlas on Cus D'A...
Part 6: • Teddy Atlas on Mike Ty...
Part 1: • Teddy Atlas on Trackin...
--------
Boxing trainer Teddy Atlas revealed how he walked away from 5% of Mike Tyson's future earnings following a falling out. Atlas initially trained Tyson under the tutelage of legendary boxing coach Cus D’Amato. However, a confrontation with Tyson led to his departure from D’Amato’s gym, with Tyson siding with D’Amato after a gun incident. Later, Atlas was offered a deal that included 5% of Tyson’s earnings if he left the training camp, but he dismissed it as "never real" and walked away. Atlas also discussed learning life lessons from his father in his youth, particularly on understanding the consequences of one’s actions. He argued his departure wasn’t due to some heroic standing up but rather understanding the reality of his situation and opting for self-respect over an uncertain payday.

How do you guys score this interview so far? I got all 7 segments for Teddy Atlas. Listen, we're through 7 parts already and Teddy's pitching a shutout! DJ Vlad has been unable or unwilling to interrupt Atlas like he does to most of his guests and so far, he hasn't been able to make any part of the interview about himself like he usually does. Vlad is barely getting a word in. Teddy's putting on a clinic! 70 to 63, Atlas!

Hearing Teddy talk of his father makes me wish I had one, in the few times I did with a step dad the teaching of calmness is something I never got from my mother, it was 100% we argue and get angrier & angrier, with the step dad basically he’d say “What’s the point? There’s none” Very calmly. I had just never knew that worldview. I do know a lot of people have abusive fathers and such though so I am lucky in the fact I didn’t have that. But I do hope to be a father like this to my kid someday.

I covered it with a band aid and Teddy noticed it right away! He asked what was wrong with my ear. He saw right away that I had an ear ring in. He was NOT happy! Gave me a lecture about my lifestyle! I think Teddy just needs to accept the fact that Mike Tyson was truly sorry for what he did. Mike admit he was wrong and Teddy needs to accept that Mikes apology was genuine and Teddy also needs to accept that he was wrong to. He pulled a gun on a minor and threaten a minors life. Yes we understand why he did it, cause Mike did not look like a minor, but the truth is he was a minor. And being that Teddy was not just Mike's trainor at that time, he was Mike's big brother. I mean c'mon now, we all seen how Mike cried in Teddy's arms before his fight in the 1982 national junior olympics. A 15 year old kid would only cry like that to someone he feels close to, to someone he saw as a big brother. So Teddy could of handled it different, he could been the adult. What Mike did was wrong but he was just a kid when he did it. The guy was 15 with out of control hormones, and he's never even kissed a girl let alone get close to one. And what Teddy did was also wrong, pulling a gun on a minor no matter how much of an adult Mike looked. I think if Teddy would have told Cus first, before jumping the gun, Cus could of gave Mike the proper discipline that only Cus can give to mike, which is the kind of discipline a father would give. Teddy needs to accept that Mike is truly sorry and admits he was wrong, Teddy just needs to admit he was also in the wrong. it's time for teddy to accept what he already knows and just be the bigger brother. You don't want to live the rest of your years as a stubborn old man then die a stubborn old man.

Listen to Teddy lying here. He got the boot when Tyson was still years from turning pro so Cus offered him 5% of nothing?? Sure Teddy. Never mind that Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton were the ones footing the bill and handling the money, not Cus. Teddy is full of shit. Always has been.

Teddy has his own version of events Often there were 4 people there and the other 3 have a similar story bit teddy is always different and changes through the years He was never offered 5% of mike He was booted out then he started his own boxing gym in Catskill area but that didn't take off , teddy believes he was blacklisted and so left catskill Teddy gun incident where the 27yr old man fires off a gun by a 15 yr old kid and is somehow spoken of like an Alamo event was not solely due to 15 yr old mike grabing teddys wife's nieces 12 yr old ass, it was also because teddy want mike to turn pro as he needed the money but that didn't happen Then Rooney trained mike and the rest is history Atlas psychological style of training wouldn't have worked with Mike like Rooney's no bullshit style did That's the main reason teddy has always talked bad of mike over the years Not because 15 yr old mike grabbed an unrelated 12 yr old guys are He bitter about it all, about what was supposed to be but wasn't And if you ask teddy the time he will tell you how to build a clock

Teddy just needs to accept the fact that he was wrong for jumping the gun to begin. Yes we all understand why he did it, but he needs to understand that he was also wrong. I think he knows this deep down inside but just has a hard time admitting it. I mean Mike use to cry in Teddy's arms like if Teddy was his sibling. In highsight Teddy was the older brother showing the younger brother the ropes, and doing it all with the guidance of the Father figure Cusdmato. If Mike can admit that he was wrong and that he was truly sorry, then it's Teddy's turn to do the same. Otherwise he's just going to be a miserable old man.
