Part 6: • Teddy Atlas on Mike Ty...
Part 4: • Teddy Atlas on Trainin...
Part 1: • Teddy Atlas on Trackin...
--------
Teddy Atlas, former trainer to world-renowned boxer Mike Tyson, revealed significant issues that arose between them during their early years together. Atlas began training Tyson when he was just 12 years old, but revealed that the boxer’s problematic behavior began to escalate as he entered his teenage years. According to Atlas, Tyson began disrupting school proceedings, getting involved in physical altercations, and eventually, a serious incident with an 11-year-old female relative of Atlas. Atlas firmly believes in a high standard of moral conduct, both inside and outside the ring, and these incidents led to Atlas throwing Tyson out of his gym. Unfortunately, Cus D'Amato allowed Tyson back into the gym, leading to a significant clash between Atlas and his partners. Atlas pulled a gun on Tyson to ensure his family’s safety against the young boxer’s threat and eventually shot a bullet near Tyson's ear to make him understand the seriousness of his words.

LOL at people defending Tyson, when Mike himself admits that when he was young he would steal from women on the street, would mug and beat up people, and it is widely known he grabbed Teddy's niece. Dude was a scumbag. No matter his conditions and upbringing. Yes, they were bad, but he did horrible stuff as a young man, and there are no two ways about that. The fact that people try to justify those things because they liked him as a boxer provides insight into the type of people they are, idolzing someone over values.

Unfortunately, at the stage that Mike Tyson was in as a teenager at that time, the threat that Teddy gave him was the only thing that he really would understand. Can’t blame Teddy for what he did under the circumstances and afterwards, years later, Mike Tyson went to Teddy Before a fight while in the audience, and apologize to him, shook his hand and gave him a hug, and Teddy accepted his apology. It takes a real man to put that pride aside and apologize and admit that they’re wrong. Teddy was demonstrating to Tyson what's gonna happen in the real world if you violate somebody's daughter/ sister/ niece/ wife, only without the actual dying part. He was doing him a huge favor and protecting his own family at the same time. The police couldn't do anything because he hadn't committed any real crime to speak of, and even if he had, Tyson had already been to jail and was completely unimpressed with that form of punishment. He actually needed somebody like Teddy who comes from a similar environment and who was an older male figure to speak to Tyson in the only language he truly understood at that point. For people who think Teddy is wrong because Tyson is a minor I understand that thinking but Teddy does not condone his actions either but also that logic is similar to saying why would an police use force to put down a teen that’s shooting up a school.

@giljuwu9728 did they mention anything about therapy before putting in the ring...let alone around THEIR families? Granted Cus loved him and Teddy really tried to make him a better young man, however, let's be honest, if he couldn't box...ain't many folks slowing down their program to address the root issues. Harsh truths. Mike was entirely wrong tho for almost molesting his niece. I ain't arguing that. Buddy was wrong
