You gain that kind of emotion when you get older. Teenagers don't really have that kind of emotional reaction yet. When I was a kid I'd barely ever cry, now I'm older it seems that everyone's cutting onions 24/7.

Rocky remembered Mickey saying the exact same thing to him in Rocky 5...this interview clearly inspired the movie scene

Which is why I believe he fell so hard after Cus died. A lot of his motivation came from wanting to make Cus proud. Also why I believe if Cus stayed alive mike would’ve truly became unstoppable

The way he says “that’s my boy” seems so genuine, you know he really meant that and wasn’t blowing smoke.

This right here is why Mike can never talk about Cus without getting emotional and crying because they both saved each other at a time in there life when both needed saving. So damn powerful

I read the book, I'm sure Mike would have no problem admitting that he is not much in the way of a role model. Banning him from entering the UK because of crimes that took place decades ago does seem extreme but laws are laws I suppose.

He would've went down in the history books as the GREATEST boxer to ever live & he would've retired undefeated without a doubt. Mike just wasn't the same when Cus died.

this reminds me a lot of my relationship with my ex work manager and how she took me in. she asked for nothing and treats me like a son. thanks to her, I too have excelled in life. I don't want to think about it. I'll just feel it and live my life.

Mike Tyson is to Cus D'Amato the same way Alexander was to Aristotle. Supreme talent on their own but when you bring them together you get legacy and empire
