Fun Fact: The story where a football team got relegated in the 1st year, promoted the 2nd year and won the league in the 3rd year has been done before in real life. The german football team "1. FC Kaiserslautern" won the Bundesliga season 1997/98 under the exact same circumstances.

Another tie in between this episode and the first one is that in the first episode the first word we hear Rebecca say is "Rupert", because he hangs over her like a dark cloud and she is obsessed with bringing him down. In this episode her final word that we hear is "Rebecca", signifying she has moved past Rupert and is ready to be her own person and live life on her terms. I love this so much.

Amazing the number of callbacks in this one scene. The winning goal was a play that Nate gave to Ted in the 3rd episode of season one and back then Jamie hated the idea of being used as a decoy. Fast forward to this scene and not only does he relish the idea but mimics the exact movements and words that Ted used when he was trying to teach Jamie how to sell the fake. The sheer joy on Nate's face when he jumps into Ted's arms yelling "that's my play" is poetic.

The last play of the season was Nate's very first play from Season 1. The first time they ran it in practice Jamie had a hissy fit because he wasn't the one to get the goal.

Such a great series and ending episode. Loved all of the tip of the caps to tied up story lines. Wanker, Jaime being an ultimate team player, Sam being happy/connected, Coach and Nate...I even love the normalizing of Colin's relationship. Hoping for more.

Finally finished all episodes after a binge yesterday. I thought the end of the match was too perfect- and that fade out to find out what happened at the Etihad made me all but confirm City had won the Prem And who cares? They certainly didn’t- the unbridled joy of winning the match was beautiful But then again I lost it when at halftime they started to piece the Believe sign. Yeah I was blabbing 😢

I really love Nate's excitement that Ted used his play at the end. That was pure Nate the Kit Man coming out, no sign of Coach Nathan Shelley to be seen. He was just purely excited that his play won the most important game of their careers so far, regardless of who got credit for using it.

The more I think about it the more it seems to have ended one season early. The whole European Football side of things would have been so interesting to tackle. The UCL is the biggest prize in Club football and having a still inexperienced coach try and get his squad to deal with playing against the best to ever play the game would have been great viewing.
