Made the move to Triax after playing NXT Tour 17 and NXT Power 17 for nearly 20 years. After two months and 50+ hours of play, couldn't be happier with the decision. Plenty of power and spin mixed with better control than the NXT. Not a string breaker and the multi feel has been great for my elbow. Top notch technology. Play a low RA racket.

Did you keep with the 17 gauge?

Jonas, you might try some Babolat string savers with your Triax. I'm curious about what you think. They're made of Teflon and should improve both spin (snap-back) and reduce fraying. Wondering how feel is impacted.

Great review. I would like to ask how does the Triax compare to the x-one biphase, NRG2 and Babolat xcel overall? I am looking for a good multifilament to string in my mains with a co-poly in the crosses.

Hey there. Thank you for continuing to put out great videos! I have a follow-up question from the one I asked on Part 1. My first question was: Which was more lively, Triax or Hyper G and you said Hyper G. My follow-up question is: Which is more lively... Hyper G 18g or RPM Blast 18g? More info... my current set up is RPM Blast 18g in mains, Velocity MLT 17g in crosses. Was thinking I would try Hyper G 18g in the mains to change it up and see if I like that hybrid any better. Also that Kick Serve you hit on the AD court is wicked. I think I liked your forehand better with the head 2.0 but that kick out wide is Agassi LVL dependable

I recently moved from Alu power/NRG2 to Hyper G 16L at 48lbs. I now have tendinitis and the poly may be the issue. Looking at a softer poly, going back to a hybrid or trying a full bed of this but I also see Velocity MLT is way cheaper and half the price. Is a full bed of Velocity worth trying or much better as a hybrid?

How would you compare this Triax to a Pro's Pro Superior Gut (if you've used it in the past)? In terms of stiffness and comfort... I mean 50%, 40% or even less comparable? or even higher?

It would be nice to compare between Triax, HDMX Floro and RPX as the later ones are cheaper. Comparing durabitlity, power, control, Spin and also FEEL, because thats the thing that multis tend to mask more.

Can multi's like this, work with a shaped poly? Or better with a rounded poly? Concerned about a shaped poly like hyper g cutting through the multi quickly. Any thoughts on this?

How does the Triax compare to Head RIP Control ?

Is there a multi under $150 reel that has a poly coating that wont fray and get fuzzy? I think rip control n multifeel are a couple but im not sure...would love your input

What multi string would you recommend for the best feel in the ncode six one 95? I'm torn between x1,nrg2,velocity, now triax lol. Or would a hybrid be better? Durability is not an issue because I don't break strings.

How would this compare to NRG2 in your opinion?

I just tried the hdmx string. Tried it in my dr98 and youtek ig prestige and it’s a great string. I’m considering switching from what I normally use which is x-one biphase. I never though I would switch from biphase. I’m not totally convinced yet but a few more session could make me change my mind.

I am asking for advice. I'm a relative beginner. I bought a Head Extreme MP racquet that says they recommend HEAD SONIC PRO strings at a stated optimum tension of 57 +/-5 lbs. I bought a Triax - 17/1.28, but I can't find a recommended voltage anywhere. I see you have experience with Technifiber Triax, please recommend lbs to get the most out of its features. 2. Is it necessary (is it better) if the horizontal and vertical strings are of different tension? Thanks!

How is it compared to Tecnifibre HDX Tour?

I could use a suggestion on a string and tension. I havent played for maybe 7 or 8 years and when I did play I used a full bed of Tonic+ natural gut at 63lbs-65lbs in prestige mids mostly. Im still using the Prestiges but im wanting to maybe try out some poly and a lower tension since im in my 30s now and not swinging out nearly as much. Currently just getting my stroke back with some Prince Synthetic gut at 60lbs in all of my sticks

Drop that synthetic gut to 52lbs. Then adjust from there.

I've strung up the 1.33 gauge in my prince heritage tour 100s and it is absolutely fantastic. Allowing me to play tennis on back to back days for the first time in 18 months. Technifibre are onto something with this string. Also the wholesaler I use in the uk has a deal on these allowing me to buy for an equivalent £9 quid a set if I take a reel so just need to decide which gauge I'm going to use as this is now what I'm using going forwards.

What tension sir?

Will this last longer than gut? What about the other tecnifibre multi strings? I got 8.5 hours out of gut mains hybrid with rpm power. Will a multi get close to this durability?

I tried Triax recently as a cross with Forten Sweet mains, both 17 gauge at 48 lbs. I didn't like this setup as it felt underpowered and stiff. I got some feedback from others and apparently some feel that Triax should be treated as a multi version of a poly and should be strung at a lower tension like a poly. So the next time I try it I'll string it at maybe 45 or maybe even 44 lbs and see how it feels. At the moment, my favorite setup is a sort of poor man's Fed setup, Sweet mains with ALU Power crosses. :)

Wonderful string to use as a cross for someone who comes from a full bed of poly, and wants more comfort and pop. Currently using it with Ice Code in the mains, and it feels amazing in my Angell TC95 18x20.

Hi Johnny, what tensions are you using? I love the hybrid setup - Triax in the mains and Ice Code in the cross but Triax string snaps too fast after 2-3 hrs (Tensions 44 and 42) so thinking to switch to the opposite way. Can you share your tension pls?

@@yooyoungkim3011 Hi. I am not surprised it would break quickly as the harder poly crosses would saw through the softer multi mains. You'd have more longevity with the poly in the mains and multi in the crosses. I use 46 Ice Code Mains / 48 Triax crosses, but I am thinking about going a bit lower for more power. Perhaps 44 mains / 46 crosses would do the trick.

Thanks for the review, I'll have to try this one! Since you mentioned Head Velocity MLT, I've tried stringing it as mains in a hybrid with poly crosses and it had amazing snapback during the first hour of play, but then during the second hour it had quite deep notches and the snapback was gone so I had to straighten the mains between each point. Is that something you've noticed as well?

Yep that's what I found also with Velocity. It didn't take long for the strings to be stuck out of position. Also after some time, maybe 8-9 hours of play, the strings felt quite stiff, which was a surprise to me considering it's multi. Don't know why that is, as I haven't experienced this with other multis.

@@leebr2010 Thanks for the response. Maybe that's why it's so cheap compared to other multis. But since it's so cheap, especially on a reel, I figured it would be worth it even if I have to restring every 5 hours or so.

Can you try for us prince premier control 16 ? Then let me know your opinion 🤟👍🙏

What about a triax/velocity hybrid ? Could it work, be good and bring price down ?

Hi Mauro, shame to hear about your TE. The best multifilament for control is Tecnifibre Triax 1.38 in my opinion, but you could also try a hybrid. I can make a more in-depth review of Velocity MLT - good idea. I hope to see you there too!

Tennisnerd Hi!! Thank you for your quick answer ;) I hope you make that review, I think multis are becoming more relevant than ever. I think this year, due to covid-19 (not playing tennis for month, then playing as much as possible to make the most out of our time) many players have started to get TE. Curiously, TennisWarehouse has just released a video on Velocity, even though it is a 4 year old string. It seems to confirm that many more players are searching for soft alternatives to poly. I hope your arm is also getting better. Keep up the good work!!!

@@maurorenard82 that would be a great video. I switched to Velocity MLT after playing with ISOSpeed Pro 17 for years.

Seems to be a great Hybrid option for someone wanting to move away from a full poly bed.

I put this on TFight 305 RS in a full bed at 50lb and it became a rocket launcher on my first time playing with it. Feel and comfort are great but it is hard to control at this tension. I usually string polys at 48lb, so I thought 2lb higher for this one would work, but it wasn't high enough.

Nah. With multi you need to go up to 55 pounds if you use 48 with polys

Stiff rackets are not bad for the arm by themselves but if you put a stiff racket together with stiff string and high tension then prepare the arm

I find Triax is too powerful at 1.28. Even mixing it with quite stiff Confidential it still feels powerful. 1.33 might be better, but I think they will lose more spin potential

Agree Oehms is underrated. Sonic speed is great, as is Black Pearl Rough. Alu pearl was disappointing though.

Tim G I love the Alu Pearl In stiff racquets. It’s softer than Black Pearl and plays more lively with a bit better spin. Btw, I haven’t tried the sonic speed yet how does it compare in your opinion?

Tension maintenance? I think that’s one of the most important factors for casual players that can’t afford or don’t want the hassle of restringing often. The RacquetTune app is a great way to measure how much tension drops, even if it doesn’t get the initial tension right it will get the tension loss right. I would add that test step to all your string reviews. Love this channel.

Agree. I don't want to see my tennis stringer more than my kids!

Am I the only one who notices that the 16 gauge in Triax is a normal 15L diameter. And the 17 is a normal 16 gauge? That’s got to increase the durability alone.

All these reviews made me buy this string, tested it with RF97 V13 & Cortex 2007.. strung @26kg for rf and 23 for Cortex.. no power for both, control & precision with high tension rf.. garbage honestly. Try Babolat Xcel you may be surprised.. downside it last ~3h or less for big hitters.

I have tried this string on 2 rackets, different tensions, and i absolutely hate them, zero control, massive trampoline effect, every shot was going out and it was impossible to control heavy shots from opponents, never going to use them again.
