Since my arm hates polys I’m a big tester and user of multis. For several months my favorite one is thé Head RIP control because you got best of both world : great control, decent snap back, really comfortable, average durability and maybe the best spin friendly.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to try out X-One before I finally crumble and get a full bed of Wilson Gut for my Six-One 95! But you missed out the best multi of all time: Wilson Sensation. I can't explain it, but the feel is still great even though it's really cheap and strung in many 'Walmart' rackets. Also great in a hybrid.

hi, thanks for the info. question...im havin some golfers elbow, so wanted to go full bed of multifilament in a very low tension...how low in tension can you go on a ful bed of multi? i know you can go 35lb on a monofilament, but what about multi strings? Im using now a head youtek speed mp(315gr, 18x20, 2 grams of lead at 12) with a hybrid in 42 lb, poly in the mains and syntetic gut in the crosses....want to go to a full bed of multi till I get better, but I dont know how low I can go in tension, and still be playable...thank you very much!!!

I've always played with polys, but my arms absolutely hate them, I've been really dealing with bad tennis elbow. Would you recommend trying a softer poly (Sidewinder, Tour Bite Soft, etc..) or a more controlled multi? I really like the control I get with a poly, so I'm looking for a way to maintain that control, but have to find a way to get some relief for my elbow. Thanks!!

Yeah, it sounds like the safe bet would be to go as soft as possible, just to try and help alleviate the pain. Maybe even consider a hybrid of the two, a soft poly, and a more control oriented multi, that way you won't be giving up all aspects of the poly. Troy, TW

Check out our comparison video of Hyper-G vs. Tour Bite, here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGeFkpqkY862d84.html. We also have an article on it, here: www.tennis-warehouse.com/comparison/STB16_SHG16.html. Volkl V-Square offers just as much spin potential as the other two, maybe more, but doesn't quite have the control, and tension maintenance of those two strings. V-Square plays more lively, and feels a bit more elastic. Troy, TW

Please do a similar video for synthetic gut. I am not a multifilament fan because they lack control unless you string them tight. I'd rather use a syn gut at a medium tension for a combination of spin, control and comfort. The durability is pretty good too as I mostly hit flat shots. Many thanks for listening!

  • @tenniswarehouse

It offers a softer, plusher feel and more power. You might want to consider bumping up the tension a couple of pounds as you'll be using a more powerful string and also putting it in the more dominant position (main strings) so the overall power of the stringbed will noticeably increase. The higher tension will help bring back some control. Once you get used to it you can start reducing the tension bit by bit if desired. Cheers, Chris, TW

Both of those polys aren't considered soft polys, so I could see that. If you are going with a soft poly, I would consider something like ISOSPEED Cream, or Volkl V-Star. If you were to try a multi I would go with something like Wilson Sensation Control, Tecnifibre Multifeel, Tecnifibre HDMX Floro. Not to mention that there are a lot of pre packed hybrids containing sharp poly and multi ( babolat pht and xcel, solinco tour bite and vanquish etc). Gut slides very well with a poly cross so you will get some nice snap back for added spin from that set up. For multis I like Tecnifibre Multifeel as an affordable and very spin-friendly multi. For a premium multi Head Reflex MLT feels spin-friendly for me. Alpha Gut 2000 offers me so much control I can swing fast enough to generate spin without fear of over hitting. It's also a great price. Also, a new string from Tecnifibre is coming out at the end of the month called Triax. It blends multifilament construction with poly filaments in one string. We are finding it to offer great spin/control yet still be very comfortable. Cheers, Chris, TW.

How often are you breaking your strings? and what string have you been using? If you have been experiencing some arm discomfort, you would likely want to go with a softer string type, in which multis are best for that. Polys are more durable overall, but they don't hold tension well, and usually lose a lot of the playing characteristics much faster than a multi. There is also the option of a hybrid, where you mix the two string types, and that could be an option to consider. Troy, TW

I have a Head LiquidMetal 4 that you strung with 17 gauge multifilament synthetic gut string at 59lbs in your review from 2003. Should I do the same with something like Wilson Sensation, or are there other recommendations you might have? I've been using the strings the racket came with when I bought it used a few years ago. I'm somewhere between a beginner and an intermediate player and my shots are sailing long a bit too often because of the power of the racket, so I'd like something that's going to lessen the power slightly and add more control while being comfortable for the arm, durable and budget friendly. I was checking out Head Sonic Pro Edge but I've since found out that I probably shouldn't be messing around with polys at my level.

  • @tenniswarehouse

    @tenniswarehouse

    4 жыл бұрын

I would consider a string like Wilson Sensation Control, which is a more control oriented version of Sensation. For tension, I would likely go somewhere around 57 pounds which is in the middle of the tension range, as the factory string you were using likely dropped tension quite a bit over time, and the Sensation Control is a bit firmer of a multifilament. You also commented on the Sonic Pro string which is a poly, and if you are thinking of using a string like that, I would likely try a hybrid with Sonic Pro in the mains, and a multi in the crosses, like Wilson Sensation of Head Velocity MLT, somewhere around 55 pounds. @@tenniswarehouse Thanks! What would you say the difference between Wilson Sensation Control 16 and something like Head Velocity MLT 17 or Head Synthetic Gut PPS 17 is?

@@DavidAbbott, Sensation Control is a bit more firm, and has the most controlled response. Velocity MLT feels the softest and most powerful, and the Syn Gut PPS is bit more firm like the Sensation Control, and is a bit more spin friendly, but not as much feel, and tension maintenance as the other two. @@tenniswarehouse I've ordered a set of Wilson Sensation Control to use on my Head racquet so thanks for the recommendation! Since my last comment, I got a good deal on a Völkl V-Feel 4 which is on it's way and I was thinking of trying out a hybrid with that racquet. The two strings I've picked out that my local stringer has are Tecnifibre Ice Code 17 for the mains and Dunlop Silk 16 for the crosses. Do you think this combo would work well even though the mains will be thinner than the crosses? What tension should each string be at with the Völkl? Thanks for all the help!

@@DavidAbbott, yes that hybrid should play well. We would likely string it around 54 to 55 with a hybrid. Also some prefer to string a little tighter with the softer string, so maybe 54 with the Ice Code, and 56 with the Silk. Troy, TW

Hiya, I have my eye on the Solinco X-Natural (17g) to go in my Blade v7 16/19. Would you consider the X-Natural be to be a control orientated multifilament ? If so do you have any experience with it? And what tension would you suggest for good control? Kind regards.

It offers decent control, maybe try mid tension, or slightly above the middle of the tension range. Troy, TW

What’s Some differences between Reflex MLT and Velocity MLT.

Reflex MLT is softer, and even more comfortable, although comfort is good with the Velocity MLT. Velocity MLT, will offer a bit firmer feel, slightly more control. Spin is good with both for multifilaments. Troy, TW
